Game Thread 2022-23 Game #2 - BLAZERS VS SUNS - OCTOBER 21, 2022 - FRIDAY - 7:00 PM (PDT) ROOT

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

With Sharpe and Nas needing minutes, Dame and Ant starting, GPII coming back, combined with the fact that Hart will likely be making $20m/yr with the way he’s playing, how would we possibly be able to keep him?

If the Bulls feel like they got a real shot and offer PatWill and our 1st back as a starting offer for Hart, would that deal too good to pass up for you?
Hart is too good not to keep.

WHOSE expectations!?! Nutjobs on HERE that expected 60 wins a season, please bro!
I ain’t even been here that long dude LOL. I’m just talking about the media’s expectations. I specifically remember what I was thinking every year since Aldridge left.

2015-16: I really wanted to be bad enough to get Ben Simmons, they ended up making the 2nd round.

2016-17: They ended up being 41-41 when it’s fair to say at the very least that they were expected to at least be better than the year before.

2017-18: I won’t lie I don’t remember what my expectation or the media’s expectation of this year was, but it was overshadowed by the fact that we severely underachieved in the playoffs getting swept. The consensus even among the media is that we would win that series, and we got swept.

2018-19: I expected us to beat OKC, but the media had us losing because we were swept in the season series. An overachievement.

Then outside of the Nuggets-loss year, I guess you could say we overachieved, but that’s still a mixed bag. I’d say overachieving anytime after the WFC year did us a disservice, we should’ve pulled the plug on that team sooner than we did.

Yeah @THE HCP . Why are you not totally changing your belief about the team after they've played 2.4% of the season. That's a pretty big sample size. Utah Jazz are 2-0, they are the title favorites!
Jazz are 2-0 cuz they’ve played shit teams like Minnesota.

Hart is too good not to keep.
Tough call for me. It would really speak to the culture if he and the organization have an agreement that he signs for a team-friendly deal. Of course if he did that, my mind would change completely. But until there’s news of that, I’m still in the “trade him while his value is high” camp.

Nice post.

Wes had a chest high dribble and wasn't great at finishing at the rim or fast breaks.....Josh is one of the best in the league at finishing at the rim. Transition buckets is something we haven't seen in ages in Portland...this team like to get out and run

Easy baskets have been a problem that has plagued Portland for years. When teams clamped down in 4th qtr we only had one guy who could get to the rim Dame. Now we have multiple guys and it shows by how many free throws we are getting. 3’s are great but crunch time free throws and few easy baskets are usually what wins games

This team kind of reminds me of A’s. Money ball team. Bunch of guys who just know roles, play hard and have high Bball IQ’s

Trade him while he's one of the most consistent/the most consistent players on the team and one of the best players on the team?

Why should Josh Hart sign a team-friendly deal? Did Dame and Ant sign team-friendly deals?
Hart is working his ass off and playing as well or possibly better than anyone on the team.
Nassir Little signed a team-friendly deal. Hart is not Nassir Little.

This is once again wrong. Terry played CJ in 38 of the 46 he was available for in his rookie year and CJ averaged 12.5 MPG that year.

When Terry had promising rookies that deserved playing time, they got it. It is just that since Dame and CJ, Portland's rookies were mostly not deserving of play time. (BTW, Meyers had played 69 games and averaged 17.5 MPG his rookie year, he regressed once the big man coach was removed, but he played as a rookie as well).

What rookies did you expect Terry to play? Swanigan? A very green Simons on a team that went to the WCF? Little who is always in and out of the lineup because he is injured? For the record, Little did play in 48 games as a rookie and averaged 12 MPG - so again, this is a myth that Terry did not play rookies. He played the ones that were deserving and available.

Chauncy told you exactly why he is playing "we lost a lot of games to get Sharpe". It is obvious he will play and just like Dame and CJ and Meyers played when they they deserved for Terry, Sharpe will play now and I assure you that if this team was still being coached by Terry, he would have played under him as well.

Except he was freely playing Mario Hezonja and Tolliver in front of Nassir Little which is absolute nonsense. He also had Wenyen Gabriel who was a good defensive player. Olshey catered to Stotts wanting shooters after getting him Harkless and Aminu. That's on Terry.

That’s a good question that I don’t have a good answer for. That’s why I’m in the trade him camp. And obviously I didn’t mean trade him now. You don’t prove you’re worth $20m/yr through two games.

literally no one said that. the average win prediction here with 25 predictions was 41.7 wins.

but keep beating that drum
And keep thinking that. Did you not read every thread on here after summer league? I predicted 39 wins this summer and got murdered. Of course everybody’s win predictions drastically lowered after they saw the shit show of preseason.
