Report: Kings' Demarcus Cousins wants a max extension from the Kings, or there could be a trade demand. http://cbsprt.co/19VDBdH

That's an interesting position to take. Some might want to wait on an extension to see if the team can put together a winner. Sounds like money is more important than winning for him. Red flag.

Re: Cousins news today....was told the Kings were prepared to move him before the max contract demand. Should be a big market for him...

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

That's a huge red flag. A guy with such a checkered history needs to establish that he cares about winning in order for another team to feel comfortable gambling on him turning things around in a new environment. A max contract makes that an even bigger gamble while clouding his motivations further.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Or maybe he's saying "The only way I'm sticking around this podunk, loser team is if they pay me the largest amount of money allowable, which I know they won't, so: "

One among many, and this is a minor one.

Still one of the most dangerous choices for a new gm. Swing for the fences and miss and you loss your job. I just don't think olshey will risk it. It's safer to bunt with gortat and steal home with the idea, a healthy batum, improved Lillard and a possible decent pick will get you into the playoffs.

Then wait for the team that has the disgruntled star to trade for.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

What would it take to get Cousins? He's not a great rim protecter, but is a beast. I'm not sure we have the right pieces. Leonard would have to be part of it. Leonard, #10 and something else? Nic just adds salary, which they don't need.

I don't think we go for him. We would have to give up a decent amount to get him then give him a max contract off the bat for a player that has shown way to much inconsistency and and is an extreme nutcase.

I can see the press conference now: "We couldn't get Doc Rivers, so we settled for this guy." This guy: "I'm honored that the Nuggets showed the faith to settle for me. I'm looking forward to starting the season and bringing a championship to the great fans in Denver."

Bad news for #Heat Haters. RT @christomasson: Greg Oden interested in Heat and vice versa. To meet w/Riley July 1.

That worries me because I think Oden can come back and be a decent player for years. Of course for anyone who thinks he is done can just laugh at Pat Riley.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I think he will make it back, but I only see him as a shadow of his former projection

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Makes sense for Greg. On the Heat he can hide in plain sight. It would be the most stress-and-pressure-free environment to make a comeback - they can win a title without him, so anything he does is just gravy. See if he can beat out Joel Anthony for minutes. (Or Chris Andersen if he's ambitious.)

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

1 Corinthians 14:2

For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God; for nobody understands them,

Wouldn't Greg want to go where the money is the best? Heat are at $85M for next year. Some team under the cap might roll the dice and give him $2-5M/year for a few years.

I'm sure if that was on the table, he would. I'm pretty sure it isn't.

The Heat can only offer him the mini-MLE ($3.2m) or less, and I have to think they still want to bring back Bird Man, who may take up all of the MLE.

Unless Oden wants to play for peanuts, he most likely won't be in Miami.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Greg wants to play where

A: it's sunny and there's tons of black folk (preferably easy hot women probably)
B: he doesn't have to be a star and can suck and still win a title
C: It's not Portland

so I doubt he'll worry about $$.

dude will probably have another season ending injury anyways, so wgaf.

(btw, my post was only semi sarcastic)

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I don't get the Oden thing, Birdman just seems much better than him. The Heat need to find replacements for Battier/Miller. A stretch 4/3.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Yeah, i'd definitely take him to back up LMA.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

He'll be 30 when this season starts as well, I think he sees this as the best opportunity to get a 3+ year deal. He doesn't have much to gain by opting in as its hard to see his value next season surpassing what it is now. He'd probably rather have the 4 mil over 3 or 4 years guaranteed than a one or two year 5-6 mil contract. Not that he'll get that but its possible he could re-sign for 4 mil/year as long as he got long term security.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Isn't a back up PF a little farther down on the priority list? I can't see us affording him after we obtain a center and back up PG. Not saying I wouldn't like to get him though. Especially if LMA gets hurt. But unless we include Joel in a trade, I think he and Claver are our two back ups to LMA.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Oden would have a better ceiling
