It sucks that we won't be able to get him at 6. :sigh:

Man, today's just been a shitshow of bad news for me.

And there was a time I was hoping to grab him at 11. Which was dumb to begin with obviously. Im going to really hate seeing him blow up for another team. Hopefully Drummond drops and develops.

If Lillard goes to Sac at 5 then we are in great shape.

I agree....

That means Beal, Barnes or MKG have dropped to us...or even a remote chance of Robinson, I doubt it, but it could be possible...

To me it's a bit strange to be talking about drafting a PG and SG and having them BOTH start. Lillard I can see starting asuming we don't bring back any of last years PG's except Nolan, but Lamb would have to beat out Wes AND Ewill which IMO he is not good enough to do, "at least" his first year and maybe longer than that.

Any guard the team drafts had better be a starter by the end of the season, or they were a wasted pick. I don't see Lamb making it either.

Barnes may have a good workout in Sacto. Who knows. I think some of this will help people feel better if we do end up taking Lillard at 6. The midrange game was money. I agree his shot has a bit of extra motion and is a bit low, but when you shoot that kind of percentage . . .

Yeah, me too.

BART was shut down and I had a hell of a time getting to work.
Heard a rumor that 2 major acts scheduled for Saturday Genentech concert have canceled, one being Lady Gaga due to concussion. (although Genentech concert rumors are usually bs)
A's win in the 9th on the road but are overshadowed by Giants perfect game. What's the big deal? A's already have 2 perfectos.
And Blazer Caravan is mad at me.

I don't know if I agree. There are some young guys out there that may not be a wasted pick but are still a year away. If Beal is gone at 6, and our options at 11 becomes Rivers, Waiters, or Ross, (who are all freshman/sophmore) then i still think it is a good investment in our future if we grabbed one of them. I would prefer Wes as a long term back up, but Elliot Williams still has an outside chance of winning the starting position.

Bottom line is the "end of next year" is too soon to judge. I like Rivers, but I think he needs a good year under his belt.

Lillard will be 22 soon and will have to change his game from SG to PG and that's with NBA defense draped on him.

I don't see in anyway how he's a better option than a young vet FA point guard and Dion Waiters.

I have to be honest, that answer is great for a small market team like Portland

I'm so mixed on him. I love his transition and post game, and really love all the video of him draped over everyone from PGs to PFs and watching them get frustrated in not being able to do anything. But, that shot needs total reconstruction. I'm not sure I've seen one worse for a wing player.

Someone I've had my eye on as he has not really gotten much attention during this process is Quincy Miller from Baylor. He tore his ACL before his freshman year and that has some teams concerned, but I personally think if he falls to the bottom of the first round or even the second round, that POR needs to grab him.

Here is a snippet from Ford on Insider about players on the first-round bubble:
Quincy Miller, F, Baylor Bears
Considering that most GMs believe Miller would be a top-10 pick in the 2013 draft, it seems odd that he could slip entirely out of the first round. But that's looking more and more like a possibility. The talent is there, but concerns about his ACL and his position continue to haunt him. The medical reports from Chicago are starting to trickle in, and it looks like they aren't putting teams' concerns to rest.

He crapped out at the combine, but before that some people compared him to Kevin Durant lite

I don't want him, but at 6 he could be a good pick, maybe even a great pick?

I'd much rather look at a value pick like Jae Crowder (late first, early second) over Miller.

If it was second round, I'd pretty easily go Miller over Crowder. At that point, I don't care much about the injury concerns, and would rather go for a guy who was a potential top 5-10 pick next season over a smallish role player. Go big upside on Miller, with the expectation 2nd rounders usually don't amount to anything, so if he doesn't, oh well.

Sorta like what SA did with Blair.

There's no way a new GM promises the #11 pick a few days into his job. I have a feeling the Pistons or Suns are the "promise."

No. They gambled on a player with lottery skills that had no ACL's in the second round, and it has paid off for them

Ok, sorry, wasn't sure because Blair could also fit into the smallish role player with pretty limited upside description of Crowder.
But yes, exactly, if you were agreeing. Go with supreme talent and an injury concern if it is the 2nd. There's no risk involved, IMO, with 2nd round picks. Why not see if the lotto talent is lotto talented, versus grabbing...Sam Young, basically.
