Jonathan Smith has a really good (for OSU) recruiting class coming in next year and he's only in his first year so I'm not really sure why this comment is here.
I think Jonathan Smith will have OSU in a bowl next year. Maybe not super exciting for OSU fans but I think he was a good hire.

Herbert. On top of being over-rated, he is made out of glass. First round NFL pick my wrinkly butt!

The #1 pick talk is purely because of his measureables in my opinion. He’s never struck me as an amazing qb. He’s good, but he is not very accurate down field. I know I wouldnt want my favorite teams spending a 1st rounder on him. All that said, who knows, he could have an amazing NFL career he could be the next Peterman who knows.

Kinda hope the Cougs win. It'd be cool ti see them in the playoffs somehow.
Id kind of rather see them play Oklahoma somehow 1st to 50 wins. I think if they made it into the playoffs it'd be as the 4 and they'd be playing bama and I think that would not be pretty...

You know I think its time that OSU's board thinks about moving the beavers to the Mountain West. It would be a whole lot better for that football program to move form the Pac 12. Its time.
When is the last time the Ducks have won a national championship??? Beavs won one this year.

This post is exactly why Ducks fans can eat a big fat dick.

Beavs have blown up the football program with mixed results since Mike Riley went to Nebraska. Money doesn't keep them from ruling college baseball though.

How Dare you! Turn in your Huskie fan card at the next social gathering!
I don't hate the Cougars. I don't view them as rivals. It'd be cool to see them in the playoffs representing the state of Washington. The Huskies have underachieved and been a huge disappointment this season, so I feel no pride for them right now.

It's seldom about money. It's usually about coaching. Dennis Erickson did just fine. The money excuse is sad.

I don't disagree that the Huskies have underachieved, you are so right, but I could NEVER bring myself to root for the Cougars. UGH.

My grandfathers a fan of them. I hate the Ducks, and that's enough for me.

Okay. I have an Aunt who is a Ducks fan and another Aunt who is a Beavers fan so I understand where you are coming from.

28-15 Washington, so glad I don't have to hear about how great WSU is anymore such an annoying team.

But what does a bowl appearance matter?

:tongue2:
Not a whole lot, my point was just that I think he'll have the program respectable soon. I think he was a very good hire for them.

You can say what you want but I stand by the a lot of the bowl games don't mean anything. EVEN the players don't care in a lot of cases. Last year Royce Freeman was in street clothes on the sideline cheering his team on. Yeah know why, because there was 0 reason for him to play in that game. Sure maybe saying I don't care if my team wins or not is going a bit far, but CFB has a lot of problems and until they have a real playoff it's kind of a scam of a sport. Every year no matter how the bowls go, no matter how OOC goes they over rate everyone in the SEC because MONEY. If you're in the SEC and you lose it's because you played such a great team, if you win oh my you beat such an amazing team. Never mind how many losses they do or don't have their just great because they have the best TV contracts. Bama goes to the playoffs no matter what they do. I really like the Ducks, but it is really hard for me at this point to get too invested in a sport where you basically have to be perfect to have a shot because the people who have a vote are all in the pockets of Disney/ABC/ESPN and they have an interest in who's going to get the most clicks, views, etc instead of who the best teams are. You can be perfect like UCF and still not have a shot, They've won 24 straight and they have beat Auburn (from the mighty SEC) in there but there isn't a chance in the world they're putting them in the playoffs.

I think college basketball and football have so much potential to be awesome. It just really takes away from it for me how greedy the NCAA is, ESPECIALLY when you consider how much crap they spew about keeping it "Amateur".

I'm pretty sure that doesn't include the 3 or 4 stud transfers we got during the season. One is a 4 star QB.
No that does not include Tristan Gebbia or Avery Roberts and with them and the freshman Jermar Jefferson they should be very fun to watch in the coming years. But lets get honest here. You have to continue to recruit and it takes beef up front to win big. I am OSU Alumni so i am one of the biggest OSU fans out there so i'm hoping they do very well and can convince some players to come their way. You get beef from the mid west and south. The last time they had any luck in doing that was with Dennis Erickson. There are also some good prospects in California. Maybe the fires will convince a few to come north? Chip is busy down there and he seems to be recruiting pretty well from Cali. But of course Oregon seems to be doing the best at this time.

Watching a team rebuild its program can be just as fun as watching a perennial winner. It just depends on perspective and the gains going forward.

I personally think Jonathan Smith and OSU's recruiting plan will recoup nice results over the next 3 to 4 years.

I cant pin point it, but I really like the impression I have gotten from Jonathan Smith. Just think he’s a really solid guy, that will be a solid coach for the beavers.

Im just saying in football Id much rather see them compete in a league where they can stand a chance to be competitive each year.
