The problem for them is if they throw the max at him and a max at Wade, they'd be paying massive taxes (repeat offenders).
I think it is pretty obvious that if they didn't want to pay that tax that they they would just pick Whiteside in that scenario personally. Wade (while still good) isn't a MAX player anymore.

It's not as cut and dry that Whiteside will automatically go back to MIA as some may think.
I not going to say Durant is a pipedream as much as he would be coming here but it is still a long shot. I personally don't see it happening. I never said don't go after Whiteside (I said the opposite even). But I do believe he picks MIA over another team if the money is comparable. Whiteside would make much more sense for them then Wade if it comes to that.
