Zeller to have Surgery

I have a pretty funny story from my college days back in the UofO. Actually, this was probably my party-after-college days...no matter

anyway, the head BB coach for the Ducks back then was a guy named Dick Harter, He was a former marine and he ran his team like boot camp. That was the infamous "Kamikaze Kids" days for Oregon basketball. They were junkyard dogs and Harter was never more proud than when the Ducks, all of them, dove on the floor for a loose basketball. Harter had a picture framed that showed all 5 Ducks on the floor at once:

anyway, pre-game rituals were very structured and repetitive. Harter believed that was preparation. One of the rituals was that when the Ducks did layup drills, about a half dozen Ducks would stand at the halfcourt line and stare at the opposing team doing their warmups

well, one time the Washington Huskies, who were always a good team back then played at Mac Court. Now, their head coach was Marv Harshman, a very good coach, but also quite the showman. He had a plan, and so, when the half dozen Ducks went into the stare-down mode, about a half Dozen Husky players got right in their faces. The only difference was the Husky players were all wearing Groucho Marx masks. It was hilarious even though it got the Mac Court crowd in a fever pitch. But the Huskies walked the walk and beat the Ducks that night

a pretty interesting write-up about that game and the weirdness of Dick Harter:

I was at that game...epic
I have never since enjoyed watching a team so much as the Kamikazi Kids.

Is this guy actually going to miss the first 3-4 weeks of the season? If so, major bummer.

I don't know if it will be that long, but the regular season starts in just 12 days. If the nose was "crushed" like the reports said, his recovery time could be toward the end of normal. And the normal seems to be 2-6 weeks. I think cartilage heals faster than bone, but if he had several fractures to the cartilage, they should probably be cautious

I've had nasal surgery and I know that if a month after surgery I got bumped on the nose I would have nearly fainted, cried like a baby, and reached for the Vodka

I know it was an accident and I know Iggy didn't mean to hurt him, but I find it hard to believe he did not see him standing there.

Nah, we looked at it from all our angles and he definitely didn’t try to hurt him.

Fuck Iggy. He was smiling about it

I'm sure he saw him standing there, but he was standing right where Iguodala was going to land after a dunk. I'm actually surprised Zeller didn't move at all.

well he was just 7 feet
you know now what I mean
and before too long
my elbow crushed his nose
well how could I land
in another way
when I saw him standing there

You forgot the oooooh!

That's what I thought. Why was Zeller just standing there like a dufus in Iggy's landing zone? He deserved to get hit.

I like my nose ok except I didn't notice until recently that it is not centered properly at all (broken twice and never set). Which probably explains why I don't have any biological children; I have read that women pick symmetry in a mate. :) (of course @theHCP will probably think there are other reasons so I will add this to reduce the effects of any BAM)

i beleive i broke my nose when i was young. Sunglasses never sit right on my face now. either that or one ear is lower than the other. Lol.

but he still has to come down. What gets me is zeller just standing there. Get out of the way! I learned in highschool you dont stop under the hoop when someone is dunking or you will get run over.

Fuck Iggy. He was smiling about it

no way man. Watch it again. Its clearly a grimacing look of oh shit. That was baaad!

id say the Blazers have a long and winding road ahead of them.
We might have to go back to the ussr to find a replacement for zeller
But with just a little help from our friends…

She loves me ya ya ya. She loves me ya ya ya.

only in an octopus's garden though.

You can joke all you want son, you know what I meant. People on here have been saying how obvious it is that Zeller will help us more than Kanter ever could….. I’ve been saying since they signed him that won’t happen, simply because he won’t be healthy. This is a joke. Paying him more than Enes got in Boston did right. Time to tap into that deep bench…… oh wait.
He was hit square in the nose by a reckless act by Iguodala. It should've been a flagrant. Your nose would've shattered too and no one would be ridiculing you over it, but that's exactly what you are doing.

Here's a radical idea: maybe when a guy is in the air you shouldn't stand right where he is going to land? For the safety of both players, maybe Zeller should have moved out of the way?

come on man. Fans exist in all types. Just because he is a pessimistic fan or a skeptical fan doesn't make him a shitty fan.
What makes a shitty fan is posting lakers stuff all over a blazers forum. :)

And when the broken nosed people living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though the Blazers and their center may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
