Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Draftexpress with an updated mock:

#7 Harrison Barnes
#11 Terrence Jones

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

After watching some film, I'm warming up to Terrence Ross. He's probably the most explosive athlete of the first round shooting guards, has a great stroke from 3 complemented by a solid pull-up jumper, knows how to play off the ball and has the ability to finish around the basket off cuts and o-boards. Doesn't do much off the bounce though, and is the main reason he doesn't rack up many assists at all, but what I've seen he's a willing and solid ball mover.

He seems to be underrated right now (projected middle first rounder). He's not a perfect prospect but Beal who's projected top 5 isn't either.

Nic Batum and NJ's pick for Andre Igoudala and the 15th pick (Ross) is the idea I'm throwing around in my head right now.

Iggy is one of those players who put up great stats on mediocre teams. At best, he's a second/third option -- like LaMarcus.

I'd rather go younger than in that direction.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Baylor forward Quincy Miller told Yahoo! Sports he has decided to enter the 2012 NBA draft.

Miller, 19, now joins a growing list of college freshman in the draft that includes Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Austin Rivers, Tony Wroten, Marquis Teague and Moe Harkless. The NBA deadline for early draft entrants is Sunday.

The more the merrier!

Ross is really streaky. When he's hot, he on. But, when he's not, he keeps shooting and keeps clanking.

Easily the best perimeter defender in the league.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I disagree.

That would be Tony Allen IMO.

Like the 76ers as a whole, Iguodala cannot be fully appreciated without a raft of advanced defensive statistics. According to 82games.com, he was holding opposing small forwards to an efficiency rating of 8.8 at week's end, stunning when you consider Kobe Bryant is on the all-defensive team and was holding his counterparts at shooting guard to an efficiency rating of 12.2. "I learned from being a go-to guy what I didn't like," Iguodala says. "Coaches tell you, 'Get to the hole. Don't settle for jump shots.' So when I guard somebody, I want them to settle for jumpers—outside the paint but inside the three-point line—and then use my length to contest late." Iguodala memorizes where opponents hold the ball before they raise it up. Bryant is the toughest to strip because he cradles the ball by his hip; Lakers forward Metta World Peace might appear to be the easiest, because he puts it in front of his body, but he is trying to draw cheap fouls. "It makes no sense to me why so many good scorers can't defend," Iguodala says. "Like Lou Williams. He's one of the toughest guys to guard in the league, but he can't guard anybody. I don't get that."

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I'd like to see us go after Beal or Barnes with the NJ pick. Maybe take Marshall with our pick, or maybe even Lillard.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Yeah it might be a little calculated, but he still carried through with something that doesn't necessarily benefit him all that much ... I mean when it comes right down to it, no GM is going to weigh this into their decision to draft him or pass.

Unless he brings the GMs flowers. Me, I'd draft him if he brought me a nice $50 arrangement of pansies.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Some really great athletic plays by Jeremy Lamb in this video....

I think I like him for POR more than Beal and chances look good that he will be there at #6-#7. Put him next Batum at SF, Aldridge at PF....nice

I like Lamb's over all game as well. I would be happy with either he or Rivers along with one of the bigs.

Lamb will be there at #6-#7 because that is a giant reach for anyone to draft him before there, he will also be there at #11. No reason to use out 6-7 on him when he isn't projected at going higher then 12 in any mocks on the big sites. He could defiantly increase his stock during the interviews and combine but tell then I wouldn't waste the 6-7 on him when he will be there at #11.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I would be very happy with a Marshall and Lamb draft. Whichever the order.

You realize that where the players are projected right now is not accurate right? POR will likely have to take Lamb at #6-7 b\c in all likelyhood he will not be there at #11....He will go higher than he is currently projected, a top 10 pick

if you read the end of my post I point out that peoples draft stock changes. at the moment he isn't projected to go in the top ten and I very much doubt he will increase his stock much if at all.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Understood...although I think Lamb will be a top 10 pick...If he fel to #11 that would be great for POR...

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I'm not a fan. Every time I watched UCONN I got flashes of Marshon Brooks/Elliot Williams.

Beal is the best SG in this draft.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Beal is the best SG in this draft.

Even if this is true, it is irrelevant because he will be off the board by the time we pick, and I don't see us trading up to get him. As many have mentioned, this is a clearly tiered draft. Nobody's trading out of the top 5.

Then you go Marshall with the #7 and Henson with the #11.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I decided I don't like Henson next to Aldridge. Sullinger would be the better option at 11, assuming he is there

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I would be very content with that draft. Only time would tell, but I like both players.

Henson's ceiling is too low for that selection

It wouldn't be the worst idea for the Blazers to draft a SF in case some team is stupid enough to offer Batum $10M or more. Terrence Jones wouldn't be terrible at 11.
