Some guy over on Duckterritory says 8 out of 9 analysts are predicting Delvin Simmons to Oregon. Now he does not say which analysts or who they are affiliated with. Here's the quote from him.

All the analysts are coming out of the woodwork with their predictions now. I now show 8 of 9 have posted their belief that Simmons will choose Oregon. Only dissenter says TT...

Roderick Byers has a press conference scheduled for 1PM Pacific today with South Carolina, Georgia Tech & Oregon in the final three. Here is his Facebook status following an OV to Eugene last weekend

"Feels good to be back home.... cuda stayed a whole month in that place... ahhh the lord is good!"

interesting indeed... sounds like he enjoyed himself.

true but usually most wont be making a huge impact this year, unless you are a JC transfer like Vaughn, or a freak like Julio Jones or something. I'd be looking more at the names of Cantu, Dungy, Lowe, Huff, Tuinei, Hoffman, and possible Hawkins at WR for help this year. (and Vaughn but I was naming off the people already here)

updated the original post to have commits. I dont think I missed anyone.. but wouldnt be the first time, if I did.

interesting twist on the Byers commitment.

Byers visited Oregon last weekend and had a great visit by all accounts. Oregon head coach Chip Kelly was on hand before the decision today, as we had mentioned on Monday he would be.

There is a twist in this recruitment however.

Although Byers has made his public commitment and signing day is only a week away, if Clemson decides to offer he could switch.

Clemson has not offered Byers a scholarship, however they have always been his dream school. If Clemson loses on a couple of other defensive line prospects, look for things to get tricky.

For now, Oregon has landed a commitment from a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman that could easily bulk up to play the defensive tackle position.

Duck fans should keep a sharp eye on the recruitment of Asheville (N.C.) defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan, currently a soft verbal to Clemson. If they manage to keep him, it would likely indicate no offer will be made to Byers.

DE- Roderick Byers picks the Ducks. Scout says DT but I dunno about a Tackle just yet.

if Oregon is to primarily run a 3-4, then the three D Line spots are WSDE, NT & SSDE.

rivals lists Byers as a SSDE which at 260 lbs coming out of HS seems a fair/conservative projection as you'd like to have the guy at that position around 275. Ideally a NT is around 300 lbs like Heimuli, Keliikipi & Ebert.

here is a link that should provide some insight into the exact science of recruiting a D1 Defensive Tackle/Nose Tackle

correct Thats what I was thinking when I saw him as a SSDE on Rivals. I just cant get the prototypical 4-3 out of my head as I'm so used to it lol. But yeah SSDE at around 275 I could def see happening.

Pac 12 North Recruiting Needs

Oregon

Receiver: The Ducks need to restock at receiver with the departures of Jeff Maehl and D.J. Davis. They have three commitments from players listed as receivers and three others listed as "athletes" who could end up at the position. They could end up with as many as six in this class.

Defensive line: Three of four starting D-linemen from 2010 are gone. So far the class includes two tackles and two ends, but one of the four players listed as an outside linebacker also could end up as a rush end.

Linebacker: Two 0f three starters and a key backup need to be replaced, though there's solid, experienced depth. Five of the 23 commitments are listed at linebackers, a position that one of the "athletes" also could end up playing.

I hope he's a Trojan and takes one of their few remaining scholarships giving the Ducks that better a shot at Simmons Dawson & Heyward

I like the way you think my friend :)

regardless of who USC gets into their program, Kelly >>> Kiffin

it's not like the cupboards were void of talent when LK arrived... they've had top rated recruiting classes every year for the past decade. But while they've continued to sign a boatload of top rated talent this year, their O-Line depth is getting scary thin. If the NCAA ruling goes as expected, they could end up being leapfrogged by a lot of PAC-12 programs next season.

Oregon's rise in recruiting has come as kids saw that they could win here. What will happen to USC when kids see that mediocrity is the new standard? I'm guessing the same thing that has happened to UCLA... have you seen their class thus far?

yeah UCLA's class is pretty pathetic to this point. The thing that still worries me though, is for some reason Slick Rick is a pretty strong closer. Although it would take a minor miracle, but I still am worried a little.

sorry I normally dont get caught up in rumors, but man I love LOI Day and week and recruiting stuff! This kids highlights on D are better IMO.

# Ht:5'9" verified

# Wt:160 lbs verified

Don't we have 5 other running backs just like this?

he is listed as an ATH or CB by services... Think of it this way IMO Cliff Harris minus 3 inches (heightwise (I have to specify that with you)) ;) and a 10th of a second faster in the 40.

aaaaand Cliff Harris was never the #5 Overall Prospect on the Rivals 100. He was #46... which is still good :)
