I like the play at the 2 minute mark

also, word is he's up to 245 pounds and likely to get a big bump in his ranking following the Army AA game/week. That was the first time most of the various national recruiting site's people were able to see him in person and he is supposed to have been one of the most impressive players in practices. Currently he's ranked as the #87 prospect in the country by rivals

dang he is so much bigger than his teammates. and I too like the play at the 2:00 mark ;)

depending on attrition & LDS missions (Stevens & Heimuli) this recruiting class will probably number about 26-28 total. There are currently 21 guys verbally committed though it's very possible that 1 or more have grade issues... last years class where everyone qualified was an anomaly. Chatter is LB Kyrie Wilson is borderline with his grades and QB Jerrard Randall didn't do well on his first SAT test... we'll see

they'll probably add at least one more DT to the class... I'm hoping it's Simmons which could bring his HS teammate Jackson on board too. But dependent on the LDS guys, I don't see a huge need of adding another big body to the mix for next year's team. To me, the most important remaining guy they're going after is Inside LB Lamar Dawson as he'd really bolster the strength of their 3-4 alignment. He's taking 3 more OVs and has said he'll probably be announcing on signing day. In his interviews he seems bright and grounded. In an interview where he was going over various recruiting possibilities he described his OV to Oregon in absolutely glowing terms

not exactly sure of who is ditching who, but according to the latest McReynolds is going to take his talents elsewhere. My reading of the tea leaves/best guess is that with Heimuli coming back, Oregon really only has space for one more DT and there are others they value more. He'd kind of played it cool with his Duck chances often questioning whether he'd be able to take the weather in Eugene (he's from DC... go figure) and I'm guessing they stopped showing him the love lately

from Oregon's prospective they're shooting for the guys they really really want or being okay with what they already have

another thought about McReynolds. Last year was Chip's first recruiting class. They ended up signing 6'4 Ricky Heimuli, 6'6 Isaac Remington, & 6'4 Tony Washington... they also apparently directed 6'6 DE Taylor Hart to beef up and become a DT. So far this year's class has 6'5 Jared Ebert, 6'5 Sam Kamp and seems to have 6'5 Delvon Simmons as it's main remaining target. Kevin McReynolds is 6'2...

Generally Oregon's defensive plan is to load the box to stop the run & bring pressure from unexpected spots (zone blitzes) forcing the QB into making quick decisions. Having height/length along the DLine cuts down passing lanes, further mucking things up for the opponent's offense. While I'm sure they aren't completely set on seeking height for their DLine prospects, it does seem to be a priority

Great strategy if you have the linemen for it.

according to various sources including his facebook page and interviews, LB Kyrie Wilson is no longer a Duck commit

Opens up some room to find another quality player. Not saying Wilson wasn't, but if we're in a position to take some more talented players(according to scouting services anyway), then some guys are just going to get left out. I wish Wilson luck though.

We have a ton of talent coming from the LB position from this class and if we could add Lamar Dawson or Branden Jackson or maybe both our 3-4 in a couple years would be scary good.

Also according to DT, Scott Frost took a flight out to Miami to possibly get in the mix for WR Juwan Caesar

San Diego NT Christian Heyward is coming in for his OV on friday... his final 3 are San Diego St. UCLA & Oregon

with Brady Hoke leaving for Michigan, SDSU doesn't have a head coach. UCLA fired it's Defensive Coordinator a month back. Color me optimistic here :)

nice recognition for him there. So do you think the #87 overall prospect on his profile is from the old Rivals 100 still?

also.. looking at Urlachers little profile next to Colt... I didnt know Urlacher was from Pasco Wa lol. Learn something new everyday. OT comment over

no, the new top 100 list comes out sometime today. The top 250 list and beyond that comes out later this week. It looks like Blackmon and French were also bumped to higher level 4*s.

btw... did anyone catch the Army AA game where in the 3rd Quarter French made up two steps on 5* Bama RB commit Hart? The Color Commentator declared him "gone" only to be caught from behind by a 6'6 blur

thanks for the info :) I kinda caught the play you are referring to but it was on an online feed. Didnt really click right away that it was a Duck though :D

for a sense of how recruiting has been going for Oregon in the opinion of rivals, here is their top 100 recruits over the past 5 years

2011: Colt Lyerla (26), Devon Blackmon (35), Christian French (87)

2010: Lache Seastrunk (26), Ricky Heimuli (88), Curtis White (97)

2009: Cliff Harris (41)

2008: None

2007: Myles Wade (74) didn't qualify

And still in the running for Other top 100 guys like Simmons, Heyward, Dawson, and even Lee! Although I read on espn that $C is the team to beat for Lee now.

Looking at the Rivals list... isn't it a bit weird that Oregon is the only school that hasn't offered Curtis Grant (#2 overall) that's on his school list?

Ed O.

I'm not sure what it was before.. but they update that, so it could have been there before. I.E. they offered him, but when Oregon was put at "Low interest" and when Anthony Wallace committed, and Dawson still showing higher interest, they decided to focus their offers eslewhere. A lot of times offers will get pulled when the position is filled. Not sure thats the case though.

Just read that USC lost their Passing Game Coordinator and WR Coach, Morton... wonder if that will have any effect on say.... oh.... Farmer

even with mutual expressed interest, Oregon requires that a player visit before they can accept an offer. If Grant hasn't expressed interest in visiting, then no offer extended

I'm relatively sure as the #2 rated prospect in the country that he's not been flying under the Ducks radar

hey Stomp are you hearing anything on recent rumblings abour Jalen Grimble?

STOMP, Wheels, and others, thanks for frequently updating this thread. It's exciting to see the Ducks in the mix for players that only a few years ago probably wouldn't have taken calls from UO.

not a problem at all.. its kinda nice actually to have people around here to talk to who are as into the Ducks and follow recruiting like I enjoy. And yes it is EXTREMELY exciting to be a Ducks fan right now... so many big name kids who are noticing up here. Loving it!
