Just say no to David Lee

I'd include Batum in some other deal and make way for Barnes, though

IF they actually have a pick to throw our way, I'm liking this idea. It satisifies all three of my criteria for an Aldridge trade. (Young lottery pick, future first rounder, 2014 cap space.)

Hell, if we get lucky Bogus misses most of the season with an injury and we get our own lotto pick next year. :devilwink:

Barnes > Thompson

Which is why GS probably wouldn't give him up for Aldridge

I am not so sure about that, I think Thompson is the better defender of the two and he's also a very good shooter, I'm thinkin tossup but Thompson can guard bot guard positions

One thing to remember that the 2014 draft is rather strong at the SF position (4 or 5 projected top 10 players @ SF): Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Robinson III

I guess Golden State may not be done with talking to Olshey about LaMarcus Aldridge. ESPN radio is saying Golden State still wants to pair up LaMarcus Aldridge with Stephen Curry....

Looks like David Lee or Andrew Bogut and a choice of Klay Thompson or Harrison Barnes.

If this is correct then I would go with Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes.....

How connected is this guy? "discovery69"

If that's his site, i'm dubious about the idea of him having inside info.

Haha, looks like Martell was in Portland.

And holy crap, I didn't realize Martell is still just 26 years old. That's younger than Aldridge. Geez!

17F? Flying coach? Good for him.

What is Dave (Blazer'sEdge) talking about on the radio? CHA and DET? Those teams are not going to be trading for LA, nor would he want to go there (and stay)....guy has lost his marbles...

GS, CHI, CLE...possibly teams like HOU, LAC (reduce chance now) all make a ton more sense...

I'm confident Barnes will be the better pro.

Thompson is kind of a one trick pony. Barnes has already shown signs of a diverse offensive game at 20 years old.

He's going to be good.

Bogut/Barnes/Pick? for LA + force em to take back Freeland. I'd do that. Looked through some numbers a few days ago, and I'd definitely take Barnes over Klay.

And move Wessy in a S&T for a PF (take your pick: Al Jeff/Smoove/Millsap)

This lineup is better than what we can get if LA is here: Dame/Nic/HB/Millsap/Bogut

It's probably discovery69 or TBPup. He used to post on the blazers forum at Hoopsworld. Dude had connections back in the day. Not sure how good his sources are now.

I'm still not really sold on a deal with GS. I don't think Klay Thompson is that good honestly. Put the chips on the table. I think they're trying to get Aldridge as another bargaining chip to lure Howard. That way they can say, "come join LMA and Curry to form a big three."

Thompson, Barnes, Bogut for Aldridge and Matthews.

Use our cap space on Josh Smith or Al Jeff.

Lillard/McCollum
Thompson/Crabbe
Batum/Barnes
Smith/Robinson
Bogut/Leonard

That bench is pretty good. We get younger, more athletic, and we have good shooting. Not bad.

Yeah, they seemed to have more knowledge back in the day than they do now. Now, they're extremely vague, like a palm reader. And yet, it still seems they've been more off than on. I'd say this changed when KP was let go, so it could be a case of just keeping up appearances.

Both of them were heavily connected in the Patternash front office, but they lost most of their sources in the "big purge" of the front office back in the early 2000s. Not sure how connected they are now.

He really isn't. He plays very good D, has great size for his position, and can flat out shoot off the dribble from any distance.

Barnes is an incredible athlete and explodes to the basket. He will also be good. But don't under estimate Klay.

I dunno if they really are at this point, or just trying to act like they still are. Not knocking them, as they clearly had a connection at some point. But the level of vagueness they now operate under, and when they finally do put things out there, it seems like they're off, and they miss the things that do happen. It could be that they believe they are still connected, but their source is not as connected as he/she was.

Yeah, I don't know. I haven't talked to either one of them in like 10 years.

Too much $$ chasing too few quality free agents.

The Dwight-cision coming soon.

Once Dwight is signed, it seems LaMarcus will be the most valuable commodity available this summer.

Olshey has rejected several offers already.

Now, Olshey sits and waits for the offers to improve.

That's a good point. After Dwight makes his call, whenever the hell that is, I think the market for LMA will increase significantly.

He's going to be good.

My bet is the opposite. Barnes has very limited dribbling game. His solid numbers in the playoffs were all because of the Spurs deciding to leave him open. Meanwhile Klay Thompson is a much better shooter and a surprisingly solid defender. I was shocked at how good Thompson was when I saw him in Summer League. He was the best player of the Summer - so good they pulled him quickly because they realized it was a waste playing him. Barnes is, at best, a slightly better-than-average SF. (His numbers in the playoffs also looked good because he was playing PF with Lee out, so it looked like he could get round people a little. Yes, he can get round Matt Bonner.)

Barnes is an incredible athlete and explodes to the basket.

Maybe if he was playing against regular mortals, but he's nothing special against NBA players. Granted he's better than Thompson, but Thompson is much more skilled.

No doubt Thompson is more skilled and as I said I would prefer him over Barnes. But if I remember correctly his vertical leap is way above average for NBA players.
