2013 FOOTBALL Commits and Recruiting News (2 Viewers)

What's the news on Zach Cunningham? This kid looks like Dion Jordan!

Has interest wants to visit, but still distance is a factor. Our staff is wonky as it is. With the Walker commit we have 1 maybe 2 more spots for LB.

With all that interest from 4 star LB's I have to hope they saw a powerhouse in walker.

Looks like someone did some bitching on 247 and got Walker moved up from 150th ranked OLB to the 120th or so ranked OLB. 79 to and 82 overall.

Tweet today from Leon McQuay's dad~

Chip Kelly just left home visit a intresting man he is . Just handled my mom and wife's questions like a pro 2 hours worth !

That a good thing or a bad thing?

first of all it was surprising to find out that Leon's Dad is yoda... pretty cool for LMc lll. It strikes me that Max Redfield relayed Oregon told him they were full at his spot (Safety/WR) while apparently they're still very much after McQuay. I don't know how Chip being across the country in a top rated recruit's home could be a bad thing... sounds like the family was charmed while having their concerns answered

...so whats the chances that McQuay is the only recruit he's checking in on in Florida?

If Chips in Florida you know he's sitting down with big evil Bostwick! Bama now has Bostwick on their radar too, not shocking! Give me those two players and a LB and I'm happy! We are loaded on offense, just bring the D!!

I've got to wonder what turned Oregon off on Redfield?! Something big enough where they told him to DUCK OFF! You don't hand a 5 star to ND or USC for that matter if you have a chance unless his personality sucked!

clearly MR is physically talented enough to warrant Duck interest as he's pretty unanimously thought of as an elite prospect. They are currently recruiting kids who are verbally committed elsewhere, so his potential status as a heavy lean one way or another wouldn't factor in if everything else was a go. Unless grades/qualifying turns out to be the issue, that seems only to leave something in his personal makeup (prima donna? work ethic? etc..) being a deal breaker. Thats a little harsh to say publicly about a 17 year old, so they're leaking it out that it was the heavy lean to ND thing.

I'll mention again Oregon's future at Safety is pretty secure already as they've 5 solid prospects combined in this 2013 and the previous class. They're still after a few more guys at Safety/WR who obviously they think highly of. Rumors are they're feeling so secure there that they tried to convince 4* WR Devon Allen to accept a track scholarship and walk on to the Football team.

You can't do that in terms of scholarship. If a player is a multi-sport athlete and football is one of them, they have to use a football scholarship. The only other option is to have Allen pay his own way, but you can't hide football players on other scholarships. That is an NCAA rule.

Bostwick's dad says UO not in final 3 and that he's a near lock to play at Miami with his cousin

the meltdown should be fun.

Sina to Cal... so Another DL target gone.

So unless we have some secret DL target, Hooper is the only one left. And no real DT/NT that I thought we would need.

define need... Oregon loses only Isaac Remington from their interior D-Line this year and Stetzon Bair is Redshirting. Not including the Drop End spot that Jordan currently mans and barring unforeseen attrition, they've 9 solid guys for the 3 other spots (Hart, AA, Buckner, Keliikipi, Heimuli, Balducci, Ebert, Bair, Kamp). I would love to see them add another big body this cycle to Redshirt and be better prepared to replace the bolded Seniors to be.

To me anyway, their quality depth/lack of early PT is probably factoring heavily as to why kids have been committing elsewhere. That doesn't look like it will be the case in the next cycle.

Why didn't you say so :V I wouldn't have complained that much.

~~

Well you can spin it any way you want but outside of Tyner every 5* talent that Oregon has gone after has gone somewhere else and more than not to our rivals at USC. That's a fact, and it's clearly shitty lazy come to us recruiting that is killing the talent pool with this class. If you want to play with the big dogs and win, you better recruit top talent!!! IF you have a top five team for the last four years, that can't get a top five recruiting class with as much as Oregon has to offer you better get new people to recruit and sell your program!!! This isn't rocket science! The recruiters at Oregon are tragic!!!! Outside of a local kid "Tyner" they've had their asses kicked on every position on the field to some other team this entire recruiting cycle. This while being one OT field goal away from playing the Irish for the national title our second in 4 years and 4th straight BCS Bowl!!

So posters like Stomp will tell you that we are so deep that top recruits see a log jam, but they're signing at programs like USC, Bama, LSU, Georgia, FSU and Miami where talent pools are already massively overflowing?!? What? Not to mention guys like AA, Buckner, Marshall, Addison, DAT, Colt all saw meaningful minutes their freshman years here.

We need LB's, a paint stealing SS, we need a DE that can really put pressure on a QB and we need some back up secondary players in a hurry for injury purposes.

For Bostwick's dad to say he's going to a program that will be on probation for years and not the Ducks when we were in his top two merely 10 days ago is unreal!

Think about the Ducks without DAT and Colt for the last two years? Recruiting matters!

