Early indications are Bucks only have to renounce Joel Przybilla to have room for Jeff Teague offer sheet we reported this AM was en route

Honestly, I didn't realize you could do partially guaranteed contracts in the NBA. I'm surprised we don't see more of that.

If that's doable, why not pick Oden up on a deal that only guarantees six figures? Hell, he owes it to the Blazers.

They do contracts that are guaranteed once a player is with the team past a certain date all the time.

He still have a house here? I pretty sure he went back to MIL because his wife has family there so maybe he is ready to retire there.

Yeah, I remember reading an article stating the MIL location as their primary residence.

I'm taking this to a new thread

Yeah, but I've only really heard of that in terms of 10-day contracts, where after two 10-day contracts, players have to be inked for the rest of the season.

I've never really heard of a contract like Bynum's. Are there other examples? Also, how long does Bynum have to be on the active roster to get his full salary?

Article on Heat player Ian Clark (who has basically played Myck Kabongo out of a job) includes a chart that show him at the top, but check out players 2 and 3:

He's on the Warriors LVSL team. Most interested to see him out of all the non-draftees. Also was a DPOY in college.

Players have had all sorts of incentives in contracts. Zach Randolph had a incentives for making an all-star team and Brandon Roy had incentives if the Blazers got to the NBA finals. Matt Bonner gets $100k if the sum of his FG%, FT%, and 3PT% exceed 169%. As others have said the team still has to fit the incentives in the salary cap.

If a player was offered two contracts one with incentives and one without they'd always rather have the contract without incentives even if it paid slightly less. So in practice incentives have the effect of "lowering" the salary cap a team has to work with and thus are not used as often as would seem prudent.

Martell Webster said Cleveland, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York, the Clippers and Portland showed interest in him.

I have seen the 100k incentives, just never 6 million in incentives

Yep. Utah made out like bandits imo. They were going to suck anyways. Might as well spend money that they have to spend and get some picks thrown in to suck even better.
Two unprotected 1st round picks from GSW? HOLY HELL! And as someone said - if Curry goes down this season, which is never worse than 50/50 odds, they're staring a lotto pick in the face. And I think the chances are even higher that GSW slip backwards by the time 2017 rolls around! Especially if they keep making stupid movies.

They are unprotected too

So if POR releases Terrel Harris (would seem likely)....There is still a fair amount of interesting players out there for the 15th roster spot...

PG

M.Williams (possible return to UTA?)
B.Udrih
A.Brooks
N.Robinson
R.Beaubois

SG
M.Ellis (recent rumours to CHA)
G.Henderson (RFA - unable to come to terms with CHA, may be moved in S&T)
N.Young (Some rumours of LAL)
G.Neal (RFA - But may be gone with Bellinelli signing)

SF
A.Jamison (Rumours about GS)
A.Kirilenko (Left $10/yr on table, looks like he gets the bad decision award...SA tried to get him via S&T, BKN was also interested but only @ $3.5 per)
C.Maggette
M.World Peace (if amnestied, rumours are NY will pursue him)

PF
J.Maxiell

Also, nice recap of where teams stand on free agency from 2 days ago:

G. Oden looks interesting; horribly misused by his last team, could finally be beating the injury bug.

Its hard not to wonder if he had gone through all of that with another team if we would be a team that might take a chance on him for the right contract.

and with that said ....

Andrew Bynum has gained weight, not touched a ball in some time http://dlvr.it/3f0BM9

Oh Cleveland you risky risk takers YOU!

Apparently the Lakers have signed Nick Young.

....and the collapse is complete.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers are as good or a little better than they were last year.....I certainly wouldn't count them out....

Blazers GM Neil Olshey on the draft pick details in 3-way trade for Robin Lopez and trade for Thomas Robinson.

Lopez trade...

"Sacramento gets the 2016 New York Knicks' second-round pick, protected to 37, from the Jared Jeffries trade. They get the right to swap to second-round picks with us in 2018. New Orleans gets the rights to Jeff Withey and the cash to pay Robin Lopez's trade kicker." ($1.6 million).

Robinson trade...

"Thomas Robinson was traded for the rights to Kostas Papanikolaou, the rights to Marko Todorovic, our 2017 second-round pick and Minnesota's 2015 second-round pick."

Did Minnesota's 2015 second-round pick come from us? If so then we sent out two second-round players (one who people think can be a star) plus 3 second-round picks plus the right to for a team to swap 2nd round picks for us.

I still like these deals but we gave up more and more each time we read about this.

Considering the hit-rate on second rounders, I'd say the opportunity cost is pretty low.

It all depends on if Pau has anything left in the tank. I'm not expecting much from them after seeing how terrible Nash was and the cutting lose of MWP.

The Nets have signed Kirilenko. He turned down $10M and is signed for about a third of that. Amazing pickup for the Nets. The Russian connection. Now they have a bench!
