Whitney (Dalif.) Rocklin three-star quarterback Jake Rodrigues has been extremely quiet to the media since his commitment to Oregon in May.
The 6-foot-3, 210 pound prep has led his team to a 7-2 overall record as they prepare for their final regular season game tonight.
"Tonight is a big game for us, it's important for playoff seeding," Rodrigues said. "I've been working on my reads and my game management this season. Our team is really hitting their stride right now which is big headed into playoffs."
Rodrigues has thrown for 21 touchdowns on the season so far. Last season he had 22 touchdowns which he should surpass this season.
There are no reports regarding Rodrigues wavering from his Oregon commitment. That did not stop programs from recruiting him earlier, however that appears to have finally sunk in with a few college recruiters.
"I think they get the point now," he said. "USC was recruiting me hard but they haven't called in three weeks or so. Nebraska was also recruiting me, but hasn't called in a while either. I keep telling them all there is no change and I'm 100-percent Duck."
Some quarterback controversy of sorts has culminated from the success of backup Bryan Bennett during a Darron Thomas injury. Rodrigues weighed in his opinions of how Bennett performed in relief.
"Bennett played with a lot of poise. Injuries are tough but it's part of the game. I think he stepped in and showed that I'll have some serious competition when I arrive at Oregon. I think Oregon continues to show why they are a powerhouse and they haven't lost a step in that offense."
Rodrigues is putting in his dues on the recruiting trail. He said he has been recruiting teammate Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, Arik Armstead and Shaq Thompson.
"I know Jalen is visiting Oregon for the civil war game," Rodrigues said. "I'm going to Stanford next week and I'll take my official to the USC game. Shaq sounds pretty interested in Oregon and I know we are in the hunt. It's tough to say on Arik, but I think Oregon will get a visit."
