pulling a fast top LB out of the heart of SEC country would be amazing. He's recovering from a torn ACL and is supposed to have Bama leading. Love his highlights!

Is Justin Hopkins ever right?

Yes. Are you being sarcastic? It's not just JH but the whole DT staff is really good. I remember B. Oliver was probably the first person to break the DeAnthony Thomas story and Hopkins predicted correctly that Cottrell and Castro would commit after the ASU game well before I seen most sources say so.

He also said he doubted Thomas would play against Colorado but your source said otherwise. So yes he has been right.

Apparently Coach Campbell, Azzinarro, Frost and others spoke with Armstead today and apparently things went real well.

please be wrong again with Foster

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

and yes this class is miles ahead of where we normally are at this time of year. And our staff are normally very strong finishers. Could be a fun first Wednesday in Feb!

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

He's a three star guy, right? Meh

4* Rivals

and 3* Grade 79 on ESPN which explains grade like this

75.0 - 79.49 -These players show flashes of dominance, but not on a consistent basis -- especially when matched up against the top players in the country. Players closer to a 79 rating possess BCS-caliber ability and the potential to be a quality starter or all-conference player. Players closer to a 70 rating are likely non-BCS conference caliber prospects.

79.50 - 84.99 - These players have the ability to create mismatches versus most opponents and have dominant performances. These players could contribute as a true freshmen and could end up as all-conference or All-America candidates during their college careers and develop into difference-makers over time.

Not sure what part of 79 he falls under though

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

also "traits" listed by ESPN are "Inside Run Support- (shredding, strength at point of attack)" "Tackling" and "Coverage Skills"

The inside Run support intrigues me.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

28th best at his position in the country is good. I just think Oregon should start getting more top tier kids.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

that will come. Most of these top rated kids arent committed by now. They can afford to wait and be picky cause kids of their caliber always have a spot open where they choose to go. Lyerla for example didnt commit until January. If kids like Bafaro are the lower end of our classes then we are going to be very very good for a long time. We are way ahead of where we are normally at this time of year.

4* is a tier better then they've historically landed. Only one LB on the current roster was rated a *4 by rivals (Anthony Wallace).

Ekanem and Kwon are still scheduled for OVs

I really hope we can somehow land at least one of those guys

Ya, Wheels. For whatever reason we have never been able to and the big name recruits at LB. Although we have turned out many fine ones over the years

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

No, it was a legit question because I'm not familiar with him or his exposure with the program. All I know of him is that he's a message board poster. Is this correct? Is there more? If you're so tight with him, can you encourage him to come here and post? Or, is this just a case of you lurking on other boards and reposting what you read?

So, now you want to belittle my connections and call them out because they said Thomas' injury wasn't serious and was expected to play vs CU - which was reported while there was still a lot of speculation regarding the extent of his knee? Cool. If you're that small of a person... I was told Thomas would play and LMJ wouldn't - but also shared specific info regarding LMJ's rehab and where he was at.

I won't message you anymore despite my connection having the initial info on the extend of LMJ's injury -- while everyone was freaking out that his arm was broke -- or that Cottrell and Rodrigues were Ducks. I value my friendship and the info my friend passes on - and it dates back to knowing days before that Ngata, J-Stew, Solomona, Fletcher, Peelle, Sirmon even dating back to guys like O'Neil would be Ducks.

Again, are you even friends with this message board poster or is it just someone you creepishly lurk upon? :devilwink:

Love to chat more, but have some work to do with the DAF.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

LB is one of my favorite positions (right up there with SS) and I think this would be a great pickup. Keep em coming!

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Guys, I'm not sure how I feel about posting ALL recruiting news in this one thread. I think it takes away from the forum as whole. I think this is a great place for recruiting discussion, but if there's a big commit or a hot rumor, I think it should be posted in the main forum.

I agree, NB. I think the sticky is good for "so I hear..." or general discussions about potential recruits or discussions about current verbals, but in the past I've started a new thread for ever new verbal or really good stuff.

me personally, I have a hard time remembering what was posted in what thread when its thrown about anywhere. Like where I replied to something, or where I asked something, or even certain pages or links that could be recruiting related that I cant find. As I said though thats me personally. I look at how Dawgman is scattered around and it reminds me of some hybrid O-live where I cant find topics, or they are scattered everywhere. But if it is the will of the counsel :)

I understand, but the only thing that really bothers me is that I use the Blazers forum as a news outlet. I know that if there is something breaking, it will be on that forum within minutes, and that will pull new people in. If everything related to recruiting is posted here, I think new people might miss it or it might not show up on google. I would only stress that breaking news like commits and verbals should have their own threads.
