Let's draft a 7 foot center from Greenland if we can find one. Just for the hell of it.

I want Payton because he's a 2x DPOY at PG, and because maybe his presence would be enough to get his dad to come and work with Dame.Everyone wants an Payton, Cook, or Sabonis.
Bias at its finest.
I'd pony up the CLE pick plus a future protected first for Ulis.
That's the price these days for a late lotto/mid-first.
Lol having the glove in the building nightly would be bad ass. His trash talking would be amazing.I want Payton because he's a 2x DPOY at PG, and because maybe his presence would be enough to get his dad to come and work with Dame.
Value pick in the second round: Jarrod Uthoff
6'10" with a 7'0" wingspan
Legit outside shooter (38%) and was #11 in blockshots in the nation. Not bad for a SF/PF.
The if Thon Maker fall to the 2nd round if I was portland I would make trade to pick him up. He as all ability to be very good NBA player. He might 1 or 2years away but I think he is worth gamble.
http://www.foxsports.com.au/basketb...s|5|link|homepage|homepage&itmt=1463196534251Maker’s 36.5’ maximum vertical leap is the highest ever record in the NBA Draft Combine history, among players over 6’11. The 32’ standing vertical leap was the highest in history, among players over 6’11.
He's lived in Australia since he was 5, so I doubt it.These players born in Africa notoriously lie about their age.
Maker is probably 26.
Dude is way less polished than Vonleh even. He has some work to do before becoming a rotation player. You're right though, he does have tremendous upside. Not sure there are enough minutes for him to make it worth trading up to get him. Most likely would be Davis, Plumlee, or Vonleh that would need to go to make if worth while.Thon Maker is a guy you have to take a chance on. He has years to put on muscle and once he does, he could very well be the best center in the league. It's rare you find high upside like that in the late 1st
I think his raw skills and feel for the game are better than Vonlehs to be quite honestDude is way less polished than Vonleh even. He has some work to do before becoming a rotation player. I think Vonleh is a safer bet, similar skill set albeit in a smaller body. Already knows the system and showed some improvement over the course of the season.
I know the kid has a ton of upside, but in the current mode we are currently in, I think we would be crazy to get rid of any of those 3 guys to get him. Vonleh is young and has tremendous upside himself. While plumlee, and Davis were instrumental in our growth this season. Good character guys who have the work ethic to improve physicaly and skillfully to better contribute more than they did this season.Dude is way less polished than Vonleh even. Interesting. I think we should trade at least one - if not two - of those three guys.I know the kid has a ton of upside, but in the current mode we are currently in, I think we would be crazy to get rid of any of those 3 guys to get him. Well this pretty much guarantees that they are looking to acquire a draft pick somewhere right? Why would they be meeting with prospects if they don't plan on being active draft day...Looking into it Maker's age is legit.
That was my only qualm.
Fwiw -- Neil met with Maker yesterday.
I hate highlight tapes cause they deceive but Jesus Christ... Maker looks like an unholy mix of Shaq and Durant..
I'd be okay taking a flyer on him if the price was low.In his combine interview he actually touched on this. He hates mixtapes, focuses on fundamentals.
Whomever lands him will have to be patient. If you think Vonleh is raw...
A 7 footer getting a three blocked sounds so crazy lol not that I'm doubting it.The Draft Express video with Maker's weaknesses illustrates it pretty clearly. On the highlight tapes he looks smooth making 3s ... on the full tapes he misses a lot of them badly, gets them blocked, etc. Lot of upside but will require a lot of work and a lot of patience.
I've seen a fair amount of mocks which have GP2 projected mid 2nd round. I feel like this guy should be a late first rounder... Does anyone else feel like GP2 slipping to the 2nd round is a steal for whoever nabs him, or do you think 2nd round pick is fair value?
Keep in mind you shouldn't necessarily base a star player on their teams success - Dame didn't even make the tournament at Weber St.
He reminds a young Garrnett when he came out of high school.I hate highlight tapes cause they deceive but Jesus Christ... Maker looks like an unholy mix of Shaq and Durant..
