I seem to recall a game against Seattle when Kemp was still Kemp. I believe it was O'Neal's rookie year. Because of injury or foul trouble, he got some serious run that game, and it was the first time we got to see extended minutes from him. And he looked great. He was outplaying Kemp, even blocking a shot or two of Kemp's. I remember being amazed at the performance. Then, he struggled in a few miniscule opportunities, and he seemed to ride the pine after that.

He's only 25. He had a pretty solid season last year. If he can stay healthy, he'll be a huge addition for this team. I've said it before, but if he keeps taking steps forward, he's going to mean a lot to this team. I keep seeing people talking about him being a short-term fix. But again, he's 25, coming off a solid season, and still has room to develop.

I was at a Laker/Blazer game that year when Shaq and Jermaine got into a fight on the court.

Yep. Big men also take longer on average to hit their ceiling, so he's got plenty of room to grow. I love this low-risk addition.

Low risk? Hey don't cheapen his value, at 6 million dollars a year, he is the Bazers biggest FA signing this summer (I know it was a trade but basically acted as a FA signing as it took a bulk of the cap space)

If you don't think it was a good value, then how about showing a center as young or younger, with his production who was signed for less.

He could be a good value. Don't know if good value is exactly what I was hoping for this summer, but no, I'm not saying he wasn't good value. 6 mil/yr for a starting center is a good deal . . . I was just pointing out that he was the biggest acquisition this summer, salary wise, so expectations should be a little high for Lopez.

Another shooter bound for the Rockets: Reggie Williams to Rockets on two-year minimum deal. Team option in Year 2

Hearing: Wolves closing in on three-year deal with coveted swingman Corey Brewer in $15 million range

Marc Stein‏@ESPNSteinLine3h
'Sota needs to move Ridnour & Bucks, I'm told, all set to take him in. That creates space for Wolves to sign Brewer & do S-and-T for Martin

Lakers working on complicated deal with Jordan Farmar http://lat.ms/1dkhRpb

BTW, Rip Hamilton was released today, as expected. Bulls have to pay him $1 million.

Mike McGraw‏@McGrawDHBulls7m
@Abarig Nate would have to accept minimum salary (again). That's all Bulls can offer. I'm sure he's hoping something better comes along.

The trade is final. Here's a look at who is going where. Is it a win for the Jazz? No question. http://bit.ly/15x40ej

I'd say it is...wow...

Jazz get:
Andris Biedrins
Richard Jefferson
Brandon Rush
2014 unprotected first round pick (GSW)
2017 unprotected first round pick (GSW)
2016 second round pick (GSW)
2017 second round pick (GSW)
2018 second round pick (Denver)

Rush is one-dimensional, Biedrins fell out of the Warrior rotation, and Jefferson should probably just retire.

The 2014 unprotected will likely be in the 20s, who cares about 2017, and the rest is filler.

Breaking: Sacramento Kings will announce tomorrow they have signed a deal to take over basketball operations of the Reno Bighorns

I wonder if since more and more teams are going to single team affiliations that we will see more D-League teams added and if this is a sign that it is building to more of a true minor league system?

This works out well for the rest of the NBA. The NBA's farm team, the Sacramento Kings, has taken over operations of its' own farm team. And the cost doesn't come out of anyone else's pockets.

I hope so.

The 2014 unprotected is a bad Steph Curry crossover away from being a possible lotto pick, and getting all that other stuff for just pushing your cap space 1 year (and filling out your minimum salary requirements) is a heckuva deal. 3 draft picks and an unprotected future first (even forgetting about the 2014) is more than we gave up to get Robinson and Lopez, who aren't filler. Rush is a rotation player on just about any team in the league (including MIA and OKC). Agree that Jeff and Biedrins might (should?) be cut (or moved at the deadline). But they didn't have to take on any long-term salary to get a lot of useful assets. And it wasn't like they were going to use that 20M this year on Howard or CP3 anyway.

Yep. Utah made out like bandits imo. They were going to suck anyways. Might as well spend money that they have to spend and get some picks thrown in to suck even better.

Wow no protection at all?! All that loss of Jack and Landry for just Iggy?! Move looks stupid for GS

Damn Jazz possibly getting a lot better after this coming season. I don't hate them as much anymore, but you don't wanna see conference rivals improving.

Has no one posted that Bynum signed with Cleveland?

2 years 24 million but 2nd year team option. 1st year only 6 million guaranteed. Great contract imo.

Lmao!!!

“@SurrenderVegas: .@MettaWorldPeace For the record, we'd never amnesty you. :) Hope to see you back in Vegas soon!”

Honestly, I didn't realize you could do partially guaranteed contracts in the NBA. I'm surprised we don't see more of that.

If that's doable, why not pick Oden up on a deal that only guarantees six figures? Hell, he owes it to the Blazers.

This might be why:

Jason Lloyd: #Cavs are capped out. Full $12mil counts against cap though only $6mil is guaranteed.

Well this coming season they should be terrible. We will see if they can actually pull off what they are trying. Too often plans like this result in many bad years.
