Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

very valid points Nate. I still worry some about the clutter. Would some sort of a "compromise" be something that helps? Kinda like if a new thread was created saying for example "Bafaro commits to Oregon!" and then merging it into this thread with a redirect be something of interest?

I'm just throwing ideas out there, not saying that is the best route. I just thought of that first.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

tested it out. The above post is the redirect.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

damn doesnt look like that would be most convenient. the redirect takes you to the first post.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

hmm unless you click on the "last post arrow" that brings you to the post. lol

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Yeah and you're not really avoiding clutter if you do that. You still have the topics, but only one thread. Not really worth it.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

No, it was a legit question because I'm not familiar with him or his exposure with the program. All I know of him is that he's a message board poster. Is this correct? Is there more? If you're so tight with him, can you encourage him to come here and post? Or, is this just a case of you lurking on other boards and reposting what you read?

I'm sorry I should've clarified. Justin Hopkins runs the Duck territory website and their main scout. He used to work for Scout.com and has connections with tons of recruits. I have a subscription there so I am leaking tidbits from that site. Not creepily stalking him just trying to share new info that I've learned.

So, now you want to belittle my connections and call them out because they said Thomas' injury wasn't serious and was expected to play vs CU - which was reported while there was still a lot of speculation regarding the extent of his knee? Cool. If you're that small of a person... I was told Thomas would play and LMJ wouldn't - but also shared specific info regarding LMJ's rehab and where he was at.

How did I belittle your connection? I was only trying to prove that Hopkins is a credible source for Duck information because you asked if he was ever right? Really not trying to get in another argument with you.

I guess I didnt say that right lol. What worries me most is losing the posts and input and links in multiple threads. I dont have anything against you or Targus or anyone posting news in its own thread. But having multiple conversations about the same topic could get kind of hard IMO.

Don't listen to him. Keep doing it how you're doing it. Its fine.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

I mean I'm not opposed to any changes. I want people to enjoy their experience and how they get their info and discussion going. So if people want to start a thread on it thats fine. But for me I kinda like the one stop shopping, where I know everything is. I wont move your threads to this one if you hate me and dont wanna talk with me here :(

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

One stop shopping is ideal and its how most boards do things. Who wants to have to scroll through and click through a bunch of different posts to read daily recruiting news.

Not talking daily recruiting news. Talking big news like commits. Those don't happen daily.

I like the endless single recruiting thread. I've been stuck at home with a case of poison oak and killed some time flipping through last years thread yesterday. It was fun to recall how that unfolded chronologically. It's like a time capsule of events

This. Also, this thread is 12 pages. Not hundreds or thousands... 12. Even if you merged all the other commit threads from the past year into this one it would be like what... 25 pages? It's not some massive behemoth that's so hard to navigate that people can't even have a conversation. This forum isn't big enough to be making seperate threads about everything that happens. I agree that individual stories that are noteworthy, like the DAT commit, deserve their own conversations. But how is it not able to happen here? There's not enough people in this forum to derail a continual conversation about anything in this thread. Just my 2 cents. Single thread forever!

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Guys, I'm not saying we should go away from this thread. I'm not saying this thread should end. I'm simply saying that big news, like Bafaro giving a verbal, should also be posted as a thread of its own. That's big news and it's something I would like to see as soon as I log onto the forum.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

I prefer different threads myself (I say this as a poster, not as an admin... I defer to the mods in this forum in terms of how it should be run). Maybe we can have different threads that then get wrapped into the "recruiting" thread when they're done? That way conversations about certain topics can be differentiated when they're happening, but encapsulated into one for posterity?

Like I said, though: whatevs. :)

Wasn't Foster supposed to announce too?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

This is a huge get for Altman. That back court, next year, has a chance to be the best in the Pac 12

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

As for the forum recruiting thread. The ONLY change I would like to see is having a basketball specific sticky thread. Or if nothing else, a basketball specific sticky thread that covers all Ducks hoops news

sure thing.

Do you mind starting the thread that way you have the option of editing the Original Post if you want to add news to it at all, and then I'll sticky it? College Basketball is not my strength at all. I think the last full game I watched was the elite 8 game with Oregon vs Florida against Noah, Horford, and Brewer.

alrighty. Got it stickied :) I'll try and be not totally worthless when I post there. Hell I might need to get more into College BBall for my fix

If Oregon plays 40 minutes of hell like they say they are, they will be very exciting

Him and Jabari Brown are going to be sick.

*4 Athlete David Perkins has reopened his recruiting after earlier committing to Notre Dame. He has identified two schools he plans on visiting, LSU & Oregon. He'd most likely be an outside LB/drop DE on Oregon
