Zimmerman Case - Lightning Rod

Yeah. I'm not getting the Obama angle. I'm not a fan of the president, but I think he's been far less involved in issues of race than he should. That's a criticism.

I don't get the Fox News crowd being on Zimmerman's side from day 1. Ok, maybe I do. Appeal to Latino voters. But they're not into racial things. Oh no...

The trouble is he weighs in when he should use the opportunity as a teaching moment. Instead he fans the flames.

Like:
When a guy is fumbling about looking out of place, you should Thank the police officer for his diligences in protecting your property instead of raising all bully hell about him picking on you because of your race.

There are neighborhood watches all over this country. When one is is doing his duty for his community, you shouldn't go kick his azz just because he is looking at you and your bigger.
(survival training 101, he might be an armed little guy).

Barack Obama could do some good but so far he hasn't recognized his opportunities.

so so so wait. I just watched that Obama video. Saying "if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon" is an attempt to divide the country on racial lines? To me, he's commiserating with the family and pointing out that this wasn't gang violence, so we as a country shouldn't ignore it.

Yeah I don't see it. He is showing compassion for the family.

Oh and then there is this case... http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/11/justice/florida-stand-ground-sentencing I seriously don't get this one. 20 years, really?

It's what I see. And I'm not at all a fan of the president. But let's be real.

I don't really get the aggressiveness from either side here

The guy should have stayed in his car, but he didn't, and shit happened

The inherent distrust of Zimmerman is perplexing, but this isn't a racist issue, its a sexist issue

All women jury

yeah..sad to say, that is how you see it. That is an indication of why this country is going down the tubes. The zero information dont care, and those like you who are informed refuse to admit when things are aginst your point of view or political leanings

which one are you?

which one are you?

I think this whole deal is way out of hand. Race should have never been an issue. Ialso question if this case shouldhave ever gone to trial. I believe that it did so only because of the race issue.

Now there are those calling for obama to once again get involved and make this a federal case..come the fuck on..

If the Florida stand your ground law is wrong, well it is up to those in that state to change it

Where were these guys when OJ butchered his x wife and her boyfriend? Oh, wait, that was different

The case went to court because a kid was shot and the law is questionable.

That said, they will make a civil rights case out of this and it should be.

You can't have southern states making laws like this so minorities can be hunted or shot where there are "no witnesses."

Continue the witch hunt I suppose.

And it was a self defense case. Nothing to do with civil rights.

hoop fam

I contend that had this been black on black, white on whit or brown on brown, it is not a national story and would have never recieved political pressure form all corners, NAACP to the whitehouse.

If race is not the issue, how can it be a civil rights case..this is just another diversion

Really Denny? soutern states making laws to hunt down minoriets? I like to think that before oboma, we had come a lot further than that as a nation..

Re: Zimmerman Case - Lightening Rod

I understand the anger of you and others. I'm guessing almost none of you have actually been in black culture, though. You grew up in Tualatin, FFS.

Dude, you grew up in Montana.

Re: Zimmerman Case - Lightening Rod

How the fuck do you know that? I really have to wonder about someone who manages to make themselves believe that.

I'm waiting for the NRA to say if Trayvon had been armed, none of this would've happened.

No, its proven fact that black people can kill white people with their bare hands.

Re: Zimmerman Case - Lightening Rod

You can't be serious!

The fact is Martin miscalculated. If George Zimmerman had been a big fella the kid would have let it go after telling his girl friend that a sorry azz cracker is following me. I doubt he would have decided to attack a 6'3" fellow but as it was he apparently decided he was going to kick the little cracker's azz. That was the first mistake, then he made another, he failed to consider the little fella might be packing. Those two were fatal errors. It is always legal to defend yourself
and 5'7" on 6'2" normally takes an equalizer.

Height has absolutely 0 to do with winning a fight.

Denny, how many whites murder blacks and how many blacks murder whites in each of the southern states.

I want you to look up the numbers, make a nice spreadsheet, and post it here for everyone to see.

Do your own research.

Yeah, his size advantage did him zero amount of good, heh? But he didn't make that judgment
before it was too late.

Looks like Trevor Martin threw one punch, then got shot.

Height advantage doesn't make up for the other guy having a gun.

Wow! That is a pathetic statement. Read the Constitution fella. Start with the 10th amendment for a short cut.

You are allowed to defend yourself in every state I think, Oregon for sure (besides Florida).

Re: Zimmerman Case - Lightening Rod

It's already been said that the injuries sustained on the back of his head aren't really consistent with getting his head smashed into the ground over and over.

He had some minor lacerations... big deal. No bumps. No bruising. No signs of a concussion. Nothing. It's not even certain his nose was broken, either.

Guy was getting his ass kicked and pulled a gun. Disgusting.

Injuries were consistant......and what was said was made up by that particular media source. Zimmerman really got his head smashed. Martin got what he deserved...he should have left like he was suppose to.....another words he was looking to beat somebody down since when do you go picking a fight with a security guard who has a gun. Martin dies due to his own ignorance and he had a history of it
