You've got to love Robin Lopez

Love that Kid. I reffed he and his brother when they were HS Seniors. Their AAU team played against KLove/Brandon Jennings. They were class acts.

haha; Damian cold blooded no smiles during that question. Rolo doing the 'rolo-man'

I saw his brother and he at Disneyland with what looked like some at risk kids. I've liked him since then. Hopefully he can learn a few more post moves to take the next step

I knew when we snagged him he'd be a fan favorite off the court. He has the kind of personality Portland embraces.

I had no idea he'd be so damn good on the court. He's a perfect fit next to LA.

BTW, how's Jeff Withey doing?

Remarkably similar to Leonard, actually.

Seems like a pretty nice guy, plus he is a really big nerd.

Just older, less athletic and with a lower ceiling.
I'd guess Withey is better at defense, not as good at offense, and never will be. We kept the right guy, and the trade was magical.

Seriously, Blazers. When the hell are you going to start selling RoLo wigs? They'd be hilarious and would catch on in this city like wild fire.

It depends on what they are made of. I'd be cautious about Chinese 'flame retardant' labels.

Seriously though, I agree. How is it possible that someone in marketing hasn't done this already?

I think he is a future Western Conference All Star at the center position. Just watch.

Won't be the first time. You and I seem to come at a post from the same angle. Just something I have noticed.

If you're asking to take me out for a beer I won't say no.

I said at beginning of year that our Lopez would be the best Lopez by the end of this season, he's clearly taken heed to my prediction.

lol.

I just think his heart, drive and workmanship will put him in that position someday. I could see him becoming a Ben Wallace type.

Portland was the perfect fit for him, from his personality off the court to his effort on the court, he's a team guy and huge for chemistry, easily makes him a fan favorite. Being surrounded by great offensive players has already added to his offensive game.

Yep.

He hasn't put up huge numbers but his impact has been quiet but huge for this team. I give him a ton of credit for where this team is at today.

How have the Blazers marketing people not thought of this yet? Great idea!

We've talked about players that needed to step up without so many frontcourt players. In my opinion, Lopez hasn't gotten enough credit for his play without LA, Leonard, Freeland and Robinson. It's not that he's upped his scoring, but he's stepped up every other part of his game. Defense, boxing out, defending the paint and blocking shots like a mofo.

He's been the key to our season. Just a genius move to get him by Olshey.

And a dumb as fuck move by New Orleans to GIVE HIM AWAY so they could overpay Tyreke Evans. Seriously, WTF were they thinking???

Lopez was an underpaid center who, at the age of 24 started all 82 games for them last season, put up a career high PER = 18.9 and had two years left on his contract at a little over $5 million/year. They GAVE him to us to free up cap space to sign Tyreke Evans, a player without a position, who has already feuded with his coach about his role on the team, to a 4 year deal at $11 million/year.

They already had Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon as their starting backcourt. So, Evans is playing back-up SF, even with all the injuries the Pelicans have had, Evans hasn't started a single game for them - and people here think Batum is overpaid. And, he HATES his new role and has bitched to Monty about it. WTF was the NOP front office thinking? Sounds like they wanted to try to move Eric Gordon and replace him with Evans as the starting SG, but couldn't get any takers for Gordon. So, now they are stuck with an $11 million/year back-up SF whose scoring average has declined every year he's been in the league. His FG% is .396, and he shoots .145 from 3-Point range (makes Andre Miller look like Steve Kerr).

It's moves like this that explain why the Blazers are 40-18 and the Pelicans are 23-34. Just think how much better the Pelicans would be if they had just kept Lopez and used the extra $6 million in cap space to sign some half way decent back-up SF. They gave away a healthy, young, underpaid, starting center so they could overpay a disgruntled, underperforming back-up small forward. Thank you!!!!
