Her (and Dennis Kucinich's) interest in Assad feels a bit like Dana Rohrbacher's and Trump's interest in Putin. Maybe innocent, but it bears watching.

Gabbard’s office said her visit was approved by the House ethics committee

this is a quote from the guardian article sited

Initially I hadn’t planned on meeting him,” Gabbard told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “When the opportunity arose to meet with him, I did so, because I felt it’s important that if we profess to truly care about the Syrian people, about their suffering, then we’ve got to be able to meet with anyone that we need to if there is a possibility that we could achieve peace. And that’s exactly what we talked about.”

he has been dead for 6 years now. he and ted stevens were quite the dynamic duo in their day, even though they were from different sides of the aisle.
I remember when he died. Distinguished in WWII, Medal of Honor recipient while serving with the highest decorated unit in WWII, the 442. A true American hero.
On the other hand we have an individual who should have received a medal for valor for dodging VD disease during the Vietnam war and playing golf despite having crippled feet.

Is she pro-Assad?
Or just not interested in forcing another regime change?

Anyone that gases women and children needs to be permanently "regime changed."

Preferably by a nice cruise missile taking out him and his entire family.

very quiet and truly humble man in my recollections. i think that he was still unfulfilled by his failure to get native hawaiians the same recognition and sovereignty allotted other native american tribal nations through congress.

You guys have had some great Federal legislators. A great example is Senator Inouye.
imho, the states demographics contribute to this. currently they stand at approx
40% asian
25% caucasian
24% mixed race 2 or more
10% native/polenisian/pacific islander
2% black

the culture of respect is seen and heard daily, old/young, men/women, family/stranger. it is called "living aloha". it is real. it requires accommodation and compromise. patients, talk story to understand others. it requires an investment of ones own time in that of others. it is very much worth it.

edit: almost forgot (stage whisper....and the women run Everything!)

i strongly recommend that you read her own words published as an op-ed in the honolulu star-advetiser.

Thanks. I'm no fan of endless wars myself.
However, she took a trip to Syria organized and paid for by a pro-Assad organization. If she didn't intend to meet Assad, that at best suggests she's naive.
Basically, she's repeating pro-Assad propaganda and believing or pretending it's an objective viewpoint.
Maybe all the rebels are in fact terrorists. There probably is some truth to that. But so is Assad - and she didn't have anything negative to say about him.

Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday demanded that Syrian President Bashar Assad be "executed" if it is confirmed he ordered the deadly chemical attack earlier this week that killed dozens of Syrian civilians, according to a report.

The Hawaiian lawmaker, who met with Assad earlier this year, made that statement on the same day President Trump authorized a missile strike against the airbase from which the chemical attack is believed to have originated, according to Hawaii News Now.

Ok, I guess that qualifies :)
I withdraw my complaint.

Do you think most of the Polynesians look like Jeff Chandler?

Beautifully stated!
We could use some of the Living Aloha Spirt here on the mainland!

Then we own the resulting fucking chaos by default.
If you are going to take on that sort of mess then you must justify it, including the cost of those that will die doing the deed.

I find no reason to spend men to fix Syria even when I agree with your feeling. Assad, maybe despicable, so was Hussein in Iraq, but not worse than Isis. Same with the dude we took out in Libya, despicable bastard but better than the animals that killed the Ambassador there.

I prefer Trump's logic here, Assad fights Isis there, so why should we fight him? Damn sure time to shuffle to the side when you notice your enemies killing each other. Much better to facilitate this activity than aid the one that is no friend. Despicable or not.

He hasn’t declared yet but he keeps traveling to Iowa and spending millions on adds. He’s a giant boogie man to the right. I don’t know that much about him aside from he’s a billionaire and was a hedge fund manager for decades. His primary point as far as I can tell is a push to impeach Trump.

Yeah, somehow I got I that MFs email list. I wouldn't vote for him. He's a corporatist.

There will be no Republican Primary. Just John Kasich orating to the janitor in an empty hall.

Trump has 6 years left and is frankly the strongest on the world stage, most successful at building the economy at home, most freedom-restoring for the average American citizen, biggest hand-up to minorities and immigrants of any President since Ike.

You believe the same fake media that lied to you in exactly the same way 2 years ago.

As my old friend tom Peterson says...

I'm curious to know what instrument you play in the band?

But really though:

Electric cars don't pay gas taxes. They need to pay for the roads too.
When electric cars don't pay for roads you can think of it as internal combustion cars paying an extra gas tax and you can think of the extra gas tax as a tax on polluting the air. Now, all we have to do is switch our electricity generation from dirty forms such as coal fired plants and even natural gas fired generating plants to clean forms of electric power generation such as wind and solar. I see where Scotland is even using tidal power to generate electricity.

Don't they save the planet through less global warming tho? So its break even bro.
This would be true if the power was generated using clean forms of energy production. However, at the current time, most electric power is still generated by burning coal. Then, there is the issue of losing some power by lossy transmission lines which means that even more power must be generated at the source. Nope, the only way is to introduce clean energy production.

I'm going to heartedly endorse the production of clean energy.

...went into a bar...:drumroll:
So, this guy goes into a bar with his dog. He walks up to the bartender and says that his dog can speak and if he shows his dog can talk, could he please have a free beer. The bartender says okay. The bartender says to the dog "What do you call the skin of a tree?" and the dog says, "bark, bark" The bartender then says "What does sandpaper feel like?" and the dog says "ruff, ruff". Finally the bartender says "Who is the greatest baseball player of all time?" and the dog says "roof, roof". The bartender tells the man to get the hell out of his bar and take your phony dog with you. As the man and the dog exit the bar the dog turns to the man and says "DiMaggio?"

Ok, I will risk it. What is a corporatist?
Or what is the sin?

corporatism
noun
cor·po·rat·ism | \ˈkȯr-p(ə-)rə-ˌti-zəm \
Definition of corporatism

: the organization of a society into industrial and professional corporations serving as organs of political representation and exercising control over persons and activities within their jurisdiction

Bush said his biggest regret was NOT privatizing social security.

she was here in kailua kona in november and i am close with several vietnam vets that attended this event, all staunch republicans and solid supporters of the president. my friend big john got my attention when he said that following the veterans day/centennial armistice day event, that she was someone he could get behind and that he wished more politicians were like minded about the country.

I'm a Vietnam Vet and when it comes to Trump I want to place my best foot forward . . . straight into Trump's ass sending him flying out the door.
