Build: He’s only 6’9″, which might be just under the ideal height for an NBA power forward, but there are plenty of players that size in the league who can make up for that size and have success much like Jared will. With his big 280 lb. build, he uses his weight and strength well to ‘bang’ and position himself deep in the paint, also using his 7’2″ wingspan to allow him to play bigger than he really is. One leg is an inch longer than the other, noticeable as he limps up and down the floor, which could potentially leading to lingering injury issues in his career down the road. That body is his biggest asset and allows him to throw his weight around in the paint.
I agree, it sure appears that at this early date POR may have a chance to choose either Robinson and Drummond....
I just wonder, why would SAC take Robinson if they already have Cousins? Wouldn't it make more sense to take Drummond and move\keep Cousins at PF?
Drummond has the chance to be better -- his quickness and his Oden-like size is rare. But will he ever 'get it'?
Chad Ford (1:18 PM)
Olshey spent a lot of time on the high school circuit and really values young players who were highly ranked coming out of high school. Look at their picks, DeAndre Jordan, Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Bledsoe, etc. He also loved OJ Mayo and worked hard to get him. So ... if they can't move up (I could see Beal) as a target, he won't be afraid at all to go after a guy like Andre Drummond or Perry Jones.
This draft is pretty huge when you consider the talent pool that will be available next year and possibly 2014.
According to Ford, the scouts he has talked to say that next years draft is very week and 2014 isn't shaping up to be much better.
Which means we should really try to secure another pick.
I think the odds are lower that he won't versus will ... but at six you might as well swing for the fences (assuming T-Rob or Beal are not there when they pick).
With the lack of ANY young talent on this roster you can't trade these picks for a late-20's (Lowry) vet or the future is going to be pretty damn bleak.
Per Twitter...
The Hornets have their #10 pick on the block but you have to take back either Ariza or Okafor.
That's a tough pill to swallow.
Okafor wouldn't be too bad if we could get them to take Nolan Smith and Shawne Williams off our hands. Sure, he'd eat up some space but we'd get another lotto pick and a decent center for the next few years.
I would consider it for Okafor, he is grossly overpaid ($13.5\$14.5 mil) but only for 2 more years and he fills a position of need....
Problem is he would eat up all your cap space to go and get a PG in FA, even if you snent N.Smith and S.Williams back.....
Ariza might be a better bet at $7mil, if you could send back Williams and or Smith you would still have $8-9mil to sign a FA....
Yeah but if you can get Ariza (owed around $7mil for 2 more seasons), get a FA PG like Dragic or G.Hill, and have #6, #10 & #11 in this draft...I think that would be a good use of cap space...Ariza could play some SF, move Batum to SG....
Ariza is a harder pill to swallow for me because he's a dirty piece of shit.
Trade up (#6/#11)
#2: MKG
#10: Waiters
Nice.

Lillard didn't play well against the better teams he faced (BYU, CLl, ASU, UNLV) and he is going to face far better talent than he did facing those teams....I think POR could do better by going the FA route to address PG...
