speculating... he wants to play in a spread offense

Yeah, it just might worry me in the sense that Wilson said if not for Distance he would have already comitted to Oregon. Before one was about home, other was about "dream offense" Now its about "Dream Offense" for both. I'm probably just being a negative Nancy lol

Could also be OK State.... It would be hard to get a 5 or 4 star RB to come here knowing that the Mamba will be Jr. and Tyner is coming in the fall! Tough comp!

nope its Ohio State per a recent article, and his rivals profile.

Rivals Profile

but I do agree about the tough competition, but I envision a 170lb true freshman RB not named Deanthony would redshirt, putting a year in between him and Tyner, and Mamba would be a SR at the earliest (if he stays) when Wilson touches the field. IMO

Kelly has been at Oregon 5 seasons thus far, and all 5 years the Ducks have led the Pac 10/12 in rushing yards. Thats the sort of starring role that attracts top talent. Besides Wilson, Rivals top 250 backs with a Duck offer who I've read saying positive things about UO's chances include Justin Davis, Khalfani Muhammad, Derrick Green & Ryan Green

Anybody know anything about this Vita Vea kid?

no film on him, but this rivals top 250 DE/DT recently told a DSA reporter "If they offered, yeah, I would probably commit"

guessing he might have grade issues as it seems odd that a top rated kid has so few offers

Recent reports suggested Ohio State had moved ahead of Texas and have made this a battle of Buckeyes and Ducks. His father, Don Wilson, spent some time clearing the air on the misunderstanding.

"That was taken out of context or misunderstood," Wilson said. "Tre (Dontre) was talking about the offenses in terms of how they fit him. Most can see that Oregon and Ohio State are a little bit ahead in terms of Texas. But at the end of the day, Tre hasn't even visited Ohio State. They have a ton of ground to make up on Oregon and Texas."

Tomorrow is the state track championships. The family has shifted focus to track and has football on the back burner for now.

"We aren't talking about football right now as much as people probably think," he said. "Tomorrow is a big day and we take track very seriously, probably more serious than a lot of other people do."

The nation's No. 107 ranked player will compete in the 4 X 100 and 4 X 200.

The current plan is for the 5-foot-10, 175-pound four-star speedster to announce his college decision on May 25. Right now that hasn't changed but it could if a decision is made to visit Ohio State.

"Like I said before, Tre hasn't even visited Ohio State, he's not going to commit to a school he's never seen. Urban Meyer is coming really hard but they still have a lot of ground to make up. We will talk about it as a family after track is over this weekend. Right now I think he's pretty likely to go ahead and make his commitment as planned."

His father suggested the family will spend ample time evaluating each schools academics, the style of offense and depth chart of each program.

here's Dontre's quote from rivals on 5/9..."It's just Oregon and Ohio State, that's my top two," said Wilson. "I'm not looking at any other schools right now, just those two."

I'm guessing dad wanted to slow play things a bit more, but it seems pretty clear where Dontre's head is at

That story I posted was from yesterday. His father said his quote was taken out of context. I'm fairly confident that Ohio State is not an issue.

well he's already listed as 175 lbs, and he's 4 months removed from the start of his Sr year of HS. At UO, tOSU & UT a redshirt year is a strong possibility, but so is him coming in at 185 lbs.

yes I'm aware that dad may feel different. My quote was from the day before from the son who will be making the decision. It would be near impossible to come up with a scenario where the quote I relayed could be taken out of context. Dontre has also made public comments about how the Longhorns already have a player like him (D.J. Monroe) who doesn't see the ball much.

Ohio State? Here's DW's 5/9 rivals quote on them... "Coach Urban Meyer is there and they run the same offense that he ran at Florida," Wilson said. "That offense put a lot of players in the NFL so he's going to continue to have that kind of success at Ohio State." He goes on to say..."I would play running back for them. I am hoping to play in a spread offense. I'm going to try and visit (before making a decision) but I don't know if I will for sure."

I know I've a green homer streak, but the things he lists as important UO has in spades or is at least comparable at (RB depth chart) to the other two. Things look good

Oregon just offered a 6'5 LB from Florida named Isaac McDonald. McDonald is already a Clemson commit, but that is said to be soft & he's really excited about the Duck offer

and today Wilson walks the top two comment back... (per rivals) "There was talk that I said Texas wasn't in the running. Texas is still in the running. Everything is still the same. I still have my same top five - Oregon, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas," Wilson said. "They're still all in consideration."

That's a big kid! I'm happy that the Ducks are now getting into Florida for some defensive players, that is a speed state!!

This weekend there was news reported that Dontre Wilson has pushed back his decision date to visit Ohio State. As we reported last week Ohio State is in the picture but is still behind front-runners Oregon and Texas to land the four-star speedster.

247Sports caught up with the nation's No. 107 ranked player father to get the latest details regarding his recruitment.

"No, that's not the case," Don Wilson said regarding the pushed back decision date. "We haven't had the chance to sit down as a family and discuss everything yet. As I told you last week, a visit to Ohio State is still being considered but no plans have been made regarding that. It's still the same, our tentative plan is to announce on May 25, but we will talk this week to discuss a potential visit to Ohio State."

Has the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Wilson reached a decision?

"Right now I think he knows where he wants to go," he said. "I know he said something previously about already committing to Oregon if not for the distance, but this is a business decision. It's still an Oregon-Texas battle with Ohio State lurking along with Oklahoma State hanging in there. But once again as I said last week this is Oregon and Texas being ahead of the others."

