Sure but he needs to step up when we lose Dame, Grant etc.
I agree, but I don't know whether this is a decision by Hart, Chauncey or a combination of both. It's just odd and it keeps getting more odd.

No, they weren't. Batum was guarding him, they'd rub Batum off on someone and get the switch and Ant would just wait out there for Batum to come back and double.
What would you suggest him do? The Clippers were packing the paint with the other 4 guys. Ant was able to get to the rim twice at the end and encountered 3 guys in the paint and got his shot blocked.

I've seem Dame games where he drives to the rim on every possession with 4 guys in the paint and usually in a losing effort. You have to realize you can't just simply "drive" to the rim and get to the line on every possession. Those last two possession Ant actually broke down his defender but there were 3 other players waiting for him there because none of those guys cared about guarding their man. Those are not going to be high quality possessions, even for someone like Giannis, let alone Simons.

Absolutely. Dame's done that stuff more with this team and it's been noticeable because he doesn't need to. He doesn't need to try to split doubles with the dribble at the top of the key as much as he does. It's hyperbolic, though, to say because that happens to him sometimes that it isn't sometimes necessary to do those things. Ant has the floater Dame lacks. Ant has the vertical Dame lacks. If Ant's driving with purpose instead of hesitating, I like Ant's chances to get a reasonable scoring opportunity on plays like this, especially when they alternatives are 3-pointers by Justise Winslow.

Are we going in circles? I answered this a few minutes ago. I've literally explained exactly what he should/could do. I'm not going to keep doing it ... please read the thread.

I really don't get your argumentativeness on this. Cronin's not going to fire Chauncey and hire you, so accept that other people have differing opinions. This isn't a fight to the death to see who's right. Besides, if it was, I'd have already won. :-)

I'm in agreement that Dame has done some amazing crap with some marginal players on the court.

The knock shouldn't be the Dame/Ant can or can't do it, but that these guys shouldn't be in that position to have to do it. We should always be able to have 3 shooters on the court!

I know. I think we were kind of screwed by the personnel available. Hart SHOULD be a capable scoring option there but won't shoot. I would have played Sharpe over Watford simply because Sharpe CAN create good scoring opportunities more readily than Watford even if he's in a slump. Plus, he defends well.

My feeling is this game really wasn't lost at the end. It was lost in the third quarter when we had a chance to step on the Clippers' throats and we started settling for lower-percentage shots and playing lackadaisical defense thinking the game was over.

Grant staying on the court, getting 2 FTs, etc. would be a great outcome, if it were a realistic one. Which is wasn't.

The reality was it was a clear charge. Even look at the Blazer players reaction when it happened. Usually on a close block/charge, you'll see a lot of teammates freaking out over the call. Not on this one though. They saw it. I'm a Blazer fan, I wanted the block but even with my red/black glasses on, it was an easy call.

EASY call. Homersim is a disease

Wow, so I guess you’re the expert at playing 1-on-5 basketball.

Sure. Why not? Is this really where you want to take this discussion, because, I can be condescending but I've got a great sense of humor, too. My guess is the rest of the board isn't really looking to read you and I go at it because you've got your panties in a bunch because someone doesn't agree with your narrative, but I've at least got a few minutes if you want to argue about whose dad can beat up the others.

What are you even talking about?

I really really enjoyed the early part of this season. It was a glimpse of how it could be to be a fan of a good blazer team. I was stupid for being this optimistic....

Yeah, it was nice. Hopefully when Dame and Gary get back we can see it again.

Until then...ugh

i saw the move but didnt see why shaedon got yelled at.... anyone catch the play better?
As translated using my amateur lip reading skills, I think Billups was yelling at Sharpe for not getting back on defense fast enough. Can't be sure though.

Our "big 3" might be as offensively gifted as anyone. Need to right complimentary pieces that can shore up the defense, space the floor, and make the simple play.

Completely different situation than the past, and despite our struggles that has me optimistic about the future because it should (hypothetically) be easier to address.

Wait. WE are to blame for this loss?
Definitely not... I'm saying that even without all of the guys they have out the Clippers are still a good team because they are so deep and have guys like Norm and RoCo who despite so many in here saying otherwise are starting level NBA players. They would both have to be the fifth best starter on most playoff teams but they're just much better than people in here want to admit. You calling them trash didn't lose this game but you calling quality players trash might explain how we could lose a game that we "should have won".

I don't get the challenge gripe. It was a charage. Had it been called a block, I think there would be enough evidence to overturn it and call it a charge. No way it was going to be conclusive evidence it was a block. It was a bad decision by Grant to go at a stationary Jackson. The Blazers bench surely had multiple coaches looking at a replay, knowing it was Grant's 6th foul. I think the fact that they didn't challenge should be confirmation how it was clearly the correct call on the floor.
We looked at it from multiple angles, good call.