The Ducks are the 48th -55th "BEST" recruiting class depending on the recruiting site you pick. Teams like Kansas, UVA, Tennesse, Baylor,Northwestern, Rutgers, Pitt to name a few are ranked much higher. Now before Stomp tells ya how to crunch the #'s and read it a certain way, realize recruits read the same boards we do and Oregon is getting out recruited by North Carolina and Utah in their eyes. It should also be noted that outside of Stanford who had a monster recruiting class last year, no other top 10 team in the nation is even within 20 classes of how poorly we are doing with recruiting this year. This should make you wonder how effective our recruiters are!

I'm gonna steal this post I read from a DT user because he did the math and DAMMIT this is getting annoying to have to explain over and over and over and ∞

Too listen to many of you on this board you would think the Ducks were flaming out, big time.

Not so!

To date Oregon has made 72 offers and have 11 commits (15.3%). Last year the Ducks extended 98 offers and had a signing class of 21 (21.4%, many not until January).

By comparison the number of offers and commits extended by other programs:
Offers Commits Ratio
Notre Dame - 176 22 12.5%
UCLA - 150 19 12.7%
Bama - 132 19 14.4%
LSU - 110 23 20.9%
Washington - 127 20 15.7%
USC - 99 16 16.2%
Oklahoma - 166 15 9.0%
Ohio State - 127 19 15.0%

Oregon is taking a smaller class, thereby extending fewer offers, being much more selective and has approximately seven weeks until LOI signing day to secure their class.

The commits to date are as talented or more so than any other class. The success rate in securing commitments from those offered to date is above most of those above, and at the end of the day will be above all those above with the exception of possibly LSU.

So please get a grip and at least act like this isn't your first rodeo

We've lost Redmond to UCLA almost lost Tyner to who knows who, and we've not secured a DT, LB's or O lineman, outside of Evan Voeller that Vanderdoes manhandled at the Nike camp!

The best recruits are now committed and we really have not one on the radar with more than 4*'s behind them to go after, so this is a pretty lame rodeo Oregon is hosting, wouldn't you agree? Please show any duck fan where this selective process is being used to date? Cause the "TOP RECRUITS" are selecting elsewhere!

If you've got 3-4 five* recruits non of us have heard about Wheels, Stomp and so forth, let us all know, we'd love to hear about them. Doesn't have to be a huge class right just selective? Otherwise this class in the positions we NEED to fill has not produced to the level this program has achieved on the field. There is no other way to look at it!

This is not a freak out, rather an honest opinion that every recruiting site agrees with. Oregon has underachieved in recruiting this year HUGE! Infact I'll go out on a limb and say Oregon will finish will the worst recruiting class of anyone in the top 20!

If Monte Kiffin was our recruiter we'd have Vanderdoes, Redfield, Hutchings, Biggelow to go with Tyner and Wilson that Gary brought in.... now that's a class Oregon should have had.

All I'm saying is Oregon needs to take a different approach if the goal here is to win national championships because at "that level" as we now know, talent really matters!

not sure what this has to do with what recruits we should be going after :dunno:

You got links to back that up? Or should I file this under just ranting?

*****Leon Mcquay was just visited by Chip (3000 miles away, what a lazy ass Chip is) Robert Nkifdjklsjeri wants to visit. 5* Derrick Green still has interest in Oregon. That’s three 5* players right there*****

Not sure, you, me, Stomp, Zalsa, nor anyone are invited. We can only speculate how cool it is inside said rodeo.

Can you elaborate on this question? I’m reading it as you are asking me to show you their recruiting “playbook” and a request like that would be laughable, so I’ll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt, and chalk it up to me being a dipwit and not comprehending the question.

***** Please refer to answer in my response #2 for players names ******

We need DL and LB’s according to you.. we took around 7 DL last class alone. And as has been noted multiple x multiple times on here, barring unforeseen attrition, we lose 2 of our DL. LB’s also has the likes of Bafaro Redshirting, and one of the Robinson twins is rumored to be coming in as a LB.

There is no other way to look at it!
See above

This is not a freak out, rather an honest opinion that every recruiting site agrees with.
More linkage please? Following recruiting would be a TON easier for me if I could just get final recruiting rankings from those sites… you know… before the recruiting period ends.

if Monte Kiffin was our recruiter/D Coordinator then we would have a very porous defense, and would have already lost Redfield, and have Vanderdoes want to visit the likes of LSU, and Notre Dame, oh and a D-Coordinator that would be basically pushed out the door because he was so bad.

All I'm saying is Oregon needs to take a different approach if the goal here is to win national championships because at "that level" as we now know, talent really matters!
yep that Talent laden SEC and teams like Bama that got run all over by Cam Newton and Auburn in our National Title year.. continued to do everything they wanted to against us youre right. Bama’s overall Talent CLEARLY showed the gap there is between them and us against Auburn ;)

After Passing on both Redfield and Conley I really hope we get McQuay. I like our odds, but still not likely.

But he really is the highest ranked recruit left we have targeted unless someone committed does an unexpected flip.

yet their most important recruit the last couple cycles was an unheralded 3* who's only other offer was from University of Memphis. The act like this isn't your first rodeo line is so spot on...

anyways, thanks for providing yet another discombobulated emotional meltdown for everyone to enjoy. Fire Chip, he's the problem... got it!

Mariota also had an offer from UDub.
