Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Outside of Davis, Beal is the one that intrigues me, but only if he measures to 6'5" or taller. Of course, getting Beal would mean that the ball would need to be in his hands, and then we yet again would get to listen to the experts bemoan the boring offense while the team is winning 50 games a season.

At 6-4 he better have above average handles. If not probably just another Matthews then.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Drummond has similar size and athletic ability as a pre-injury Oden. He just needs a lot of development, very raw. As inconsistent as he was at UCONN he still a virtual lock to go #2.

I don't think he will go #2, could be wrong of course but I think it will either be T.Robinson or MKG....

and Drummond scares me, he probably will need some time\patience at minimum...high risk\reward with him and can this team afford to do that with its highest pick? I don't think they can...

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I don't watch college basketball much at all, but based on descriptions of their games (and their comparative height and weight) would Andrei Kirilenko be a good comparison for Anthony Davis?

Both tall enough for PF, but a bit too skinny, both ridiculously versatile and capable of five-by-fives...

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I say no lottery picks on white centers

hmmmm

Larue Martin
Sam Bowie
Michael Thompson
Greg Oden

v.

Bill Walton

Perhaps we shouldn't waste a pick (period) on a center! Black/White - I don't see your argument of selecting a black or white center?

Other than Martin, all of those centers you mentioned were lottery talents. Name the last white center that was. Even better the last white American center.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Btw, that Camby video and what they say about him is exactly what is being said about Davis.

The big difference is what Camby did as a junior Davis did as a freshman.

You just said that so we can't include Bogut.

Spencer Hawes is decent. Brook Lopez is half white. Joakim Noah is half white. Chris Kaman. Our very own Joel Przybilla. Raef Lafrentz had some good years. Not a lot to pick from when we are talking american fully white centers, but some very serviceable guys. I would be happy with a Spencer Hawes type center with our own pick to be honest.

Lopez is half black, half Mexican. Caman is full on caveman.

It's interesting that Draft Xpress has just moved Drummond into the top three and Thomas Robinson down to four; they are usually pretty good at predicting how the top group will be drafted. Too bad there is such a small chance that the NJ pick could end up at four.

I wouldn't put too much stock into draft positions until all the draft slots have been set. Right now DE and NBA draft.net slot guys based on talent they have seen so far. No workouts, no need. I mean if Orlando wound up at 3, Drummond probably wouldn't be their pick

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Perry Jones declares for the draft.

Drummond supposedly on the fence. (He's going pro)

A bit of a surprise, but Jared Cunningham's going pro. That must get Beavers fans all riled up.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Damnit. Mason Plumlee is returning to Duke. I would have loved to see us try to grab him in the 20's somewhere

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

werent you just saying how you hated white centers?

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

if you are talking about oden and roy, both were considered "safe" picks at the time

No, they weren't.

KP has said a few times since that they knew about Roy's knees before they drafted him. Also Oden was considered a huge risk by many medical staffs around the league. Pizza boy said it was a foolish pick for us because unlike a lot of drafts, there was a physically perfect 1A in the draft in Durant. The Dallas medical staff said his knees were a mess.
