We need to keep in mind these mocks are just random opinions......... what I have overheard over the past few years from people is that DraftExpress and Chad Ford's opinions are held the highest.

LOL what? Chad Ford should never be mentioned in the same breath as draft Express

*High basketball IQ
*Great shooting mechanics
*Intangibles
*Solid athletic ability, not great.

Many overlook his skillset and focus on his lateral quickness and leaping ability. I'd much rather have a smart/cerebral player than an athletic freak with shit for brains. This is huge mistake GM's often make.

His leaping ability and quickness are only marginal, which forces him into tough and contested drives and makes it hard for him to get by people
-NBAdraft.net on James Harden pre-draft.

Average athleticism
- Average size
- Ability to shoot off the dribble
Draftexpress on James Harden pre-draft.

McCants wasn't much of a shooter. I think Beal is more in the Eric Gordon/James Harden type of player.

Shot over 40% from 3 every year in college. Beal shot 34% last season from deep. He's the better shooter because of what he did in HS?

I'm guessing McCants was pretty open on that UNC. Beal is the focus of defense at Florida.

I am intrigued by Beal, just tired of the undersized Randy Foye sized SGs. We need 6'6" +

I'm not convinced Batum wouldn't do well as our 6'6"+ SG in a radically non-Nate system. Nate's offense is brutal on SG's, relying on them to basically "Be Brandon Roy". In a different, more motion-based system, the strengths of Nic's game might translate into the SG position better.

...just a thought.

PG Marshall
SG Batum
SF Barnes
PF Hickson
C LA

Not bad.......

Sign Dragic and Marshall could be a pretty good bench player.

Not a big fan of signing Dragic and drafting Marshall. We're going to have to offer up a pretty big deal to Dragic to get him here. It sounds like he may get 4-5 years. So that makes drafting Marshall a bit redundant. I don't want to pay big for Dragic, and sit Marshall behind him for 4-5 years.

I'd rather pay big to sign Nash for 2 years, and he can teach Marshall.

Not that good, either.

You and McCants have something in common - shit for brains, son!

(Only kidding - simmer down!)

Not good? We aren't a good team! Did you forget this? We just lost our 2 best players........ remember? This 5 isn't that bad considering how bad of a team had this past season. Do you really think we are going to put out 5 quality players next season?

As big of a homer as you can be.... I figured you'd be a little more optimistic.

If that's the best starting-5 you think we can do, I would have to believe we are absolutely screwed.

PG: FA (Dragic, Lin)
SG: Beal
SF: Batum
PF: Aldridge
C: TBD

Hickson is IMO a third big on a playoff team.

Beal is a much better complement to Batum than Barnes.

Who would our C be? I agree on Hickson. A 3-man rotation at the 4 & 5 with LA, Hickson, and someone else, plus Joel as a 4th man would be decent. If we could get a solid PF in the draft, we could slide LA to C (yes, I know he's weak, but there are few teams that really have anyone at C that would obliterate LA - plus, there's solid help on the bench if we keep Hickson and Joel).

I'm cool with trying to sign a PG. I think if you're going to go after guys like Lin or Dragic, you don't go after Marshall - it'd be a bit redundant.

I think Freeland could be that guy.

He has legit size and an overall inside/outside game to complement LaMarcus.

But my pipedream is still DeMarcus Cousins! The most gifted bigman low-post scorer in the game.

We just lost arguably our 2 best players 9 months ago..... WE ARE SCREWED!

DC would be rad. But it ain't happening.

Still hoping Freeland comes over. That may not be a bad rotation for the 4/5. LA-Hickson-Joel-Joel.

It sucks because a huge part of what we can do is all tied to the draft lottery, and I'm tired of waiting to find out where we'll be picking.

RE: Barnes, we already tried the Martell Webster experiment. Have to learn from our mistakes.
