Blazers not looking great

Running into the paint and throwing a shin pass to the guy right next to you who is in the same situation as you, is not a good play. Seems to be occuring alot tonight.

Came home from my kids soccer game. Blazers up 17 I believe and Ant/Grant leading the surge. Then they go to crap, SA is suddenly up and I’m lovin it! Then they break out Ant and Grant at the end to win it but Blazers still lose. Those players, coaches and management are so incredibly disaffected. No need to get young players run at the end of a throw away game in a throw away season. Hopefully they are thinking they are showcasing vets, but they probably aren’t. They are just clueless. There is no plan.

so, Simons and Grant both have their best games of the year, at the same time, at home, against a .500 team...and the Blazers still lost. The loss is helpful for lottery odds, but I don't think this says much positive about the team
Assuming you didn't watch it, was a well played game by the Blazers.

Clingan first game back, he looked rusty a few moments but super impressive at other times, had a heavy minutes restriction that I'd assume increases soon.

Scoot was dreadful, we really want to flip these to wins he should be moved to 3rd string. Clearly the worst Blazer on the court.

Was super enjoyable to watch both the offense and defense without Ayton. Even Jabari is a better starting center.

Deni pushed the pace, attacked well on offense, and had a great all around game.

This team has practically coached one of Scoots biggest strengths completely out of his game.

And his usage is just bizarre...so little 21 action to get him baseline to his right in early offense. Very few empty side pnr's... Where did the handoffs go at the elbow to get him an early step?

If we're going to use him in pick and roll in the middle of the floor and also discourage him using his pull-up mid-ranger, you're going to get a lot of plays that go nowhere.

His at-rim decisions also get a lot tougher when teams know that he's not a major threat to pull up.

Wish this team would have let him play to his strengths early in his career and then let him expand from there. Killed his confidence and the road's going to be a long one to get it back. Hope I get to see it in a Blazer uniform but my optimism is waning
Scoot obviously can't shoot, but the problem is he also can't finish when he drives and gets by his man. Saw multiple times last night he had space inside the free throw line and couldn't get a good shot.

If he can't shoot and can't drive he's just not an NBA quality player.

Imagine how effective Westbrook would have been if he couldn't score on drives.

Gary Trent hardly played his rookie year. Sharpe had a fine rookie year though. And Scoot’s rookie year is underappreciated because of #3 pick expectations. Gary Trent Jr??? WTF?
Ok your right I was thinking of GTJ sophomore season.

Scoot rookie year was just bad - Camara was much better.

Sharpe had super impressive moments but also dozens of irrelevant games. All his good moments were during a hard tank which puts a bit of an asterisk on those.

Actually will be easier than I thought for Clingan to have the best rookie season since Dame - he just might do it. He actually may even have a shot at ROY as nobody has been very impressive.

Blowing a 17 pt lead in 5 mins is actually pretty impressive.
They had a 14 point lead when i turned it on. I thought immediately "Well maybe they can blow a 14 point lead?". They then pushed the lead to 17 and I thought well they are going to screw this up and win aren't they? To my surprise they found a way to give them a 8 point run almost on que. I knew the Tank was rolling as soon as they stopped play for a meaningless challenge.
This game probably could not have gone better for this team. Both Simons and Grant scored 30+ points and they lost. They should try to make it a little less obvious with the planned dribble mid court turnovers out of nowhere but a loss at this point is a loss none the less.

There was one play where im pretty sure we had an over and back, a shot clock violation and a foul all simultaneously. The shot clock violation was called but im pretty sure all three happened at once.

Also, did catch Chris paul call for a screen, got it, went around and it and saw KlingKong and pirouetted right outa there? It was hilarious. He got all stiff and dribbled right back out almost dribbling it off his foot he was trying to back out so quickly.

didn't see the Avdija drive & dunk but was easy to find on youtube:

Open lane. Nothing special at all. Just happened to get an open drive with the defense trying to get back? Pretty much any NBA player could do this?

He pushed the ball hard the second he got it. If it’s not special, I would at least acknowledge that players don’t choose to play that way most of the time.

Can we just have a game of that 3rd quarter but without the vets and our young guys are the ones making 20 points in a quarter?

I.e. not grant or simons lol.

This is what I've always wanted my players to do when I've been coach. Get out and run. As soon as the ball touches your hands get moving up the court with your eyes up. Pass ahead if you can, but if not attack the rack. Don't pull it back unless there are two defenders between you and the basket.

If there is one defender, beat them.

Deni and Toumani continue to impress. They are starting to nucleate a roster. Shae has a good night but needs more aggression and I daresay anger. Take 20 shots a game, every game.

No man, it was the speed he did it coast to coast without hesitation and all coordinated that was very impressive. I had to rewatch it multiple times just to tell exactly what happened and how the ball even went in.

Yeah agree those two forwards are super impressive. Shae is up and down but does have flashes. Clingan has greatly exceeded expectations.

Scoot is the one really big disappointment. Just part of developing young players, a couple improve way more than expected and others fall way short.

Really will be excited to follow this team if we can ditch vet(s) and add some more lottery picks the next few years.

I've actually been super happy with all the drafting that Cronin has done. The young length we've added is a nice change too. It's just trades and vet contracts he's horrific with.

Im pretty sure everyone in the arena disagrees with you. I haven't seen an explosion of excitement and energy like that since Dame time.
I don't see how anyone can watch that play and not be excited. One of the best coast to coast fast breaks I've ever seen a Blazer do and we had some great fast breaks especially in the Drexler era.

Wow? Hyperbole much? Dude beat one player.
Yes it was a good play but please let’s call it what it is. This fan base is so starved at this point they are calling a routine layup “Dame Time”.

Huh? More Hyperbole? Really?

Okay. Not sure what you watched my man. He beat all the players down the court. You can see the crowd explode out of their seats. Yes, this was the best play of the year.
I should clarify in case you think i mean the nba. I mean for the Blazers.
But no hyperbole. I mean, Didn't you admit you hardly tune in? I watch every single came start to finish.
I hard disagree with your take on this. Sorry.

One player? He literally beat every player on the court coast to coast.

Okay it was a good play. Might even be the play of the year though I would probably say Sharpe’s dunk last week was better. I’m very happy you all are excited for him and I’m sure we all hope he continues to excel.

I think we're just going to have to get excited about the little things for a little while... Might just be a coping mechanism...

Sharpe’s def close and there are probably a couple from last year that are close as well. But i just feel that how Deni went coast to coast, it was more exciting and more impactful to the energy and that's why I said best. I do not mean to devalue your thoughts on it by any means. This is def subject to opinion. :)
