2013 FOOTBALL Commits and Recruiting News

If he keeps his grades up and gets enough credits, he would be apart of the 2013 class. There has been no indication that he has not been doing that and it seems like all should be in line for him to make a transfer to us if possible.

He would be a bit old would he? He graduated in 08, and he was 18. So he would be 24 when he comes to Oregon I think. And how many years of eligibilty would he have?

I think two years.

I still think the idea is to try and get him in school this fall.

Found this from Steve Summers in August 2011. Apparently he'll get his associate degree in May. Could be one last sleeper for the 2012 class, if that's the case. If he makes it into UO this fall, he'll have 3 years of eligibility, because he's only played one year of JC ball.

He was an Army All-American.

Hopkins is answering questions about the 2013 recruits. Is there any questions you guys wanna know?

I asked him this.

What is Oregon's interest level in OT Chris Fox? And if we offer where do we stand with him?

Also, a lot of people want bigger corners. Have you talked to Priest Willis? And does he have any interest?

This was his answer.
I think Fox will be one of the most recruited OL in this class. HE has some interest in Oregon, but not "Dream school" caliber.

Priest Willis is a beast. I think he's favoring USC early, but they do have sincere interest in Oregon. Nebraska just offered last night.

Another question he answered that was not VIP.

Everyone seems encouraged about where we stand with Eddie V. and Hutchings. I know its early but is the optimism realistic? Also besides Tyner who are the local kids that are a "must get"?

Oregon is right in the hunt for both Vanderdoes and Hutchings, but I don't consider either an Oregon lock by any means.

Besides Tyner, I think Evan Voeller and Doug Brenner might be a pair of the top targets for Oregon from the home state.

Please ask him about Rolando Jefferson, and if he knows anything about his status.

I wonder what that was compared to last year.

Pretty sweet they've already verballed just as many 5 star recruits as the 2012 class.

Apparently some guy on Scout.com named Jake Worthen is saying Thomas Tyner is now leaning toward UW?

Any validation on that one? Da_O, can you check at 24/7 on that rumor?

Have not heard that one bit. JHop never answered that question about Rolando btw. Next time he does a questionnaire, I'll ask him sooner. I had to go to work so I don't think he ever saw my question as it was probably a bit late.

I relayed this same quote last fall in the 2012 thread, but now we have a rating to go with the name. When asked who was his #1, 2013 *4 Texas DT Kerrick Huggins said...

"Oregon - I'm a Duck fan," he said. "I love the colors and my man Anthony Wallace is up there. He and I have played together for a while and I want to keep it up."

today he committed to Texas A&M. I'm still interested...

He would be perfect for our offense. If we win the Natty/Rose Bowl, he may feel inclined to join us.

Texas extended an offer to some Oregon targets today including Kyle Hicks and Dontre Wilson.

Wilson had this quote per Max Olson (from ESPN longhorn network)

"Texas offered me and have moved up quite a bit.. but Oregon is still my dream offense."

that would be AMAZING re: Swoopes, but I'm not holding my breath that he leaves state lol.

The lightning to Tyner and Carson's Thunder maybe? Although Tyner offers a whole lot of Lightning to go with his Thunder :)

Obviously Swoopes is athletically gifted. He's built like Vince Young or Terrelle Pryor with that 6'4" 220 pound frame. I'm just not sold on how well of a passer he is. His motion looks odd in the video (but it's hard to see). Not only that but I was looking at his stats for his Junior year and he only passed for 1394 yards, but rushed for 2267. Like Kelly has said we want quarterbacks who can run, not athletes that can pass sometimes ala Masoli.

I know he'd be a great get but just saying. I like J.T. Barrett more.

Also look out for Kenny Hill, Troy Williams, Cooper Bateman, and Khari McGee.

Barret and Swoops look great. I'm happy if we get either one, although Barret looks like a better passer. That's not to say that Swoops can't improve as one though

*4 California WR Steven Mitchell reportedly told rivals AJ Jacobson recently that the Ducks are his leader

"Dont you realize that Oregon runs it 90% of the time!? Why would you go there as a good WR?!?!" - Lane Kiffin

Did Kiffin really say that? I need a source for that.

lol I have no idea if he actually said those things sorry. I was being facetious.
