I haven't been able to find enough game film on him to decide for sure.

His athletic profile is amazing. It appears he has significantly improved his game over the last 3 years. He has a high TS%, but other metrics are a bit disappointing for an NBA talent.

I thought he looked good in the combine scrimmage....
His shooting motion won't translate, and he's not quick enough to take guys off the dribble. I've read that he has serious character concerns as well.

I watched him live in the first 2 NCAA tournament games.

I wasn't impressed with him. He has a good shot, but has lead feet.

Not quick enough on either end to be a SF.... and maybe not even quick enough to be a PF.

Besides hitting a few catch & shoot shots, he didn't really jump out as an NBA talent.
He's quicker than Swanigan and has a redeemable skill.

Please give me feedback on the pace of this. I designed it so it wouldn't last forever but there's a ton of information, so I was thinking viewers could pause where they wanted to read on about something. Is that a good system, or should I drag the video out so you guys can read without pausing? Let me know!

Not really. Was it the playoff game that went into overtime in '77 ? That Chicago series was tough. We almost didn't get out of the first round. The rest is history.

I too listened to that-don't remember it being a playoff game, but it was mostly Hollins-a quick shot, a steal on their in bounds play another bucket and foul shot-then if I remember-another steal and shot as time ran out-almost drove off the road!

That's pretty much it. Two steals, one on the in bounds. All in about 7 seconds or something crazy like that.

Rodions Kurucs with elite size:

6'10" w/shoes -- 8'11" reach(!)

Kurucs is kind of like Collins where he’s a very skilled player with a high bball IQ that just needs to physically mature. Once he does, he’s got a chance to be a really good player.

I agree.

However, if we were to go this route, and with Okobo out of our reach, I'd select Musa.

Musa could step in right away and score.

Kurucs would be an excellent pickup in the second round though.

Yeah Musa is who I’m hoping falls. Got to watch him play with Bosnia couple summers go (with Nurk) and he would be a great fit in Portland’s system. Many think he’s not ready for the league but I think he will play from the jump.

Trying to move up but for someone who can contribute sooner rather than later. I think there could be some players involved in the shuffling.

Is this purely a guess or is it based on something real?

I hope so. We need to change the starting 5 in order to change the flow of our offense. I can't watch another year of hero ball mixed in with occasional PNR. (But I'm guessing I will be.)

I would go all in on Doncic at any cost but Dame/Collins/Nurk. Like it or hate, I get it. I love his style and creativity/flow/bbiq and think he would fit with Dame and Nurkic perfectly. I absolutely believe he will be an instant star in the league.

Sometimes you have to take a chance.

If true, all my money on it being for Porter Jr. need + agent.

But it also could just mean someone in the teens since we don’t really have the assets to move that high unless we trade CJ.

A lot of speculation pieced together by several different tidbits. The most grandiose would be a big move up to Orlando's pick and then swapping that out for say the Clipppers two picks at #12 and #13 depending on who is available at #6. The Blazers are more than one piece away so I kind of like the trading up to trade down to get more assets approach which is more like the NFL. Here, it can be just one player that hits that can really catapult a franchise.

Otto Porter was almost a consensus #1 pick before he got hurt.

Tough to complain about him as our pick if we moved up. I don't know enough about his injury history to be scared away though.

Late in the draft I have a strange attraction to Kevin Huerter from Maryland. I like his IQ and potential (ha!) as a sharp shooter with ridiculous range.

I had a similar thought with 12 and 13. Even if you reached a bit on a player like Hutchison and Okobo. (just for example) If that's the targets..do it.

IF....you were able to parlay players/picks into the the #6 to get to #12 and #13, it would have to involved CJ. If he was gone, PG/SG 6'6" Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (one of the better names in the Draft) might be a good choice. He has a 7' wingspan to go with a 36" vertical all while being able to play some PG. That would team nicely with Dame. He needs to put on some weight/strength as do most 19 year olds coming into the NBA.

If I could somehow pull SGA and Mikel Bridges (ridiculous 3-pt shooter with hops who I don't think falls that far) with the 12/13, that would go a long way to providing some skills at the 2/3 position and also balance out the roster a bit better in the long run.

Musa is a tough one for me to evaluate.

Aggressive scorer with good pnr instincts. That hard lefty drive is overwhelming for a lot of euros. Gets low and has pretty rangy and powerful strides going that direction. Uses his body well around the basket and can finish with both hands. Plays with energy on both ends.

Needs to improve as a shooter and getting more comfortable playing w/o the ball. Has some passing instincts but definitely a score first guy. Decision making comes and goes. How much of his game translates? Can be predictable w/ the hesi strong left hand drive. Doesn't have much of a mid range game and isn't a great shooter off the dribble so does that close down his driving lanes? And if teams decide to switch to take a away his pnr game, will he be able to beat athletic nba bigs 1 v 1?

His demeanor on the court kinda worries me well. Gets very frustrated when things aren't going his way. Bad body language if he doesn't get the ball when he feels he's open.

How adaptable is he if his game doesn't work / role changes? Is he guy that will shrink when things become harder for him?

I would think that Mikal would go earlier but what do I know. He would be a win in my eyes. I need to take a look at Shai several on here have mentioned him.

I also think this draft is better and deeper than most think. Then again I get hyped when the draft comes around and want every under dog available.
