Said on the radio that the Blazers are concerned about making an offer that will eventually just get matched and therefor waste time and other FA options.

Agreed they should have interest, as well as agreed they should be wary about a waste of time.

What are the new CBA rules about S&T? If both teams are under the cap, cant we work out a S&T for either? I know there was a change, but can't remember what it was?

Uh oh...
It's why I'd be very leery of ever trading with the Spurs - the player you get from them won't be 80% of whatever they showed while playing for the Spurs.

Honestly, I've never been all that impressed with Splitter. And given that he's been playing under Pops you can be fairly certain that he's already shown you his best and won't replicate it outside of the Spurs system.

Nets, Wolves Discuss MarShon Brooks Trade -- http://bit.ly/16vjL4z

The Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a trade involving MarShon Brooks, according to sources.

The Nets need depth at point guard, while the Wolves have a surplus in JJ Barea and Luke Ridnour.

The Wolves are targeting perimeter shooters on the wing.

A proposal is on the table waiting for the approval of the Wolves.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

The New York Knicks are certainly planning a productive offseason. With free agency quietly approaching in a few weeks, the Knicks could possibly be looking to dump one or more of their marquee players. The team has very little flexibility when it comes to their roster and financial freedom. Knicks vice president Glen Grunwald has expressed his desire to keep the core players together, but if they want to improve, that might not be possible. As a result, the team is tossing around the idea of sending Tyson Chandler to the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources report.

Iman Shumpert is not going anywhere. The Knicks view him as a young asset. Amar'e Stoudemire has an inflated contract of $44 million and a poor history of injuries so he is not very valuable in a trade. This leaves Chandler as bait for a favorable package in return.

The idea might be hard to swallow for Knicks' fans. Chandler has been one of the most productive players on the team in the past two seasons. However, Chandler will be 31 with a history of injuries in his knees and back. His productivity and ability to still play at an elite level make him very attractive to other teams.

Truebluefan posted this somewhere else. Not sure that website is credible at all, but if true, Portland should do everything they can to get Chandler next to LMA

14+ million for 2 more years. That is a lot of money. If the Knicks think they would get a sweet deal in return, they are crazy. He may only be 31 but he has a lot of mileage. Cap space is the best they can ask for, and they may have to take back a 3 million dollar player. I would do it for Joel, but I would not offer too much more.

Seconded.

Disagree. He's already breaking down. At best it would be Theo Ratliff or Marcus Camby (as Blazers), only a lot pricier.

I put this in the Papanikolaou thread. I hope Olshey just brings him over. The link says he wants to play in the NBA now, but the Blazers don't want to pay the buyout, and points out we have Claver and Batum. But I say you could play all three of them at once (Claver as a stretch 4, Batum as a 2) because they're all versatile. And, unless he nets us Dieng, he'll be a lot more valuable than a low first.

Funny that the Knicks want him back so badly.

I hope Olshey deals him for an established nba center

Report: Rockets near deal to trade Thomas Robinson… but to whom? http://dlvr.it/3Z6Sz6

The Houston Rockets have planned to move Thomas Robinson for a while — they need him off the books to make a full max-contract offer to Dwight Howard come July 1. And getting Howard is the top priority.

The Rockets are very close to getting that deal done, reports the Houston Chronicle. The question is with whom?

The Rockets are in advanced talks on a cap-clearing trade of forward Thomas Robinson, with a deal potentially “imminent,” a person with knowledge of their plans said on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs have shown interest in Robinson, according to another individual with knowledge of the Rockets efforts to move Robinson’s $3.5 million salary next season.

The Cavaliers make far more sense here — Houston needs to make this trade without bringing salary back and the Cavaliers are under the cap and can absorb the $3.5 million Robinson will make next year. Plus it makes sense for the Cavaliers, who add last year’s No. 5 pick and a guy who looked pretty good when he got the chance to play a little last year.

The Spurs deal is more complex because a third team would need to come in to absorb salary. There could be another team that has been able to keep this quiet involved — the Bulls have a trade exception and there are more than a dozen teams with the cap room to make this deal happen.

The Rockets acquired Robinson from the Sacramento Kings in a trade deadline deal.

Something to watch, this probably goes down before the draft.

Dude he is a PG! So what do we do with Lillard? You are fine having 2 6'4" guards on this team?

Maybe that's why he sucks! Everybody thought he was a big beast of a PF, but he's really a PG.

Sign me up.

Could Cleveland acquire him then flip him in a package to us? Or would they want him to replace a player they would be sending to us?

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

His reach and wing span are both longer than Wes Matthews

Yeah, but neither of those measurements are as important as how long his neck is. Neck length is key to success at SG.
