I wouldn't be against it but drafting a guy who plays 17 min per game in college seems risky.

The way their stocks are now we'll definitely have to trade up for Zach and Jarrett, John could be there at our own pick.

Diehard Zag fans don't think he came out of nowhere. But, yes, I would be surprised to see him stay. At least 2 of those 5 fouls tonight were totally bogus. Maybe 3.
 
yeah it is all about projecting how a player will be in 2-3 years. No doubt it is a gamble on all these freshmen.
 
Russell Westbrook if I remember right, never started in college. He was behind Collison and Afflalo.

The draft is about prognosticating how a guys skillset will carry over to the NBA.
 
If we want Karnowski, we can trade something for a late second rounder as he will be available until 45-50 at least (I actually think he will go undrafted). He would not be a bad third choice here.

With our picks we will have much better players available.

Looking at Draft Express they have us taking Zach Collins, Rodions Kurucs and Jawun Evans. We have Kurucs when Giles is still avaialble so I do not agree with that, and take Evans when Adebayo and Jeanne are available, although we do not need three bigs. NBADraft.net have Justin Jackson going 26 and DraftExpress have him 12 so I guess it will be hard to figure out who goes when.

I want all picks.

Justin Jackson, Jarrett Allen and Zach Collins would be absolutely tremendous but no idea how we'd make it work as all will go between 10 and 20. We will have #15, #20 and #26 if it stays like it is. At a push we might take Jackson and one of Collins/Allen at #15 and #20 and then have Giles fall to us at #26. Giles is one prospect I am particularly keen on, he was projected to go in top 3 when he was healthy, he can get back to that level.

One small forward prospect (Jackson, Bridges?), one power forward/center prospect (Collins, Allen etc.) and go for a backcourt rotation player (Ferguson, Evans, Kurucs?) or a rotation big (Giles, Patton, Adebayo, Leaf?) with the third pick. So excited about the draft! I actually think this could be a gamechanger for the organization, and it's great that nearly all of the top picks are backcourt players which we don't need and a lot of teams in the top 10 of draft do - that will make a lot of bigs and small forwards who'd normally be top 10 fall to 10-25 range.

Where is Sim Bhullar?

Not in the league because height and bball IQ don't mean squat if you aren't talented enough.

Karnowski got outplayed by Meeks on multiple occasions last night. This was a very Jakob Poetl- Domatas Sabonis moment in which we saw which of the two will be better. I called Poetl a bust after watching Sabonis grossly outplay him and his Utah team last year. I have the same feeling about Karnowski.

Thankfully I know Neil isn't dumb enough to waste a first round pick on this guy.

But karnowski is talented.

Here's Gortat on Karnowski;

FTW: When you’re with Team Poland, he’s your backup. And I’m sure you go against him in practice. But you don’t really see many guys that big in the NBA. He’s a 300-pounder. Is he a challenge for you?

Gortat: He’s a big, strong dude. It’s not like he’s out there standing and pretending. First of all, he’s a very skilled player. I can handle different things on the court, yes. With him being 300 pounds heavy, I can outrun him, I can outwork him. But at the end of the day, he’s very big and skilled. He’s definitely an NBA player talking about his skills and passing and shooting and ball stuff and knowing the game. His basketball IQ, he’s definitely an NBA player. He’s just got a big issue with his body. That’s going to be the question: Can he make the NBA because of his body?
 
But I definitely agree that karnowski is not a first rounder..
 
Isaiah Hartenstein with that elite size:

7'1.25 " w/shoes
7'2.25" wingspan
250 lbs (at 18 years old)
9'1" reach

If we can't land Z. Collins I'm all for Hartenstein! At only 18 he could very well top out at 7'2".

Except, Poetl was a projected lottery, possibly top 5 pick. Karnowski has never been projected to be in the 1st round.

Karnowski is a skilled big, with soft touch, but has massive limitations due mainly to not being able to jump over a phone book and is so slow. The NBA game will be too fast for him. If he's available at the end of the 2nd round, sure, why not.
 
Ike Anigbogu entered. He's a few years away but he has elite length and size. He's as built like a tank already - at only 18 years old.

He's definitely a guy to keep an eye on for the Memphis pick.
 
I'm ride or die Hartenstein. Can't wait to watch him tomorrow.

He's ready for the league physically. He's always been in shape.

And that shooting stroke looks good too. Repeatable mechanics. Looks the same every time. Good arc. Doesn't take three days to release cough you know who cough. I know he's been inconsistent with it, but there's no reason he can't develop into consistent threat from beyond the arc. He's only 18. Love his bball IQ and attitude. He's got a little Nurk in him in regards to those two.
 
Watching the hoop summit. Hartenstein was chilling beyond the arc, got the ball, and drove to the basket and made the shot. I literally said to myself "I wish Meyers could do that."

He's 18, playing essentially a high school game.

Meyers is in his 5th year in the NBA.

Kill me.
 
Mohamed Bamba is going to be insane in a couple years. Rim protector with a jump shot.

Watching the game close in person... His shot is ugly. Messy wrist action. 0-3 on FTs.
 
If we draft Hartenstein, I just hope he can get over the culture shock. :biglaugh:

How's his defense though? I haven't seen him play enough to know.
 
Not sure Hartenstein is ready/has the size to be a difference maker in the league. He didn't look terrible in the motion of the game tonight but he was far from dominant. I don't think it is worth it for us based off where I have seen him projected.

At this point my preference is definitely moving up with our first two picks and trying to land a sleeper with the CLE pick.

Not so sure about this. He absolutely raked Sexton across the face going for a rebound he never should have been trying to get.
