I think Miller is a better fit because A) we don't have a distributor currently on the team, and B) he would make Dame better. Don't you remember how much better Dame's numbers got after we brought in Maynor? He plays well next to a passing point guard. Billups is not a passing point guard. If anything, Billups is what we're hoping Lillard will eventually become, so having a slower, older version of Dame doesn't really sound appealing to me.

Dude I love Miller man! I would be totally giddy if he came back. I'm just telling you, I believe he's more a pipe dream than Billups is. I just don't see him coming to Portland. If we manage to get him, it would be a great pick up!

It's just a matter of what Denver would want in return. Freeland/Harris would bring back cap space, but they might be looking for more than that. :dunno:

Denver would need more than Freeland and Harris. i suspect they would want Claver as the biggest asset coming back. I don't know if I want to do that.

I would. If the goal is to keep Aldridge and win now, Miller would help us do that. I like Claver, but he's not a deal breaker for me.

Billups is going to sign with a contender. He's not going to want to backup Lillard on a team that will most likely be a 7th or 8th seed.

Billups signed with DET a week or so ago.

Edit: Sorry to single out you Nate. It is more for both you and Mags.

I will admit that Miller would be a perfect compliment for Aldridge and Co. But I thought we were talking about the idea of Aldridge leaving. I'm a little confused I guess.

I know it's complicated Mags, but try to keep up :devilwink:

There's two lines of thinking.

1) If the team is going to trade Aldridge, who should they be going after?

2) If the team is going to try to win to appease Aldridge, who should they be going after?

Miller falls under #2.

I absolutely agree with that. Miller was one of the key components for the LaMonster LMA

Talk about overpaid.

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt

Dallas finalizes deal with F/C Brandan Wright for two years, $10M guaranteed, with an additional $1.1M in incentives, per agent Jim Tanner.

The best part is in addition to feeding LMA, Miller could really make Robinson, Lopez and Leonard look good.

I'd trade any and all of Freeland, Claver, Barton, Harris, and 2nd round picks for Miller. I don't think Denver wants anything to do with Freeland since he is guaranteed $3 million in 2014-15. Millers contract is only partially guaranteed for $2 million. I don’t see Denver being interested in a deal. This is another one of those types of trades that could happen during the season if Denver is struggling.

Wow, I love Dre but I wouldn't do that. He won't stay longer than a year, maybe two tops, and I like Claver as a rotation player and I love Will for the thrillz.

Miller is one of the better backup PG's in the league and I don't think either of those guys are ready to play minutes. Neither one has a ton of upside potential. Sure they are fun to root for as the 12th man but if I don't want someone to be on the court for us then realistically I got to admit I think of them as scrubs. Flipping scrubs for a rotational player is always a good choice.

It seems many have the same opinion about Miller . . . makes a solid backup PG.

What I don't get is: Denver gave Lawson a big contract to be their PG and lead the team (should get bulk of minutes), Miller is capable of giving Lawson whatever rest he needs (nice luxury), but why aquire Foye AND Robinson this summer.

They also have their 2012 first round pick Evan Fourneir, who was only the 20th pick, but is good enough to be a third string PG, instead he is 5th string PG. Ouch.

Edit: Nevermind about Fourneir, he is a SG. I still think Denver trades Miller.

I'm wondering if we could have waited to sign Watson and maybe tried to get Mo Williams for cheap? Yeah he doesn't have the skill set we currently need, but he's quite a bit better than Watson.

I'v got a feeling Mo ends up taking a ton less to play with his BFF Lebron.

Thats got me thinking they will trade him as well. I don't know what they would really want though, probably an asset and cap relief. Dunno if we could give them that.

I'm done trying to figure out what Denver is doing this offseason. I think thats a team with major problems in the front office. They let their best player and the coach of the year walk, trade away their starting center for a backup PF, sign another backup PF with the same skill set as their other starting PF, then add marginal backup guards. Just like the John Nash Blazers this Denver team would've been better off with a monkey running the show doing absolutely nothing but eating bananas.

Gary Neals available. I'd take him off the bench in a quick second.

Hawks sign Pero Antic! He's great: he'd totally play an enemy (who later becomes an ally) of Conan if the remake hadn't flopped. He's beefy, bald and multiply-tattooed. I've seen him play a lot for Macedonia and Olympiakos: basically he gets defensive rebounds and hits three pointers.
