How does an 18 year old have that many tattoos?

Anyway, holy shit this guy is rookie Durant skinny.

I sure with we could trade CJ to PHI and Vonleh to BOS for draft picks...

Simmons is a lock to go #1, IMO
If that video I just watched from one game is an accurate sample, it would take the next Shaq to change my mind.

I haven't seen any of them play, but Skal Labissierereieserseersse looks like Sam Bowie to me. Just from the one video in here also.

Had Bowie not had injuries, he would've been a good player.

He was a good player.

This kid looks good, his hook looked very reliable. He just doesn't look dominant or have the build to be dominant. That Simmons kid looks like a star.

All this is just from watching the videos in this thread.

I do agree with you. I think Simmons (or a SF/SG type) plays the position that is valuable for teams going forward.

Big men are important, but I'm not sure they'll be the ones leading teams to titles for a while.

If a Shaq or Wilt came along right now I wonder what it would be like to watch them against modern teams.

I guess it would depend on if Shaq got to butt bump people .

Haven't seen this kid play a minute before this video but he is the one. He shouldn't be in college right now.
Agree that he looks very polished and probably should be in the pros already. However, I didn't see a single shot from Ben Simmons outside of 4 feet from the basket. Now that is mostly the defenses fault but I would like to see what his mid-range game is like.

Simmons looks like a transcendent talent to me. That precedes the size argument.

If he couldn't shoot but can still get to the rim with ease I'd be ok with that.

Over summer Simmons attended the Nike Basketball Academy along with Harden, Davis, Durant, James. He guarded both Harden and Davis, and held his own. It's petty impressive that he can guard both a 6'5 SG, and a 6'10 PF/C.

Simmons played for the Australian Men's National Team a week after his 17th birthday.

So he has experience playing against grown men, and could easily be in the NBA right now.

His shooting is the weakest part of his game. But he can post up smaller players, and blow by bigger players. It will be interesting when he come up against quicker big players. Being a great and willing passer means that he can suck in the defence, and kick to shooters.

Not trying to throw shade on this guy. He is amazing, but this is his weaknesses:

Already discussing the draft and it's November? Wow. Plenty of reasons to be cheerful.

I simmed the lottery on there and we got a top three pick like 5 times out of 20, including the number one pick once. Assuming Sac town and New Orleans can pass us we'll be in good shape.

Link?

Sabonis tonight was 12-13 from the field with 26 pts and 7 rebounds, in just 19 minutes.

Tremendous game for Sabonis but like Ammo before him (totally different styles) I'm not sure how well that translates to the NBA.

The thing that scares me about Sabonis is that he just looks kind of "stiff" Not that he is or will be a stiff, just that he looks kind of limited on offense - the Blazers are littered with bigs with the same M.O.

I think Domantas is more NBA ready than many NBA 'project' players right now, including some on our team. He has already shown that he's shooting better midrange, he really didn't do it much last year, and my guess is that by the time he gets drafted he'll be verging on 3-pt range like the old man. Package that with the fact that he is a natural rebounder, tough as hell with a nose for the ball, has great footwork and basketball IQ, (no wonder) and I think he is going high in the draft and is most likely going to be a solid NBA player. I think he's sneaky quick, if there are concerns about quickness, because he actually knows where he needs to be. He really knows how to play, passing, post moves, setting screens, boxing out, and I'd be ecstatic if the Blazers landed him.

Lakers and Nets don't even have their pick this year? Haha, thats great.

That team has horribly mismanaged since Jerry West left town. Sure, they won a couple titles with Kobe and Pau, but that's because West gifted them Gasol and they still had Phil Jax on the sidelines. It has been all downhill from there. It's glorious.
