During this past WS I mostly score checked but did catch Reddick in an interview stating "we're the Houston Astros, we won 107 games yada, yada, yada. Hinch is a smug individual IMO so when Washington won I figure justice was served. When this sign stealing business first came up I thought it could be sour grapes. The deeper they dig the more they are finding and if it sticks well fuck you Houston and some heads should roll.
 
Matt Blake is the new Yankee pitching coach.......anybody know who this guy is?

He is 34 years old & last worked with the Cleveland Indians’ pitching staff.
Now, if the Yankee GM can get 5 able bodies to start on the Yankees!
 
Garcia is a good young pitcher but I'm always concerned how NL pitchers translate to the AL...also, although I'm luke warm on Frazier and it would be nice to see Happ go, there's no way I would give Garcia as part of that package.
 
Looks like Cole is going to look to pitch out West. No surprise there to be honest. Strasburg becomes a must now.
 
The Yankees will sit down with Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg over the Next 2 Days as per MLB Network.

I think of the 2 mess, I see yanks having better shot at Cole. I see Strasberg going back to Washington
 
...the Yanx have already swung and missed twice on landing Cole...unless Cole has already decided that he will only pitch for a west coast team I don't see the Yanx swinging and missing and striking out on Cole a third time.
Now it is possible that Cole and Boras are only using the Yanx as leverage to get the maximum contract from a west coast team.

Report: Gerrit Cole Told Yankees There's 'No West Coast Bias' amid LA Rumors


Fear not, New York Yankees fans. Free-agent pitcher Gerrit Cole reportedly insisted he has "no West Coast bias" while he was meeting with the Bronx Bombers.
Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported the news Wednesday, noting the meeting last four-plus hours. Heyman pointed out the Yankees "have been worried" that the California native would rather play in Los Angeles than New York.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported general manager Brian Cashman, manager Aaron Boone and pitching coach Matt Blake met with Cole on Tuesday.
"And this year the price tag did not scare the Yankees from taking to the road because they know Cole will receive the largest pitching contract ever, likely topping $250 million," Sherman wrote while pointing out the Yankees have been after the powerful right-hander since they drafted him in 2008.

If Boras and Cole are holding out for $300 Mil, my answer would be "NO".

Maybe 7/$250 Mil to satisfy his ego and make him the highest paid. Otherwise, look elsewhere because the Yanx also need to consider future payrolls/salaries. I'm also thinking that Cole will tend to decline after 4-5 years. IMO, the Yanx need so somehow shed themselves of Stanton and his contact...he's a one dimensional player who is still under contract for SEVEN more years. Cashman should have never made that trade.

Yep, anything more than that is robbery, (years and $$$). Ntm- he's got to stay healthy to justify this kind of $$$.
Although, I'd not blink over a 7 yr 252 Mil $$; 36 Million per year contract.

I also believe he wants more than 7 yrs. I wouldn't be shocked if Trashman offers him an 8 yr 288 Mil $$ contract at 36 Mil per year. Imo- Trashman is desperate!!

I'd also not be shocked if the Angels offer him a 10-year deal at 400 million.

I'd give my nuts to see Stanton traded, along with Happ. Tho' I don't think any team wants Happ, and Trashman gonna have to eat a good portion of GianKarlo's contract. Which is more than fine with me!!

I would think that the Angels learned their lesson about players with excessively long contracts with Pujols...but who knows.

Gotta believe that Cashman can somehow package Happ and maybe others to get rid of him. And the problem with Stanton is not only his contract but the fact that he has a NTC.

I think giving Cole more than 7 years would be a mistake...like I said, he'll likely start declining in 4-5 years meaning the final years of a longer contract will be another albatross for the Yanx.

I totally agree on all counts.

I was going to mention the Hamilton and Pujols contracts in addition with Trout's big deal. Imo- no one is worth that kind of money and if anyone is; it would be Trout.

That being said, I don't think Moreno is capable of learning MLB Economics 101, from past mistakes. Ntm, Pujols has been mediocre at best for several yrs now. Albert has 2yrs left on his contract
