I have never seen a trade idea get posted without someone or multiple someones saying it wouldn't happen. And yet........ a lot of trades happen where I'm left thinking "what an awful trade for that team."

So if horrible trades happen, why is it that we as fans immediately think "that's impossible."

The James Harden to Houston trade was a joke. Completely horrible and I can guarantee that if you posted that trade idea in their forum before it happened, people would have laughed at you.

Would you guys do this trade?
I don't know about trading all of that for KAT at C and Melo at PF but that problem could be rectified with the MLE in the off season. The only way I would do this if I'm the GM of our team is if I'm hellbent on losing Gary and keeping CJ... which is very possibly what Neil is thinking.

I would much rather get KAT by trading CJ to the Knick, us trading Nurk to the Wolves and the Knicks trading Randle to the Wolves. I think the Wolves might like that deal better too because with all of their young guards I don't see Gary being that attractive to them but they could use an upgrade like Randle at PF. As I've been saying we might also get Rivers in a CJ for Randle deal. So there's that too. Nobody needs to get their calculators out, this deal works on all trade checkers.

No, especially in a pandemic year. Towns doesn't play defense, at all.

As far as this goes I don't think you get the blocks, steals and rebounds that KAT does without playing any "defense, at all." Nurk is the better defender but KAT is a better defender than Enes and that's who we've been winning with.

Bottom line is that I wouldn't trade Gary, DJ, Nurk and Zach's injured ass for CJ and KAT. In my eyes it's the idea that instead of getting CJ and Nurk back, we get KAT to go with the team we're playing right now. That sounds great to me.

From the article:

Make it Tucker for Hood, and I'm interested. Otherwise, I'm not.
1. Sure, any Blazer fan would love that, but I can't see the Rockets going for it.
2. This is one sure way to get more minutes for Nas.
3. Jones hasn't really contributed much beyond a couple of nice highlights.

Houston would die for this deal. I'm not sure why in the world we would want it but Houston sure would.

Tucker is eleven years older than DJ and is playing like it. Over the last ten games Tucker isn't shooting the three close to as well as DJ. He never is as effective as DJ is from the field overall and he is no longer the force he once was on D. In fact it's a pretty easy call that DJ is the better defender at this point. I don't like this trade at all and think it would be based on what each guy has done previous to this season, instead of what they're now doing and capable of doing in the future. Especially the way both players are trending.

Like I said, I'm not interested. That doesn't mean there aren't those that are.
But, trading a zero&D player for another zero&D player, one should take the one with lots of upside, not the one that almost out of the league... and it's not close, imho.

No, No, No! PJ Tucker has a Per of 5. Never trade young for old.
You mean "never trade young for old of comparable ability".
If PJ Tucker really is washed up, you don't want to trade him (although it still might be worth it just to get out of paying Jones Jr. next year - I never did understand that signing), but Batum looked washed up until he went to a better place for him.

Is it possible to have "upside" your entire career without actually being good?

Not that I expect anyone to be interested, but I bet Ricky Rubio is available now that the Wolves have fired Ryan Saunders, given that he's the reason Rubio went back there. (Well, that and the $$$.)

Dunno what "PIPM" is, but Rubio's the best at it on the Timberwolves...

PIPM is another version of adjusted plus-minus. Various people have made their own adjustments to plus-minus...I think PIPM also folds in some box score information. There may be some other factors too, but I'm not an expert on all the plus/minus metrics running around.

But why..... what would be the reason?

He's too expensive to be a backup and you want to trade away one of our only good defenders at a position of need.

I guess Morey really wants to deal, so let's give it another try:
Is CJ almost healthy? CJ and Kanter for Harris, Maxey, Thybulle and Howard.

Backup PG wise the #1 target should be Delon Wright. Ideal backup who is shooting 38% from three, averaging 11/5/5.

Any ideas?

Kristaps available.
If they wanted to trade KP then I would do this deal... I don't know if they would but I think that CJ and Nurk would be very good fits with Luka.

Thats probably to much for him, but I like this trade. I could have to teams to follow.

Dafuq. Thats a horrible idea. Makes us unequivocally worse
I don't think so. We add a legit backup PG. We add a great defensive stopper to bring off of the bench who may or may not be able to shoot the open three and we get Porzingis who can get his own shot, would be amazing with Dame in the pick and roll/pop, and is more active defensively than Nurk. Right now I am thinking in terms of what would these three guys add to the team that we've been putting out there for the last 18 games as apposed to what CJ and Nurk returning would do. I think these three guys would add more.

KP’s defense makes Kanter look like Myles Turner.

It’s that bad. Is it the injury history or is it psychological?

Either way, his value is at an all-time low and in no way worth CJ.

Worth CJ AND Nurk apparently. jesus

porzingis is nearly unplayable in the playoffs. that's a horrible deal. put down the pipe.

Kristaps unfollowed the Mavs on IG/Twitter

Nurk for KP

Even with his defense taking a huge step backwards, this is an even trade considering their injury history/concerns.
