Good Lord at the embarrassment of Riches at Running Back next year. Barner, Thomas, Carson, Marshall (probably would RS I would think) Then hopefully add Tyner to next years class!

I wish Seastrunk well anytime his good play wouldnt affect Oregon... but we are pretty decent without him!

I wouldn't be so quick to think that Marshall is likely to RS. Barner will be the starter, but I think that DAT will play multiple positions next year, and Marshall, in style, is a lot like a young LMJ. Chip has proven that if you earn it in practice, he's going to play you if you're going to help WTD.

I'm stoked about this commitment. Big pick-up, and seemingly a perfect fit for Chip's offense.

oh yeah I'm sure if he earns it he will play. I'd also be fine with him getting a year under his belt in the system though and giving Carson and co more of a role in the Offense. And then have upper classmen of DAT, Carson carrying the load with Marshall still having all that eligibility left.

I wonder if the verbal from Marshall ends the pursuit of Foster?

I hope not. Marshall I dont see anywhere other than RB for this team. Foster can line up in so many different places like DAT, and even Barner, and Huff for us last year.

I hope I'm not reading too much into Foster's moving back his decision a few times, but I'm really hoping its cause he wants to make a good decision for him (and us) and the possible loss of Erickson at ASU could have him wavering.

I'm just thinking that Tyner seems a lock, so maybe focus some of those spots on line?

yeah thats true too. Foster is a talent that you offer if you can though. Especially with players in his mold, like Barner and Huff being upper classmen next year.

Everyone on DT is saying this is not hurting our recruitment of Foster at all.

People have been saying that Oregon is recruiting Foster in the same mold as DAT. A hybrid player that can play receiver and running back. Just get him the ball in space and see what happens.

There are two things James could get from coming back.

1. The NCAA all-time rushing record. I know records and honors don't mean anything to James so that's probably not that enticing, but it would be cool if James was on top of that leaderboard.

2. A national championship shot. There has been no indication that James says he will leave, but with him bulking up, seemingly for the NFL, and the fact he got injured this year I doubt he stays.

I can't imagine how unstoppable he would be as a senior though.

Marshall's like the same exact size as Jeremiah Johnson was. Hopefully we can get Tyner. A little sugar and spice.

Herbstreit with the plug on coach Campbell and how great he is during the Stanford game had to of had a great impact with recruiting.

Huh? JJ was 5'9, 215ish. Marshall is listed at 5'10", 195, but watching him on film, he looks more like 5'11", 190.

We just keep restocking huh? Wonder if our 38 degrees and raining weather during the SC game would detour any players from coming up here?

You can tell that a guy is one inch taller and five pounds heavier based on YouTube clips? Man. I can't do that.

Doubt the 2 or so home games we play in rainy November would bother any players.

3 home games in bad weather. :devilwink: we plan on hosting the Pac 12 Title game for a long time!

There's a rumor going around that Foster is going to announce tomorrow. It's all just speculation though.

Here's the link from an Arizona message board.

There's no source and the arizona newspaper website hasn't said anything so I don't know if this true.

Some people speculate that Foster has gotten worried about if Oregon has an open spot since Marshall committed so would want to commit as soon as possible.

Who knows?

Also Dwayne Stanford is serious about Oregon.

"I am down to Cincinnati, Ohio State and Oregon" said the #28 player in Ohio per 247sports.com.

"I am very serious about them" Stanford said regarding the Ducks. "I like the staff and the program in general. it will be good to get out there and see what it's really like. I was out there this summer for 'The Opening' at Nike and it was amazing."

A 6'5" speedster as a wideout? I'd be pleased as punch! Hopefully he has better hands than Jaison Williams.

Wow, he's interested, AND he hasn't been out yet to the school

That is what we need, tall ass athletic wide receivers! Ocho-cinco style!

I'm getting to the party late but the Marshall news is huge. Great get by the coaching staff. They definitely have a "type" of player that they're going after and it seems like RBs are looking at our offense and seeing what LMJ, DAT, and Barner are doing. If I was a fast RB I would want to play for Oregon too.

On the rivals board the insiders relayed that they are sure he's not announcing tomorrow. Foster is being recruited as a WR not a RB at Oregon, so them landing yet another talented RB shouldn't have much bearing... plus he's said he's already made his choice he just doesn't want to overshadow his HS team while the playoffs are going on with the announcement.

I'm expecting his eventual announcement will make most here happy

just separating the wheat from the chafe. Does a recruit prioritize being on their cell poolside in January or playing in a BCS game?

there really isn't a position where the Ducks are thin and lacking young talent. The DLine only graduates two DEs (Hanna & Turner) this year and three from the OLine (Golpashin, Weems, Asper). Last year they signed 3 DLineman who are all redshirting and 5 OLineman and only one of those guys is playing (Fisher). I expect they'll sign another couple of guys, but the cupboard is already pretty stocked

Ya, I agree, but it needs to be stocked with bigger uglies on the lines. I think that is what is separating us from elite status

I'd say a national championship game that came down to the last drive and a straight up domination of the Pac-12 for the last 3 years would be considered elite.

Is LSU's DLine elite? Oregon's DLine is bigger then the Tiger's and their OLine averages 6'5 302 lbs. It would be fair to say that their lines need to be better talent wise for Oregon to acheive elite status as that would be a judgement call, but the raw numbers say that they're plenty big enough.

I've followed recruiting for a decent part of the last decade, but I guess I've never given it much thought. Is there a benefit to being a Silent Commit?

the thing that occurs to me is that a kid can claim a spot in the recruiting class but still be able to a big announcement at the Army game or some public affair. Of course nothing really counts until they sign in February

gotcha. Makes sense. I guess it could be either a benefit for a kid who doesnt want the attention... or a benefit for a kid who really wants the attention.
