The Portland Trail Blazers should ask for a volume discount on core muscle surgeries.

Damian Lillard got one last season and now says he is pain-free for the first time in years and expects a return to his MVP-ballot self. Nassir Little followed suit and had core muscle surgery in May. Now it is just-signed Gary Payton II who just had the same surgery, the Trail Blazers announced on Friday.

Gary Payton II underwent an off-season procedure in July to address a core muscle injury.

He is expected to make a full recovery by the start of the regular season.https://t.co/W3Kg8ksEFQ

The good news for Payton and the Trail Blazers is this is an injury expected to heal fairly quickly and Payton should not miss much, if any, of the season.

very true because Jokic would likely stomp Eubanks if Nurk gets in foul trouble.

Still not sure about Eubanks. He looks to struggle on D down low against a bigger center. But he also has looked pretty effective on D at times when the opposing center is away from the basket. Yesterday he was a +11 in the first quarter. They played well with him on the floor.

But I agree since Jokic is good at everything it could get ugly. I do like his ability to tip offensive rebounds out with a lot of traffic around.

Except he already has missed 3 games of the season? Or maybe that's part of the quote. I bet that's what it is, and so much for that!

I would be very curious to see what Winslow defending Jokic would look like. Probably a :shitstorm:but maybe not...?

I think it would probably be better than Eubanks because Jokic spends a lot of possessions playing outside-->in. A lot of high post offense where he makes various moves into the paint. Winslow's mobility might mitigate that action. Nurkic has trouble defending that at times; Eubanks would be worse

is it the first time in Lillard's career that the Blazers have started 3:0?

yes.

through 3 games in Dame's career, the team has started 2-1 seven times. 1-2 three times. never started 0-3.

Blazers started 3-0 in McMillians last two seasons, then lost the fourth games.

They haven't been 4-0 since 1999 team that went to the WCF.

The last time they were 5-0 was in 1992 when the Blazers eventually got to 8-0. That was the year after the Jordan finals; but the Blazers would finish the year with a loss to the Spurs in the first round.

1990 team was a franchise best 11-0
1981 7-0
1979 9-0

It would be great to see Ant do really well in this game. If he starts clicking with all of the other good things we have going on, we'll be pretty scary.

Our schedule is tough. Denver, Heat, Rockets then Memphis then 6 road games back to back with the Suns…. Ouch

He might be the best option after Nurkic. I wonder if he could bother Jokic the way he bothered Kevin Durant (even blocking one of his shots).

Here's the video short of him defending and blocking Durant:

I want Nurk to beast against Jokic tonight...that's his ultimate test in the league. Get Jokic in early foul trouble.

Well sure, but that doesn't seem likely. I'd be happy with Nurk playing slightly worse but still respectable against Jokic.

I worry that he will get destroyed and then our backups might be even worse.

I like his chances. Doesn't seem likely that we are 3-0 either but I'll take it.

I see the Blazers winning a close game possibly in OT due to defense and Ant/Sharpe both having good games to go along with another strong performance from Jerami Grant and Josh Hart. I think Nurk will hold his own against Jokic, but of course, the Joker will outplay him because he's the back-to-back MVP. Blazers win by 3.
