Honestly since whoever we draft probably won't play, I think the best strategy would be to just take the highest upside/most athletic guy and just develop him. A Rudy gobert type.

I think we have enough raw young talen we are in the midst of developing right now...at least one player in every position.
Lillard is still learning the game, as good as he is, his continued maturity should help his turnovers, assists and decision making over the next three years.
Meyers and McCullom are still developing. Crabbe is still learning. Freeland has room to improve.

I would rather see us take this pick and use it as a trade, or pick and trade on the day of. Id like to see one more solid vet on our bench that hopefully has championship experience...Like a Ray Allen or a Teyshan Prince type. Someone that knows their role is now to keep the championship mindset consistent.
I think the ups and downs this season...obviously injuries played a part, but giving up leads...this s a sign of mental lapse and not really playing consistent, championship caliber ball. We need that locker room champ who can keep our eyes on the prize, because he knows exactly where it is. He has been there.
Im not talking a Dorell Wright who rode the bench for the most part on a championship team, I am talking about a guy who was a true contributer to winning a ring.
Maybe even a Haslem? I think he is free this summer?
Anyhow, I dont see us drafting anyone who can come in and make an immediate impact and we have enough developing players. We are in a win now mode and I would like to see yet one more addition in the off season. The last two off seasons have proved to be perfect decision making by Olshey. one more and we might see is in the finals a few times over the next 5 years or so.

I've been thoroughly impressed with Frank the Tank Kaminsky. He was supposed to be exposed against Kentucky because their bigs were supposedly in another league athletically. What actually happened was he was the best player on the floor. He defended without getting in foul trouble, he kept them off the glass, he scored in different spots all over the floor. Plus he can pass and handle the ball well for a big guy. Yet nbadraft.net has him projected to go #17, behind the 3 bigs from UK that he just crushed. I expected him to be shut down by the UK front line, but he made me a believer. He's not going to make All Star games, but he looks like a solid Brad Miller type. I'd love to have that guy.

Christian Wood declared for the draft.

He's a realistic target at #23.

Hernangomez is leaning towards waiting for NEXT years draft.

If that's the case, Robert Upshaw and Timothe Luwawu shoot up my draft board.

But I hope Hernangomez changes his mind. Our best option though might be trying to steal Jokic (not Nurkic, duh) out of Denver.

Sleeper who unexpectedly declared:

He'll end up in the late-lotto or mid-first. He'd be a player you would want to trade up for.

Hollis-Jefferson would be nice. We need to start thinking about bringing in tough defenders.

He reminds me a bit of Dekker.

Defenders? Look no further than Robert Upshaw.

If you look that far ahead, I offer you Udoka Azubuike - 6'10 | 275 lbs | 7'6" wingspan | 15 years old

If he really is 15 he's going to be a 7'0" 300 lb. beast going into college.

A raw project - super athletic PF. He probably shouldn't have declared, he likely would be a lotto pick in next years weak draft.

Poor man's Blake Griffin:

He actually looks real nice. I like how he can put the ball on the floor just hope he doesn't have tunnel vision. I mean he has a nice handle. I wouldn't mind taking him at 23. I never really watched much LSU last year, but they'll probably be strong in the next couple years as they got a top 5 recruiting class coming in.

I still like RHJ a lot with that pick. He brings us a tenacious defender who can guard multiple positions. I think he might eventually develop into more of a scorer.

I agree. His defense alone can make him a useful rotation player. That deep in the draft, you can't expect more than that.

If RJH had a reliable jumper he'd be a lotto pick.

His 20% from three is atrocious.

Even with his broken jumper his defensive abilities will make him a mid-first guy. I doubt he'll be there at #23.

I searched around a bit and found out that Shaq was 6'8" 265 lbs at the same age.

This kid could be a super rare prospect.

But he is from Nigeria, he could be 30.

RHJ will be a solid defender but I almost rather sign Aminu and draft Upshaw, I think finding a big bodied rim protecter is more what we're going to need (insurance for rolo leaving).

He looks 30... Is he keleena's brother or cousin?

I just let out an ugh whenever I look at the mock drafts and see who they have available when the Blazers are picking. I just don't see anyone that really adds anything to the equation in any way as the team currently is comprised.

Hollis-Jefferson can defend, so that makes him attractive if he's around when the Blazers pick, but I don't know if he ever develops much of an offensive game, and I just don't see him even contributing as a defender off the bench next year.

Not that the Blazers will have a shot at any of these guys, but there are a few guys at the top of the draft that I think can be really special. And it's not the two bigs who probably will go 1-2 ... I look at Okafor and I think he's the next Elton Brand, which is pretty good but I don't think he'll be great, and Towns is a kid you have to project, and I don't know that he ever becomes elite offensively.

I think, five years from now, the player everyone is going to say was the best from this draft is Justise Winslow. I just really love his athletic ability and size and what his offensive game could become. I think Hezonja could be the second coming of Peja Stojakavic, which is pretty good. Not big on Willie Cauley-Stein ... I think he's a poor man's Marcus Camby, but, of course, he has great feet which could translate into being an elite defender against the pick-and-roll. Like pretty much everyone, I like Stanley Johnson because he defends and physically is about as ready as anyone in this class. I really like Jerian Grant, too.

The rest of the guys I think it just depends on who they get drafted by and if they can find a niche. I don't see really anyone I can look at and just say "You know, he'll be a contributor wherever he goes, maybe just off the bench, but he can play." Lot of boom-bust guys in this draft, IMO.

Oh yeah, and I forgot one guy who really intrigues me: Myles Turner from Texas. I look at his game and I see a lot of LaMarcus Aldridge in it, but I think he could be more of a factor early in his career as a rebounder and defender than LA was. He seems to be getting projected a lot in the early teens. I think he is going to be a steal if he goes there.

Ford's latest mock: #23: Montrezl Harrell.

CBSsports riser:

Guillermo Hernangomez, C, Spain: Hernangomez is a per-minute statistical star, so he'd fit well in the analytically-heavy Sixers front office.

The guy to keep an eye on this year is Willy Hernangomez.

Slated to go early second, should go a lot higher like Jokic, an upside pick with legit center size. Raw but has a little Marc Gasol in skillset and size: 6'11" | 255 lbs | 7'2" wingspan | 9'1" reach | 20 y/o

Kristaps Porzingis apparently is pushing a legit 7'2" and can play above the rim. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he went over Okafor on draft day.

For reference.

Declared and likely to stay in the draft.

A realistic option at #23.

I'm a bit squeamish to take anymore Spanish players in the 20's.

Sergio Rodriguez (27th pick)
Rudy Fernandez (24th pick)
Victor Claver (22nd pick)

I want a scrappy defensive specialist swingman, can guard 1-3 effectively. Maybe hit a 3.

Who dat?
