Game Thread 2022-23 Game #31 - BLAZERS @ THUNDER - DECEMBER 19, 2022 - MONDAY - 5:00 PM (PDT) ROOT

This game was lost due to turnovers… again. We out-shot, out-rebounded and out-assisted OKC. But we committed untimely turnovers in the 4th with Dame having 3 and Ant with the one at the end.
We lost because SGA hit the last shot. Very poorly defended as a team knowing he's option number one.

Not worried. No one should be.

Agreed. The Celtics just lost back to back games to the Magic. If a finals contender can do that, a play-in caliber team is also going to do it a handful of times.

So we are going to lose Wednesday too?

Hot take: Chauncey is looking like a very average coach.

That's pretty good for a coach who's been an NBA head coach for 100ish games and had 1 year of assistant coaching experience before that. There likely to be a lot of growing pains when your resume is that light. Odds are he'll never be a top 10 coach in the NBA, but I think he's doing fine.

I mean, I agree in principle, I don't base my emotional states off of basketball, but what are you suggesting? Like these flaws that continue to be displayed don't matter? Or like I originally said we shouldn't be worried over a sport we watch for entertainment?

Yes lol

And of course dallas hasn’t won since beating us lmao

Blow this shit up please

And those games were in Boston.

Well it would be nice to have a coach who is in the top third in the NBA, and we would certainly need him to be if we ever want to be a contender. Not sure if I'd be content with anything less than that moving forward.

I think it's fair for people to think Walton or Clyde are the greatest; especially if they heavily weigh team success in factoring how good an individual is.

For me, Dame is a clear #1, but that doesn't make my opinion any more right/wrong than yours.
For me, it all depends on how you define greatest. I've read it contended in non-Blazer media that when healthy Walton was the greatest NBA center ever. My family moved out West from NC in 1976 & to my eyes Bill was clearly the most dominant talent of the three. Of course he also led the franchise to it's greatest achievement but had a shortened injury wrecked career. Clyde is regarded as one of the truly elite of the elite NBA athletes ever to play. Of course he took the team to two finals and holds all sorts of franchise records. Dame is about to beat the biggest one, scoring. He's been among the league's best players for many years, but the franchise failed to gather a contender level cast around him. I basically quit the board about 5 years ago because Neil Olshey GM... he's not Dame's fault.

For me anyhoo, they're the first 3 faces on PTB's Mt. Rushmore.

Obviously that would be ideal and maybe Billups will turn out to be that guy. I'm not certain this franchise is in position to identify, attract, pay, and retain a coach at that level.

Likewise!
What's the matter bro, everything okay? You said something vague and I was interested and asked what you meant and you turn to flippancy. Love it, will definitely frequent more often.

This makes me feel like I want the team sold to an owner that I know wants to win.

You nailed it. The problem with undefined terms/awards is they are viewed differently by so many different people.

If asked who I think, at their peak, was the most impactful Blazer, it would be Walton.

If asked who I thought was the best player during the Blazers best 3-4 year stretch, it would be Clyde.

I give the nod to Dame as the greatest Blazer because he has willed non-playoff rosters to the players nearly every year, took a 1st round playoff team to the WCF, all-time scorer (depite not playing the most minutes), is nearly 2x as many 3's in franchise history, #1 in FT's made, #1 in FT%, #3 in assists (could be #1 by seasons end), all while staying loyal to a franchise in an era that chasing the ring elsewhere is the popular move. The guy is loved by his teammates, seems to love Portland, and appears to do everything right off the court. It's just hard to knock the guy IMO.

I'm not sure I would want to remain a fan of a team if I knew they had no desire to compete or try to build a contender, so I certainly hope that's not the case.

We'll never know Jody's true feelings/intentions.

I believe there have been moves made that should give you pause about how serious and equipped she is to lead this franchise.

Those who prioritizes contending for & winning championships do. The counter is thats outside of a single player's control/it's a team game. See MJ >>> Hakeem

And Minnesota hasn’t lost a game since we thumped them twice in a row.

You’re stupid for not realizing how much parity is in the league right now
