well, I was responding to a question of if any Blazer coach had started a season 4-1

Technically, he didn't start the season 4-1 then, because at no time this year has the team been 4-1. ;)

also, the question was ". Have we ever had a coach start his first season with us 4-1?"
Now while you can make the argument that the "first season" indicates from the get go, that also technically means that TS's 4-1 start doesn't count since he wasn't the coach from the get go.

But Ricks first season was 88-89, and not 89-90. Now if we're going to go based on first season without the label of "interim", then that also means you can't compare TS's season to Jacks or Dunelavys records.

I love it when they win ugly. It gives me more hope than winning by just getting hot from deep.

Did not shoot well from the free-throw line or the 3-point line, and yet still beat a good team. The game was played with a lot of intensity by both teams. Especially loved winning after Jamal Murray got cocky at the 2-minute mark with the fans.

The foul at the end of the game was similar to the foul they called on Tou at the end of the 1st half. Glad they were consistent.

Nice game to be at. Crowd got better as the game went on. Had to get past the delay but really that just was like an extra intermission. Bunch of people went and got more food/drinks/beer.

Thiago Splitter seems good on the sidelines. He has a lot of help. He keeps his head and controls things well. I like him as a coach.

Oh my fucking god you could just ASK ME what I meant: in his first five games, has any new coach for the Blazers gone 4-1?

Also our skinny lanky team beat a big huge beefy team last night. That was one of my concerns: can we beat a more physical team? And the answer is, amazingly, yes!

If you read the twitters, you'll see that Denver fans, especially someone who works for their post-game show, are quite pissed about the non call on the jump ball at the end.
They didn't mind the calls they benefited from though.
To be fair not sure how that wasn’t a foul lol

Not exactly a thrilling way to end a game but any win is thrilling.
Reprise!
After the last 4 seasons nobody, I repeat nobody is allowed to critique a WIN in any way possible. Foolish if you do.

You have the incorrect stats for Rick. He started on Feb 18th 1989 vs the Sonics and the team went 1-4 in his first 5 games. The first 5 games of the 89-90 season, yes he went 4-1. BUT....Schuler was fired on Feb. 18, 1989. The team started off that season going 25-22 and the Blazers shit-canned Schuler and named assistant Rick Adelman as the interim head coach. They proceeded to lose the next 4 games under Rick, until he got his 1st win in game 52, Feb 26th 1989 vs Miami.
Crazy thing is, it looks like if you have a more talented team, you win more games which in turn makes the coach look good?

But wait, weren’t you saying things about us getting rid of Ayton and Ant and saying we have less talent since we got rid of those two? And we’re going to miss Ant’s 3 point shooting a lot? None of those have looked to be true so far, but it’s still early to be fair.

We basically have the same team as last year plus Jrue..

I think several people hade been saying it. I found it hogwash. Some people will likely be served a healthy crow stew. Or they will stew on having to eat crow. I don't know.

Bro this is such a small sample size. We ARE less talented, but with much better chemistry.
I believe Matisse has been fantastic and he didn’t even play last year. Very happy of our team and proud of our start, but if you think Jrue can continue grinding like this and you are counting RW to stay healthy and with the loss of Matisse and possibly this Wesley kid……. Let’s just check back in in 2 weeks FAMS.

I know I said so myself, its still early to be fair.

But we're also maybe playing with less talent than last year right now, we don't even have Scoot playing too. But the team is jellying, we look great on defense, and our guys are still young and can still make small improvements imo. There will be some bumps in the road, and other teams will also get better game planning against us too. Its a long season, and ups and downs will happen.

What I'm really trying to say is, we don't miss Ant or Ayton, which would have technically made us have more talent than we currently do.

I feel when we don’t have a backup center soon at all, you will realize we would be better off being able to throw DA out there than our options. Also, I believe we have already missed Ant’s ability to hit a huge shot in crunch time in 2 of our games. We will see differently on this obviously, just my opinion.

1. DA wouldn't be a backup
2. Remember how we got Jrue? You think there would BE big shots to hit if we hadn't done that trade??
