Zach Collins a bust?

This is my favorite part.

Journalism 101: Always give yourself props within your own articles.

Point number two: has anyone questioned (besides me of course) why the Blazers draft a 19-year-old center when they already have 23-year-old Jusuf Nurkic and 25-year-old Meyers Leonard?

On the plus side, I do trust him more than Dan "Fake News" Rather.

Had to go off on the fucker on Twitter lmao.

The table below lists every rookie center drafted in the top 15 from 2011-2015, including Collins. These are their per 36 min. statistics (look away Neil Olshey)...This table tells us two things: rookie statistics do a pretty decent job of forecasting how good a center will be, and Zach Collins is having the worst rookie season out of centers drafted in the top 15 in a long time.

I got there, then quit reading, because his stats table is for the ENTIRE rookie seasons of mainly top-5 centers. The writer could have easily set Basketball Reference to look at only the FIRST TEN games played (Collins has played 10).
-----------
Collins is not having an historically bad rookie year, as the writer says. D.J. Wilson is similar or worse in draft position, minutes, number of games, win shares/48, BPM, VORP, etc.

Original author a F@#king idiot?!

Obviously going off stats and hasn't watched the kid play.
Stats may be dismal, but you can see the kid has a well rounded game, and is going to be good with a bit of experience and physical maturity.

I was always against the Collins pick, but that article is pretty ignorant. A 20 year old who plays good defense, has a good body and a good head on his shoulders can really improve parts of his game and become a valuable piece for a winning team.

People who treat things like midrange shots or post moves as talent instead of acquired skill make me laugh.

Collins has toothpick legs. The bones won't thicken much, no matter how much calcium he drinks in his supplements.

He'll play forward, not center. So the writer compared Collins to the wrong players.

Leonard

All three of these guys could serve as the center of the offense

The people who liked this post must not have read it through... I KNOW you're not talking about running the offense through him are you...?

We should send Nathan For You to help him out with his blogging.

Well, he did say "barring injury"...

Still, it's funny he said something will never, ever happen, and then it happens the very next day.

Collins has been getting PT lately anyway, so it's not unreasonable he would earn a start at some point during his 4-year rookie contract, and given the Blazers pending luxury tax situation, they are not about to trade him away while he is on his cheap rookie contract.

BNM

For the record, I liked the post, but not for that statement. For most everything else, which made sense.

Every fucking year some dumb ass makes a "bust" comment about a rookie and uses PER to help make his point. When are they going to learn that these rookies are not even close to a finished product. This article is beyond idiotic, but they have to write about something.
