Game Thread 2022-23 GAME #25 - BLAZERS VS NUGGETS - DECEMBER 8, 2022 - THURSDAY - 7:00 PM (PDT) ROOT - NBATV

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Home games, we are at the arena at 1pm for a 7pm game. Tons of prep for the broadcast. Leave the arena around 10:30-11pm.

Road at the are 7 hours before tip. So noon. At home we have the same broadcast truck every game, on the road always different. So we go in earlier just in case. Head to the plane right after the game. So our average takeoff time on the roadtrips is around 11:30pm. On average get into the next city’s hotel about 2am depending on where we are flying to obviously. So back to backs or 3 in 4 days can be rough.
Sounds brutal. Hope there's OT pay

In broadcasting there is a 10 hour rate. Normally time and a half from hour 10-12, then double time. There is per diem of course and also what we call half-day travel pay. Not every company you work for is the same though. Like the Olympics, they try to get over in you, because they are giving you like 21 days of work.

I have a yearly contract with the Blazers. My home rate is what everyone here in town gets.
My road rate is inflated. Putting into account overtime, traveling, etc. The team really takes care of me. I have friends in my same position with other teams and because they work for the networks covering the teams like Bally or Root, they aren’t compensated as well.

I worked for the golf channel for 10 years. At the majors, I’d put in 14-16 hour days for 7 straight days. You could imagine those paychecks. Definitely miss those…HA!

I haven’t been watching DEN, is Jamal Murray “back” yet?

Yet another guard making $30+m/yr who really hasn’t lived up to his extension.

Murray played last night but Porter was still out (Heel Injury). They were saying he'll be back soon.

you may or may not have noticed it yet, but those long hours and consecutive days are a lot easier when you're 30 than when you're 50

Sir, you are NOT joking. My travel work days I used to be able to do all the time, absolutely wipe me out. For example, I have a 1pm call in Vegas for a fight. The company likes you to travel the day before just in case, work and then travel the following day home. But if you’re in good with them and they really want you on the show, you can travel down the morning if and go straight to the arena. Man used to do it all the time….I’m just a zombie after those now. Getting old FAMS!

You should work baseball games during the NBA off season, you’d love it.

I work baseball games every now and then. Far and few between. Have never worked rugby or footy.

If you need added motivation, this game is for the division lead since we’d have the tiebreaker!

Tie breaker yes, division lead means nothing on Dec. 8th.

We won’t lock up the tiebreaker tomorrow but we will have it for now. I enjoy Dec 8 as much as April 8. It’s like saying the first quarter of a game doesn’t matter. I disagree and I enjoy all 4 quarters. Step 1: get division lead. Step 2: keep division lead. And division breaks three way tie. The way things look, that could come into play.

So we’re 8th now but if we win tomorrow , we move to 5th. And if the Kings lose in Cleveland and Mavs lose to Bucks on Friday, we move to 4th. Go Blazers!!!

Homecourt is what I want so that's what I'll put out in the universe....I like that our best player and best defender have barely broken a sweat this season and we have a winning record anyway...future looks real bright moving forward this season..buckle up! Homecourt in the big dance...that's the target

Please keep me updated….I’m trying to book work with other clients once our regular season is over.

Shuffle board cruise work is always available in the off season but you'll have to spend a lot of time in Florida

Denver is coming off three straight losses. And they prolly want payback for the beatdown we laid on them last month. This won't be easy.

I think this team still has a ways to go before any game should be considered easy.

Denver Nuggets
14-10 (11-13-0) 227.5 +100 56.6%
Portland Trail Blazers
13-11 (14-9-1) -1.0 -120 43.4%
We are slight underdog on the morning line with the bookies almost a push. Had SRV last week nasty stuff for respiratory. Needed steroids to kick it missed a couple of games on the mend.
