not a problem at all.. its kinda nice actually to have people around here to talk to who are as into the Ducks and follow recruiting like I enjoy. And yes it is EXTREMELY exciting to be a Ducks fan right now... so many big name kids who are noticing up here. Loving it!

I like this board better than eDuck, at least in terms of just being about hard news for fans, and being able to share personal experiences as a Duck fan. The S2 format is so user-friendly, I'll try and recruit some posters from another board here. Not eDuck, though.

Keep up the good work! STOMP should probably be a mod as well, and he won't believe I endorse him!

Yeah, I'll bring it up. He's doing great things :)

nope... I'll keep an eye out though

cool thanks. Probably nothing.. I just read a few things on DT which made it sound like there was late interest being shown from him.

Def bring over all you can/want. I've been getting kinda bored with nothing to moderate here  this place has been kinda a ghost town since the Natty.

I'm hearing multiple sources say that Lake Koa Ka'ai committed to Oregon last night. Waiting to hear some news, and it appears Justin Hopkins from Duckterritory is going to make an announcement on the situation here soon.

Good pickup? They've got him as three stars.
here's an example of another Hawaiian 3* lineman

time will tell how good a player Lake turns out to be... it's sort of hard for the recruiting services to accurately gauge the Hawaiian kids as the overall competition isn't that good and of course it's a long ways to go for them to evaluate players. But I'm a big fan of establishing a recruiting pipeline/tradition in the Pacific Islands as the Samoans are generally huge kids. They also come from smaller towns so the athletes who project to a D1 level are probably more prone to liking a smaller college town like Eugene. Because of this hope of mine, I've got my fingers crossed that Mariota eventually emerges as a star.

again, I suggest taking a look a MM's Sr. highlight tape that I linked earlier

decent weather this weekend showing off the University for the various recruits in town. Fans sure showed them the love at yesterday's parade

pretty likely we'll add a couple more names to the list in the following days. Supply and demand factors with the limited amount of spots left may be coming into play

looks like devon blackmon isn't too happy about another WR commit:

"Oregon is getting the same amount receivers as Usc, lol I mines well stay in cali, #Sheesh"

Per twitter.

That kid is the biggest attention whore. I really wouldn't be surprised if he switched his commit. Does he think he'll come in and get minutes right away?

not sure, but I could see how (the hope of) early PT could be something that keeps your mind off of being a thousand miles away from friends and family. I wouldnt stress about what was said. If a kid doesnt want to be here because of competition... then its probably for the best for both sides. (not singling him out in this, that goes for any recruit)

the dude just likes to talk.. nothing new for a Wideout. This was right after the other tweet.

Lolahaha, I LOVE competition, there Nothing like the feeling of win! I just don't like breakin hearts, to ppl who think they will start!

per Ken Goe's Twitter... Ludwig the Cal OC is going to SDSU... wonder if that will affect any Recruits... (Bigelow?)

RT @TomDienhart: I have learned that Cal offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig will be named to the same post at San Diego State today.

just about every top athlete I've personally known or interacted with in HS and at UO has had an over-inflated ego. Having everyone around (friends, girls, coaches, etc...) fawning all over how great you are from an early age is probably a leading cause. My personal experiences are why I don't have illusions about various athletes being the great people off the court/field that they're portrayed to be.

one glaring exception was Terrell Brandon. I guarded him in college pickup games a few times and though he'd just destroy, he always remained respectful and quiet towards me and the other players... really nice guy

Like we need another RB

lol couldnt hurt.. I do believe James will be gone after next season.. and Bigelow could RS this year. He would have 4 years of eligibility with no LMJ in front of him.

true... I just find it a little more common among WR's lol. Maybe thats moreso in the NFL that makes me think that way lol.

And yeah, I never dealt personally with Terrell Brandon, but he just seemed like a great person. Thanks for that little story

The question had been raised in here.. not entirely sure where, but why Oregon isnt getting all the Huge recruits yet, since they played in the Natty. nice little tidbits on that here.

Pete Carroll:
“It gives you a greater spread and reach in recruiting,” Carroll said. “Where we used to try and talk guys into coming to visit, they were calling and asking to visit us. It changed the landscape for recruiting for us quite drastically.”
“Next year is when you can see Oregon really get a nice boost,” said Greg Biggins, director of recruiting for ESPN Rise. “Typically, the way it works, when you have a big year on the field, it really doesn’t pay off till the following year. They have a chance to have their best class in 10 years in 2012.”

the Biggins quote is sort of odd as last year's class was probably their best ever (let alone 10 years) if judged from the outset, and this year's has leapfrogged that. I'm for this trend continuing and all, but...

So who's left that we are going after and how many more commits can we get on scholarship.

I really want Delvon Simmons. Besides Lyerla he got the biggest boost from rankings from the Army AA game. We still don't know about Hamani Stevens and I really think he's the best DT target left. Heyward would be nice if we couldn't get Simmons.

EDIT: After searching at DT one of the members wrote this.

With the departure of Javes Lewis, I believe there are 62 players on scholarship eligible to return for 2011. This includes former walk-ons Hoffman and Beard who were on scholarship for 2010, but not necessarily renewable. It also includes 2010 grayshirt Issac Dixon, now enrolled. Using 62 as a base, they can take 23 this cycle to meet the NCAA limit of 85. However, there will undoubtedly be additional attrition besides Lewis, due to transfers, academic casualties, etc. IMO, they can take anywhere from 23(minimum) to 26-28. Using early entries counted against 2010 and/or grayshirts deferred to 2012 the annual limit of 25 should not be a problem.

At present, there are 22 verbals. It will be interesting to see how many CK chooses to sign. Any above 23 will be an early indication of the amount of attrition/loss of scholarships that the staff expects prior to next fall.

I read recently that Stevens left on his 2 year mission in Oct. 2009 which would make it extremely unlikely he'd play next year.
