Re: 4 star receiver commits to Oregon

Thanks for the response . .. so I don't appear too much like a "true freshman," could you move this into that thread.

Thanks

haha no worries, already did. This class is looking great so far, with some pretty big name targets still out there. Exciting times!

updated to add Blackmon as a commit, wow I never even had him on the prospects... sorry about that guys. :sigh:

Lyerla should be priority #1 now, IMO.

Given where the school is now with recruits (committed and available), who would be everyone's "top 4", if things fell just right for Oregon?

Ed O.

if things fell just right I would have to say:

Lyerla
Moala
Dawson
and maybe another one of the DT's (Heyward, McReynolds, and Simmons)

although Lee would be very nice as well.

Realistically I am thinking
Lyerla
Lee
Kelley
and Heyward maybe?

things falling just right for the programs best interest would include having Heimuli not go on his mission and having Hamani Stevens return from his wanting to resume his football career. That would go a long ways towards calming the DT concerns. Most importantly things breaking the Ducks way would involve Jadeveon Clowney realizing his life's dream is to be a Duck. That guy is an absolute stud and was blasting most anyone in his way last night

limiting choices to just the main realistic known guys, I'd love to add the top 3 on rivals board (Lee, Dawson & Lyerla) and then to beef up the DLine some more I'll take any one of the three 4* DTs (Simmons, Heyward, McReynolds)... I'd include Latu here if the concerns about his grades don't hold water and he qualifies.

This.

Man... I got to watch a bit of the replay of the game and Clowney is insane. I can totally see why he's the #1 guy on ESPN.

How could the recruiting violations affect them on this LOI day?

my guess would be cause it could hurt an already non powerhouse school for the future. USC still has pull with kids, but I could see how it could hurt Texas Tech this year. Especially if the kids were trying to decide between them and us.

Colt Lyerla just commited to Oregon during the 2nd quarter.

Huge commit

just beat me to it! :) great GREAT news!!!!

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiit!!

Awesome.

Give me a few DTs and i'm set with a near top 5 class.

some high praise from Rivals

"Lyerla's frame could hold another 25 pounds. He has to be the spitting image of Brian Urlacher when he was a SENIOR at New Mexico. He is an athletic anomaly who can test off the charts - even at the NFL combine - right now. The last athlete that had this much physical size and talent while playing running back in high school was Julius Peppers."

whoah whoah whoah... spitting image of Urlacher when he was a senior in COLLEGE!??! This dude is in High School still. And even being mentioned in the same breath as Julius Peppers athletic wise... Dang Dizzle!

also to those who are new to recruiting.... this is what we mean about the ups and downs, and not to get too caught up in those ups and downs. A couple weeks ago we lost a few good recruits to Cal, but in the last week we picked up two big recruits in Lyerla and Blackmon. Its all part of the game. :)

LMAO at pokemon. Repped.

Lyerla is one of my favorite recruits along with Randall.

just announced that Texas Tech is in hot water with the NCAA over recruiting violations

along with TT the Ducks are in the final few schools being considered by DT Delvon Simmons and DE Brendon Jackson

Simmons would be an amazing get. I heard that during practice for the Army game he was unblockable, and during the game he finished with two sacks in limited time. Kid is going to be a monster.

Heyward or Simmons would be a cherry on top of this recruiting class.

Lyerla's been the guy I've wanted for a long time now. Awesome get by the staff. He's going to be an absolute stud right from the get-go.

I agree with Heyward or Simmons.

Looks like we lost out on Moala. Cal gets another one. Damn.

Maola reportedly checked in at 350+lbs for the Army AA game, not sure how that would have played out in Oregon's team wide focus on speed.

btw... I'd like Heyward and Simmons. The Ducks want to switch to a 3-4 and these two fit the bill at NT and SSDE to a T. While not a done deal by any means, I don't think landing both is far fetched.

Lyerla's a great get. Not just because of his impact, personally, but because it hopefully will help ensure that the Ducks won't let any local guys get away.

The Ducks need to own the state of Oregon... owning Washington would be nice, too, but with the Huskies back in the picture that's not going to happen.

Hopefully the Ducks can take care of business against Auburn and use it as one last bounce for this recruiting class!

Ed O.

Own the Pac NW.

Oregon has a lot to offer that other Pac NW schools can't offer.

LOL if we can take both of them and run, I would be happy as hell. Top 5 class for sure.

We already know that with the recruiting the last two years (and longer with James/Thomas/Barner/Harris all sophs and so on) Oregon will only get better within the coming years. As we get better, the recruiting will as well. I think we hit the point where we can sustain a national presence to soon be considered an elite program. Fuck traditional.
