I say make them go for at least 2 years. To enter the draft, they have to get an associates degree.

I know he's not going to get drafted, but every time I watch Kentucky, I enjoy what I see out of Alex Poythress. I would love to see us being him in this summer as a UFA to compete for a spot as our third SF.
Incredible that he was looked at as a potential top 10 pick after his freshman year. People always give young guys shit for leaving early, when they're not ready I can't imagine why anyone would bother returning if you're set to be picked that high.

Who's your guys under the radar picks that you want to see the Blazers trade for? Mine are:
Taurean Prince - Late 1st / Perfect 3 and D prototype
Georges Niang - Mid 2nd / Small ball 4 with skill. Reminds me a bit of Draymond Green.

Another guy past 2016 but this kid has a nice stroke. Great turnaround jump shot too.

If Simmons has any type of work ethic at all, he will be phenomenal in the NBA. He reminds me of James Worthy with the way he finishes. A lot of his success though will be determined with who he plays with and who coaches him. For example you put him at SF with Westbrook, he would not be in any rookie of the year discussions. Without the ball in his hands and in a half court game, he will be "average" until he becomes a better outside shooter. But with a really good motion team, where his passing and finishing will be valuable, he will be great. He would fit so well with this Blazer team......

Ivan Rabb is the guy I want right now. Sounds like him and Dame have some history too. (Check the comments)

He just killed the beavs. Freshman standout Derrick Bruce had an OSU career high 25 points. 11 points was the previous best. Looking like he was pulling step back Lillard 3's

Never seen this Sabas pic. kinda cool

There are 2 boys! 2 more chances at a Sabonis!

Rabb should be pretty good. I am sure he will be a mid lottery pick. Still it is hard to really evaluate the college bigs because they don't face many opponents that are also big. Rabb does have skills though. I would take him over Poeltl. But still I see nothing that says he is better than Vonleh. Same standing reach, and Vonleh has a longer wing. Moot point because he won't be there for us.

Speaking of the pac 12 tournament......even though the Ducks held him in check yesterday, if Dejounte Murray Leaves early from Washington, I would take a chance on him.

Edit: Damn They have D Murray listed in the top 10 in some mocks. That seems high. I was thinking him as a sleeper.

As with many of these highly touted freshmen wings, it will all come down to their work ethic. If they develop a really good outside shot then they will have a chance to star. If they don't then they will just be average role players. Kind of hard to root for a team to tank to get these guys when they are not anywhere close to the finished product. Yet I still think Simmons is still awfully intriguing. But he has to be able to be reliable from deep if he is going to help a NBA team compete for a championship.
I do love his passing.

I'm not upset that we aren't the ones with the decision on Simmons at #1. I think people make him out to be a Lebron type lock at the 1, when in my mind that is not the case. I'd still say he's the #1 pick, but I'm not sure he's going to come out and dominate the league in a way that the team which drafts him is hoping. He does show potential to develop into one of the elite forwards in the league, but he will have to deal with the transition first.

Underwhelmed watching Brandon Ingram today. Not sure he is any better than Kyle Anderson. Nice player, but would this top lottery pick help make the Blazers a contender?

Once Ingram's body matures he will be a real problem. He has a lot of skill, just isn't strong enough to finish a lot of the time.

Sure he will be good, but will he be elite enough to warrant a top 2 pick. Is he worth tanking over? What happens when he is matched up with elite athletes. He does not look very explosive to me.

Jake Layman's skill set intrigues me. Seems like he checks a lot of the 3 and d boxes. Although their skill sets are a bit different, he's very parsons-esque, and could return similar value with an early 2nd rd. pick.

His tourney performance could very well push him into the 1st round though.

If we had a pick in the mid-first I'd target Ivica Zubac -- 7'1" | 265 lbs

I'm surprised that both mocks have him in this draft. IF he enters and stays, though 2017 is likely the earliest he enters, he could be this years Jokic. Very skilled big with soft touch. Rare Euro who plays bully-ball.

Fwiw - Sabas should be a lock to go top-10.

Without a pick but trading into the late first or early second shouldn't be that difficult.

1a/1b with Zubac as realistic targets. Kay entered the draft today:

24 ppg | 4 rpg | 9 apg | 35 3p%

Nbadraft.net moved Sabonis all the way up to #5

Some scouts believe that if Skal stayed one more year he would've likely slid out of the first round. Quite the fall from both DX and NBAdraft.net having Skal as their #1 prospect all of last year.

Blazers have no 1st or 2nd round pick this year. But it looks like they are still taking a look at some players -

At a near 7'1" (w/o shoes) and a 9'5.5" reach is Porzingis-like.

He's two years away from being two years away, as they say.

He could very well go undrafted unless a team takes a chance on him because he's a mobile 7'2" big.

I think Thon Maker has made a mistake by declaring for the draft. I don't think he's anywhere near ready for the NBA. I think he should have gone to college to improve his game.
