THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

We've got 2 really good threads going right now about the draft, can we put them both and all future rumors, mock drafts and tweets right here? Denny put somebody on it!

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Barnes is rated pretty high now...... He just screams Marvin Williams though.

Ya he does. He isn't athletic enough to get his own shot off, so I'm not sure how he will do at the next level

......BUMP

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Hopefully some fool team takes Barnes and someone good slips to us.

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

God damn you Nate and your power!

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Remember how high teams were on Joe Alexander and he went 8th!

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

I'm a student... so that means your hard earned taxes are helping to pay for me to be on here all the time.

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

Then since I'm paying you..... clean up this board and make one draft thread!

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

^I'm sure Denny agrees with me on this!

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

It gets annoying the "HCP must start ALL official threads"

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

It would make more sense to just merge the two.

Why wouldn't I? I am the most qualified to start them. I have the most swag and credibility amongst this forrest of nerds that I'm surrounded by. I want order and that's what I'll get!

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

Who drops knowledge like the following....... Since 1990 only 3 of the teams with the worst record in the league have won the #1 pick.......

I bring it strong FAMS!

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Marvin Williams wasn't even a starter. Didn't show much in the way of perimeter skills. He was far from the best player on his team. One of the most overrated prospects I can remember. He isn't even that great of an athlete, which seems to be where all the hype came from.

Barnes actually produced. He can score, rebounded his position alright, and he shows some competitiveness out there which leads you to believe he'll play defense and be a good team player. Reportedly he has really good handles for his size but suffered from lack of spacing and teams packing the paint as they so often do in college. I'm not a huge fan of his but I wouldn't put him in Marvin Williams' category.

Joe Alexander was insanely overrated but I actually understood why people thought he was good. He had a great vertical leap and was very successful with his bread and butter turnaround fadeaway out of the post, which he really only shot from the left baseline. It looked cool when it went in or when he was able to get a flashy dunk. Unfortunately for him, he had no other perimeter skills to speak of at all. No other post moves. He didn't even rebound well considering his physical advantages. The excellent vertical leap was legit, but all his other athletic numbers were poor by SF standards and he was way too small and way to shitty of a rebounder to play the 4 in the NBA. NBA SFs who were just as big and could jump just as high could easily takeaway that turnaround J from 16 feet, after that he had dick and no other redeeming qualities about his game (rebounding, defense, passing, etc.).

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

And Montejiunas (sp?) has insane skill on offense. Kind of a Bargnani type who appears to be an unbelievably bad rebounder and defender for his size but man he can do it all on the other end. Hes really fugging tall and pretty athletic too, although still a string bean.

I remember watching tape on that guy last year. He was unlike any player I've ever seen. His style is crazy.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

At this point the backlash against Barnes is more insane than the original hype. If he turned out to be the new Paul Pierce, that might be nice.

What's with the R-W-B Nyets ball? Are they becoming an ABA team?

I'd take him at #11 if he dropped that far. (Pierce dropped to 10 didn't he?)

That's a pretty good comparison, IMO. Or a younger version of Evan Turner, but with a higher ceiling.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I'd offer the #11 to HOU for the rights to Donatas Motiejunas -- he has had a Joel Freeland-esque rapid development this year. Measuring nearly 7'2" w/shoes, he's an intriguing prospect. Went #20 last year but with his development he would be a lock for a lotto pick had he pulled out of last years draft.

No. He's a no-defense headcase.

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 NBA DRAFT THREAD............

Just hoping this is what they use. HCP loves the Old School.
