Couple of huge developments as of late.

Gary Campbell met with D.J. Foster and since Brown committed to the Beavers, we are in need of a 2nd RB from this class, and it has been confirmed that Campbell let Foster know he has the option to play either RB or WR here.

Also this is the big development, 5* RB and Texas A&M commit Trey Williams has said he wants to visit Oregon. He has apparently been very displeased with the firing of Mike Sherman and might look elsewhere.

"The visit to Oregon definitely had its effects on me, and at one point I thought that there may actually be a strong possibility of me committing there. The players and atmosphere really had me captivated. However, while I was on my visit to Oregon, Coach Azz had let me know there was only one spot left on the d-line in regards to scholarships. Basically, if I wanted the spot, it was all mine, otherwise if someone else committed first, they would have to take that prospects commitment. Some more big news. 4* star athlete de-committed from USC today, and now says he's down to two schools Washington and Oregon.

Who? Jabari Ruffin? He committed in march and was recruited by both Oregon and UW.

Jaydon Mickens committed in October and visited UW but ESPN has Oregon not offering...

Ruffin is a big guy and looks like he's a LB candidate for USC.

You guys are funny. I believe he's referring to Mickens. He's a 5'9/178# RB/WR who is described as a good all around athlete with great speed but needs to bulk and gain strength if he wants to beat jams at the next level. Described as perfect for slot and dangerous in open field. As far as I can tell, UW has offered and UO has not.

It's Jaydon Mickens, wow can't believe I left his name off that post last night. :crazy:

With USC only being allowed to take on 15 PSA's this year, they'll be turning a lot of players away as they have to decide which ones they absolutely need to take.
 
This, regarding Mickens, from the ESPN Recruiting Blog:

"I'm officially decommitting from USC," Mickens said Wednesday night. "From my perspective, I feel I might be a better fit for other Pac-12 schools. I have to find better opportunities at this time. I can't just go there (USC) because some of my favorite players went there. I have to make my own destiny.

Washington, California and Oregon have become players for Mickens, as the Ducks have upped their recruitment in recent weeks. Washington coaches have had their in-home visit with Mickens, and the speedy wideout will officially visit California on Dec. 16 and Oregon after that.

There's a big rumor going around that the Ducks have a silent DT commit. It's all just speculation, but everyone's trying to find some sort of reasoning why the Ducks would tell Faith the spot was no longer available.
 
Any news on Elis McCarthy or Armstead? Imagine if we got those huge bookends to hub our defense for the next 4 years!!! WOW!!!

Armstead is making his visit to Cal official this weekend. He met with Cal and Oregon coaches at home Thursday and Auburn on Friday.

Because he is taking an OV at Cal, he can't officially visit both Texas and Auburn, as he was planning (and as he could have done had he not made his Cal visit official).

He's already visited Oregon, Notre Dame and Alabama.

they've told several highly rated kids thanks but we're full recently, but have clearly continued to recruit those same positions. Maybe they're just trimming their list of kids who aren't showing them enough interest so as to be able to focus on bigger and/or more likely targets?

For those of you who might not be excited for this get, he is really going unnoticed by scouting circles because he and Oregon have tried to keep him unnoticed.
"Oregon sent me out here (Iowa Western) after I got back from my mission," Bair said. "I went on my mission out of high school and I've been playing here for a year. I was a couple of credits short coming out of high school which is why I had to go to a junior college. When I get to Oregon I will have four years to play three."

Bair and his fiance plan on getting married June 9. They will then move out to Oregon for Stetzon to begin his playing career with the Ducks.

"She's real excited to go to Oregon," he said. "She graduated from Weber State which is why they offered. Utah just offered recently as well. I haven't been sending out my film or anything to any schools. It doesn't matter though, I'm going to Oregon, that's always been the plan."

He said the last time he was measured he was 6'9" 275 and could add 20 pounds easy. This guy is huge even by NFL standards and if he plays like his brother then welcome aboard Stetzon!

Thanks for that info. Was going to ask about his eligibility. 4 years is great. The kid is huge. Can't wait to see what he'll do within the parameters of Oregon's strength and conditioning gurus. If his work ethic resembles anything like his brothers, he'll have a great time at Oregon.

I love when families show loyalty.
 
Brandon Bair was one of my favorite Ducks ever. Adding his little bro, who obviously they've targeted for a long time, is just awesome. I'd expect him to redshirt next season and focus on eating right, working out, and getting integrated into the Duck gameplans.

He's reportedly around 275 now. He has a year and a half to tune up his body and game when he'll be a 22 year old Sophomore. Whoa Nellie!

Any chance he can play a little power forward as well? IIRC, Altman's got a couple open spots... ;)
 
Completely reasonable to see Bair put on 20 pounds with the awesome Oregon programs. Kinda exciting. Hopefully those paws will knock down a lot of passes and kicks in the coming years.
 
This is exactly the size we need to play with the SEC... now he's just gotta put on 20 pounds and we're rockin!!

you do know that Oregon's DLine is bigger then LSU's right? Aren't they supposed to have the best D in the country?

Kelly recently said the Wiskey O-Line reminds him of Stanford's line. We can hang.

But, some extra beef would help. Our last two games vs SEC teams would could have used it.
 
Yes I've heard that our line is as big as LSU's but when I see their front 4 they look a hell of alot bigger than our kids! Sorry but you can pad stats, they did when I played football... everything from measuring guys in their shoes to adding 15 pounds to your weight depending on your position. LSU just looks like men vs boys out there. Not just against us but everyone they have played this year. Bama is not that far behind them.

I think we all know that the national championship is going to have to go through the SEC. A huge fast strong line seems a must have to achieve that goal. I think we are going in the right direction.

You're trying to sell that while watching on TV you could tell that their DLine was bigger then ours even though they were never on the field at the same time? Were you using the officials & the ball as a reference points? Your DLine weight conspiracy extends back to when these same guys on both teams were Seniors in HS and the Oregon DLine kids were listed :smiley-hmmm: slightly bigger...

we've had a pretty stout one for a few years now but some aren't catching on. About the only game in recent seasons where our DLine didn't at least hold it's own was 3 years ago at Stanford. We should be so lucky as to always have it this good.

For those who get star struck with visions of scout/rivals 5* rated DLineman making all the difference, take a look at the All Pac 12 teams for some perspective. Of the 8 guys honored with All Pac 12 team selections this year there were no 5* DLineman (per rivals), 3 were 4*, 3 were 3* and 2 were 2*. In other words, a majority of the guys who eventually turned out to be the best of the best in the conference were projects. Things are very much in transition physically for most 17 year old guys, and this seems to be especially true of the bigger kids. Heck, one of those 4* guys is Oregon's Dion Jordan and he was recruited as a WR
