What was Oregon's overall record against USC?

I do agree, if we do get someone down in USC like a Sumlin or Saban, the Pac-12's SOS and prestige will only go up.

these aren't your father's Ducks. Worrying for the sake of worrying isn't something I find worthwhile, especially since Oregon is rolling

Wheels: I could be wrong, but when we are whiffing on Alfonso Hampton for what has got to be off the field issues, be it grades, attitude or whatever, I sense the right kind of kid is what Oregon is truly looking for. I'd take Alfonso Hampton over any kid listed in my last post and twice on Sunday for the sheer low block disruption a 6'5 310 player can be to opposing O lines. He looks like a Warren Sapp to me. This guy isn't on twitter giving himself names like "King" or "WORLD" he just wrecking O lines. Character counts in Eugene egos don't!

I'm not arguing against that train of thought. I was just pointing out that McGraw isnt exactly just a 3* Hopeful Diamond in the rough.

Also though DAT's Twitter handle I think is or was something along the lines of "KingMomba6" or something of that sort. We need some swagger after all

whiffing on Hampton :smiley-squint: Do you think every college places a huge emphasis on character, or just Oregon? A huge athletic DT only trails the QB position in terms of sought after talent by colleges. That no one has offered Hampton is a lot more telling then that Oregon hasn't. Obviously he's got a major red flag or two that don't show up on the highlight reel

Stomp,

Thus why I said character is a big deal at Oregon. Otherwise this kid would already be a Duck...

Many schools overlook a players off the field issues for wins... just look at Florida under Meyer, The U under Erickson, almost a decade of debauchery under Osborne at Nebraska same for the Switzer years in Norman. I think when you whiff on a 6'5 310 pound DT or players that put themselves first for the sake of the program, your program is seeing the bigger picture and building a team first.

a rose by any other name would smell as sweet... and still be incapable of rational thought

No one has offered Hamilton. Not Oregon, no one. If it was only character that was holding him back from getting a Duck offer, & as you say other schools don't have a similar hangup on character, then it would follow that someone would have extended an offer if he's a legit dominant D1 prospect at one of the hardest to fill positions. But no one has offered, and yet you're still pushing this all too familiar silliness

for a school to "whiff" on someone is when they want a prospect and roll out the red carpet to entice them to commit, but the kid doesn't reciprocate interest and chooses to go elsewhere. For instance, after offering and hosting Marquis Lee on an OV a couple recruiting cycles back, Oregon whiffed and he chose USC. Again, since as of yet the Ducks haven't offered let alone rolled out the red carpet in pursuit of AH despite his earlier quotes relaying interest in UO, they haven't whiffed on him. Just the opposite is the case here as they appear to have said thanks but no thanks

Two of our main WR targets will be committing elsewhere this weekend most likely. Brown to Vandy and Berrios to Miami. We do have an outside shot still but it would be unexpected at this point.

247 rumor is sam jones or oregon may be distancing and oregon is picking up more interest in 3star nick gates.

That's just weird. Why would we not be interested in Jones?

And why Gates? He has friggin 'Bama and TAMU offered and on his list. No way he'd pick us over them.

Torodney Prevot chose Oregon over offer that were closer to home like LSU, aTm, Oklahoma, Texas,

Tony James from Florida has offers from Florida and Ohio State and chose to commit to cross country

Bralon Addison left in state school offer from aTm to come to Oregon

Phaaroh Brown spurned an offer from Michigan to come to Oregon via Ohio

Dwayne Stanford opted to leave Ohio for Oregon despite offers from Alabama, Florida St, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio St, Notre Dame.

Those are just from the last 3 recruiting cycles

I believe Gates is from the same school as other possible Target Randall Cunningham. Though Oregon doesn't really do package deal it is important to note that neither player has Oregon Offers yet.

New 2015 offers out
Jeffery Holland LB
Jihree Steward DB
Soso Jamabo RB
Keisean lucier-south DE

Speaking of Stanford.... what happened to that dude?

He's on the team, but not playing at all which is surprising considering he gave them some good snaps last season.

got hurt in Fall Camp

Have to say if we could grab Cunningham III as a wide receiver, the big body down the field receiver with good hands would be achieved. He's a QB now, so I think he's an Addison type with 6 inches. Not a bad weapon to have! If Stanford can get injury free with Mundt and Brown, we'd have some serious height out there for SURE!!

Gotcha, any chance for a medical redshirt on that one?

Not entirely sure on Medical part and if its different (or if thats more of a 6th year of eligbility thing) but his Redshirt is available. But I'm all for going all in this season if we need him :)

Having just missed out on targets van dyke and berrios looks like there is a lot of smoke about Jalen possibly being a duck

Jalen who?

Also, all of UCLA's commits are either WRs or CBs. They have no meat up front or any Front-seven guys. I think we may get a decommit from UCLA allowing us to swoop in.

And whats the buzz I'm hearing on Jake Knight? He an OLB?

some of the muckety mucks over at rivals are saying that chances are strong he'll be flashing an O... should announce shortly
