Remind me again, what the heck does red font mean?

Are you one of "THOSE" Republicans? ;)
That's my "devil's advocate" font. I don't necessarily agree with anything I just typed, but I think it's an interesting discussion point.

I'm old. I need a font color code chart.

Explain to me why you, that lives in Wyoming (based on your profile) - is 3 times more important than me in California when we vote for the president and 57 times more important when we vote for the senate? (For the record, my next door neighbor is a Republican and I know for a fact voted for Trump, the idea that we all need to vote by geographic location is absurd).

Also, allow me to remind you that California produces 13% of the agricultural product of the US - it's not like California is all urban places with no input on rural issues. For the record - there are 3 times as many people living in rural California than Wyoming.

Anyway you slice it - the electoral college is discriminatory - and is basically making a mockery of the idea of a united and equal country.
I don’t think the electoral college is perfect by any means, but people with less representation need to be heard. You are kind of claiming a victims stance by saying you are discriminated against because your vote is worth less, when in reality you are part of a powerful constituency that possesses more power than many states combined.
Assuming we were a one world government, would people in China have more of a right to say what’s best for the rest of the world, because there are more people there? Are the best interests of China the same as those in Greenland or Australia? That may be a generalized example but the United States is not a small place and there are vastly different wants and needs across the landscape.

I do not want to be defined by the state or geographical location I choose to reside in. I want to have the same weight for my vote as anyone else in the country. Simple as that. The same is true for my Republican neighbor or the Democrat that might live across the street from you.

The reality is that your vote is worth more than mine. That's not right, just as I would not want my vote to be worth more than your vote - when we vote on country-wide leadership. I have no vote in the governor race to your state and I will continue not to have it (local). But when we discuss national matters because we are part of the union - our vote should be the worth the same.

I do not think that pointing the actual truth of the matter means that I am playing a victim card. My vote is under-represented compared to yours. It's a fact.

That could be easily turned around by making the claim that popular vote is discrimination and misrepresentation of people in rural areas.
Are you favoring rule by minority?

We need a National Initiative (nationwide ballot measures) more than we need to eliminate the Electoral College.
I'm going to disagree with you on a technicality. The initiative is the more probable solution but the Constitutional change going from the Electoral College to a popular vote is the more direct solution.

How? Any one of them gets exactly the same vote as someone from a populated area. How is that discriminatory? Explain to me how the electoral vote does not discriminate against the republican in California whose vote does not count or the Democrat in Alaska whose vote does not count.

One person, one vote. Nothing is more equal than that.

Right now, the the system basically says that people in rural areas are more important than people from urban areas. That's discrimination.

This country was founded on two principals - end taxation without representation and all men are created equal. It's ironic that the 'conservatives' that always go back to the founding fathers are so against these basic principles.

Exactly and the way all of the other positions are filled state wide and nationally. Governors, senators, house reps etc are all elected by the popular vote. President is the only one that is elected by an electoral college. I agree 1 person, 1 vote.

The lack of insight in this post is astonishing.

I haven't been paying all that much attention, but is Biden pretty much out of it now? (realistically speaking...)

I would ask how you expect to get 3/4 of the states to ratify this, but don't imagine you have a clue.

out of what? You can easily do a search rather than expect others to do your research. I suggest you give it a shot, but I suspect what you will find isn't even remotely close to what you posted. :bgrin:

Out of his fucking mind? Yes.
Out of the race. No, he’ll probably win. Especially if the DNC plays their usual games.

Is parking a boat in an area that caused a sailboat to stick several feet out of water and balanced on the keel considered a lack of insight

Probably not. But the design is exceptionally insightful.

I think he's about a dozen points ahead of Trump. If Biden is no longer in the picture what does that say about Trump? Ouch.

Well, Trump had no chance of beating Hillary up until the final hour, so what does that say? You tell me.

It says that either the Democrats will have to gain more than 3 Million more votes than Trum or hope for a better distribution of votes among the purple states.
Hillary had less than a 6 point lead over Trump not the 12 point lead that Biden has. Also, several things had to have some extraordinary luck for Trump to win in the Electoral College.

Chances of Trump winning again? Less than minuscule.

But you hang on to that dream. Just don't say I didn't warn you.

Don’t be so sure of that, Lanny. It’s closer than you think because of that pesky Electoral College thingie.

Good. You have nothing to worry about, then. ;)

Yes, I thought I've been conveying that clearly for quite some time. Surprised that you are just now realizing this.

The winky trumps. No pun intended.
