In broadcasting there is a 10 hour rate. Normally time and a half from hour 10-12, then double time. There is per diem of course and also what we call half-day travel pay. Not every company you work for is the same though. Like the Olympics, they try to get over in you, because they are giving you like 21 days of work.
I have a yearly contract with the Blazers. My home rate is what everyone here in town gets.
My road rate is inflated. Putting into account overtime, traveling, etc. The team really takes care of me. I have friends in my same position with other teams and because they work for the networks covering the teams like Bally or Root, they aren’t compensated as well.
I worked for the golf channel for 10 years. At the majors, I’d put in 14-16 hour days for 7 straight days. You could imagine those paychecks. Definitely miss those…HA!