The family plans to call coaches from each program this week and spend time talking about his recruitment. His father said they will only be making one commitment.

"If he decides to go ahead and announce on the 25th, that will be it. Right now we need to discuss if he has enough interest in Ohio State. Right now I think the media is over-blowing Ohio State and their involvement with Tre (Dontre). Of course he's interested, but last we talked I think he still had the same idea where he wants to go to school. He hasn't even visited Ohio State yet. We aren't telling him he can't visit, we'll go if he really wants to, but I think Tre is really sold on making a decision. But if he wants to go, we'll set it up and we'll go. I want him to be 100-percent certain no matter what he decides to do."

DeSoto just finished winning the state championship in track this past weekend. Wilson was a vital part of the team's success and it's well noted the family takes track very seriously.

"We got that ring, that's big for us," he said. "They ran a laser-timed 40.09 4x100 relay. That's one of the fastest times in the country, ever, at any level. It's great to get that ring and be able to put track behind us. Now we can focus on this recruiting thing and decided what's best for Tre."

Eddie V states that he'll be taking official visits to Oregon, Penn State & Nebraska in the fall... no dates set

Texas DE Torrodney Prevot sets up his first Offical Visit in October for the Fusky game. He's got a pretty amazing list of offers

Hawaiin DT Scott Pagano has dropped Oregon... No word as to why, oh well

STOMP

Well that blows.

Hopefully he can give us a reason. Didn't he sign a LOI though?

I'm starting to wonder if we are just expecting players to come to us now? If you look at USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Bama, LSU they are all out there recruiting hard to a point of being fucking annoying. I don't think we should get to their desperate begging level, but I do think we might want to make players feel a bit more sought after. Thoughts?

Oregon certainly does things differently then other programs both on and off the field. Hard to argue with the results though as any Duck fan who has followed the program for a while knows things have never been better for us. This time last year we had two commits (Dunmore and Baylis)... February 2013 is a long way off and you're kidding yourself if you think Duck coaches aren't out recruiting hard

STOMP

Yeah, we start slow but come fall/winter we're out recruiting hard. Besides, young men's minds change often.

Well things that concern me, Hutchings who was so excited about Oregon and Coach Al is now being said to be a shoe in for USC, and Vanderdoes is said to be very interested in Nebraska now...... These two players with AA, Bair and Buckner could anchor our defense for the next 4 years. Both Vanderdoes and Hutchings seemed our to loose but it seems things have changed. Why? If USC lands Hutchings and Su Cravens they'll have 6 of the top 20 players in the US for 2013 and that's before June! Chips comments about the Pros have certainly not helped while everyone knows Lamo Kiffen has no where else to go because he's burned every fucking bridge left that doesn't lead to the condoms. This is why I'm????? recruiting.

The Ducks are the Fast, Sleek, Kick Ass program with killer uniforms that everyone across the country now knows about backed by Nike! So why wouldn't ya want to come here? I'd say Chip's big mouth on the pros has made many feel he's just waiting for the right offer and that shakes top recruits confidence on being a Duck! Hell Tyner even said, he'd have to rethink his commit if Chip left!

Further I think other coaches are telling recruits " Hey Oregon is a great school but the coach is actively looking for another gig in the pros!" Saban, Kiffen, Miles, Spurrier, Meyer's are going nowhere and recruits know it.

If I'm a kid that honestly is that focused on coaching prestige, I'd be more concerned if the coach isnt a hot commodity.

omg :MARIS61: omg :MARIS61: omg :MARIS61: omg

If you'd followed recruiting for more then a year you'd be well aware that USC always has a top 5 class... always. Hot weather, tradition, glitz galore, a solid school surrounded by one of the best recruiting hotbeds in the country... they're going to continue to pull no matter what. Wetting ones pants over whats expected is a reason to wear Depends. Letting everyone know you've wet your pants again over whats expected allows everyone else a laugh... and for that we're all grateful

I've provided you many examples of why the opinions of the recruiting sites should be taken with a grain of salt, but you continue to act like their Jr year best guesses are akin to Moses with the tablets letting us know whats what. I'm happy to have a coaching staff that doesn't pay attention to early best guesses by the sites and instead does it's own research to court & land lesser known true studs like Michael Clay, Kiko, Wade Keliikapi, Jake Fisher, Marcus Mariota, Terrance Mitchell, etc etc etc

The Ducks are the Fast, Sleek, Kick Ass program with killer uniforms that everyone across the country now knows about backed by Nike! So why wouldn't ya want to come here?

Does this really need to be pointed out? Eugene isn't for everyone. It's a small college town without much diversity. Most recruits come from urban environments and like to stay somewhat close to home where friends and family can come to their games. The school itself isn't top shelf, doesn't offer every major, and it rains and rains and rains

I'd say Chip's big mouth on the pros has made many feel he's just waiting for the right offer and that shakes top recruits confidence on being a Duck! Hell Tyner even said, he'd have to rethink his commit if Chip left!

of course he would rethink things if the coach left, what 17 year old with options and a pulse wouldn't? That said, Oregon has had it's current coaching staff together longer then any D1 program in the country. Bitching about the stability of Oregon's coaching staff is laughable... especially since thats a reason many commits site as a factor as why they decided to become a Duck.

Further I think other coaches are telling recruits " Hey Oregon is a great school but the coach is actively looking for another gig in the pros!" Saban, Kiffen, Miles, Spurrier, Meyer's are going nowhere and recruits know it.

good grief... thanks again
