Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

would have and will have aren't the same thing.

If Oden stays healthy he will be better then Birdman to the heat. Thats a big IF though.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

If Oden ever stayed healthy for a 5 year stint he might end up being the best big man in the NBA. I realize he's been hurt but talent and size is still there. With the lack of good big men in the NBA he would average at least 15 and 10 with 2 blocks. Obviously a long shot that he stays healthy but you never know. I'm probably an idiot but I'd sign him to another 2 year contract.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Thing with Oden is, he hasn't shown he can stay healthy. And at best, it will have been just about 4 WHOLE years since he last stepped on an NBA court in a competitive fashion.

And he struggled after taking a year off due to the MF. And now, with 2 WHOLE other MF's done....he's not going to be anything worth squat this year, if ever.

It's Brandon Roy all over again.

Everyone struggled after MF surgery, especially big men.

Its not the same as Roy. You can look at both with checkered injury histories and say they are the same until you look at why they had problems. Oden has had freak injuries which lead you to believe that he will have another one but its not a certainty he will. Roy had deteriorating knees that were operated on again and again and again and labeled as a recurring issue. With Roy you can look at his knees and say they will be injured again because of the recurring issue but Oden doesn't have a big recurring issue.
Now i'm not saying because Oden doesn't have a recurring issue he won't ever be injured again or he is even in shape to play again but I don't look at his history and just assume he will have another big injury like I did with Roys. If Oden's in great shape I think he will stay relatively injury free on his next team and play relatively well. He isn't going to put up superstar numbers but I think his first year back he could play 70 games and avg 8/10/2 in 25-30m. If he isn't in great shape then he will be another Eddy Curry.

same as Roy in the sense of he's done.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Wow...

That's actually the first time his name has been mentioned in a possible deal.

Connecting the dots -- "draft day deal" means the #1 pick IMO.

Sam Amico mentioned last week that the Cavs were working on something major.

Hmm...

Maybe thats why Cavs want the #13 pick. 1/13/TT for LMA?. I wouldn't do it but I can see it happening.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Maybe the interest in Len is very real.

He's been a projected top 5 pick all summer and the team quietly brought him in the day before the Zeller workout.

It was very hush hush which is always fun to debate on why it was so unpublicized. Len seems like he is going to be one hell of a player, loving everything i'v read about him and he played on that hurt foot almost a month before he the season ended and the let him get an MRI. Still wouldn't trade LMA for a deal based around him.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I'd consider trading LMA for 1,13, 19, and Thompson. If trade happened we'd also be in line for lottery pick next year. Which is suppose suppose to be loaded. We aren't going any where with LMA so I'd do the deal

The #19 would be used to land the #13.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

if you could package 10 and 13 for 4, and go Oladipo and Len

Lillard/Oladipo/Batum/Thompson/Len

Still think nothing happens with LMA. Would be very shocked.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

ugh. This is not the draft to trade LA for a pick. I hate these ideas.

Add next year's lotto pick and whatever cap space that would leave us with this year and next and we might be off to the races. I'd be tempted to roll those dice.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Oladipo is not a #1..... that's just ridiculous. I like the kid, but not at #1.

I will say I don't like the idea of dealing LMA, and don't particularly care for the deal I mentioned. Was just throwing it out a a rebuild option. However, if you were to want to target those two players, I think there's a stronger possibility of Oladipo getting picked at 2 than Len. So if you wanted to get them both, I think you'd need to go Oladipo 1, Len 4, instead of Len 1, and then hoping Oladipo is there at 4.

But again, still not a big fan of the deal. Don't like dealing LMA at this time. If we WERE to, however, being able to get send him and 10 for 1, 4, TT is slightly closer for me.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

When Chris Bosh constantly gets hurt it makes me wish we had LMA. It is a close call, I wouldn't be dealing LA for just anyone though.

I wonder--if we think that LMA is worth more than 1/19/TT, do the Heat think Bosh would be worth that same package? Or would the Cavs reject any deal with the Heat out of hand because their ultimate goal is to try to entice Lebron to come back?

Yeah I think Cleveland rejects the deal for multiple reasons. First Bosh has openly said he hates Cleveland, his injuries the last two post-seasons are disturbing and this is coming from someone who likes his game, and Cleveland needs young players not someone about to turn 30.

Been hearing this one more and more lately: Rising sense out there that Jazz might simply let big man Al Jefferson walk in free agency

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

If the Blazers could get a decent center next to LaMarcus and fill out their bench with actual NBA players, an argument can be made to keep him as well. Compare the Spurs top four players to the Blazers top four players, and I can see how folks could argue we aren't that far away.

Grandpa Duncan/Prime LaMarcus
Aging Parker/Young Lillard
K. Leonard/N. Batum
D. Green/W. Matthews

The Spurs also don't have much of a center, and their bench is crap.

Of course, they have Pop and a two decade old culture and established system.

It's the team defense and offensive plan that make the Spurs the Spurs. Also I'd never compare LA to Duncan.

He shouldn't be a #1 pick but he is by far the best player in this years weak draft. You will see next year he will be the best rookie of this draft. I have seen all the top players play and there isn't any of them even close to Oladipo. If I had the #1 pick I would trade the pick if possible but if I had to make the pick it would have to be Oladipo.

Anyone can be compared to anyone. Tim Duncan, for example, is a lot taller and infinitely better at basketball than me. There, I did it. :)

As for Duncan v. LaMarcus: Duncan is a unanimous GOAT/LaMarcus is merely a second team All Star. Duncan is nearing the end of his career, LaMarcus is in his prime. Right now, today, at this stage of their careers, I think LaMarcus is a better player, head-to-head. Oops, I did it again. :)

Can you clarify what you mean? I might agree with you if we're talking LMA v Duncan playing against each other. But if we're talking about comparing their games against the entire league over the course of an NBA season, then there's absolutely no way LMA is better than Duncan.

Shortly after the season ended, I heard that Al Jefferson was packing his bags and expecting to walk elsewhere as a free agent.

I also heard that Paul Millsap and Earl Watson got into it with Ty Corbin last season. Not sure if that will affect their future in Utah.
